4 Door problem of the 2003 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

Several interior controls, such as door handles and the parking brake, are metalized plastics. As the car ages, the metal plating starts to peal off. As it comes off in pieces, it presents a sharp edge that can cut the user. We have had three different instances of hand cuts that could have led to accidents as the driver attempts to keep blood from the cut from getting on clothing, car interior, etc. The dealer replaced a door handle, at my cost, on the first instance. Subsequently we have tried to remove the rest of the plating from the effected parts. Unfortunately, the remaining fragments still adhere well to the parts for now and degrade slowly. I fully expect to sustain similar injuries in the future as the deterioration continues.

Purchased a Honda Civic 4dr lx on sept. 20, 2003 and took it to the car wash on 10/04/2003 only to have water on both front driver and passenger doors (bottom of doors). On 10/06/2003, I took it for a 48 hour raincheck I had received, and again water had come in. When I got home I dried it up and again pour a gallon of water on both driver and passenger doors. Sure enough water was at the bottom of the doors. After inspecting both doors water was evident between the door panels. In the process of doing the inpection. I also notice that the gaps between the driver back and passenger door were different. The passengers back door gap measures 1/4 in. While the drivers back door measures 3/16 in.

9 Door problem of the 2000 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/21/2003

I dropped my car of 7/21/03 for engine repair and body work. The body shop said it would take 10 days. 7/28/03 my car was broken into while in their shop and I was not alarmed until 21/2 weeks after the "break in" incident by the detective on the case. In between the time before I knew about the break in, I've spoken to the owner inquiring about the time frame my car would be finished, the owner never mentioned of the incident. When I did find out of the incident and confronted store owner he stated that he thought I knew. I expressed my anger and mentioned the fact that my car was broken into and if he had advised me of the situation, I would have taking that in consideration of the time frame of prolonged service and understood more of the delay. The owner said the fact that my car being broken into had no reason of the delay. I had numerous unpleasant conversations with him, from where he's called me a "!@#$%," that I don't give him enough business to "harass him" about information on my car as much as I do. I've already gave him $1,500. 00. When I finally had the time and transportation to go see my car, there were some parts of my car that was taking that needed to be repaired, for example my front bumper was totally ripped and needed to be replaced- that was stolen, my passenger rear view mirror was taking, that also needed to be replaced. My strut bar was taking but the person or persons who took it had the time to put the screws back on, whoever broke in my car also took my back spoiler, gauge cluster, speedometer, headrest, both of my door panels and door speakers, my console, and some other stuff. My car is three times worse then when I dropped it off. The owner stated that he does not have to replace these items if he doesn't want to. I still pay car notes my car, it I've mentioned this to the owner how important it is for me to have work done and right ASAP many times but he seems to not understand or care. My car has not been worked on.

21 Door problem of the 1996 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/13/1999

The remote door locks stopped working when the car had been sitting for a week in the driveway. Apparently a "crystal" which controls this broke. There was no reson on my part why it should have broken. I don't see why I should pay $450 for something that is a defect and has been fixed numerous times by my mechanic in Civics of the same year. Also, the passenger side window has failed in numerous Civics from 1996 according to my mechanic, leading us to believe that both of these problems are defects.
