The paint is chipping away on the hood. The car is always parked in the garage. Also the car is washed at a professional carwash establishment at least one every week. I noticed this months ago but it is getting worse. The dealer told me to send in the complaint. They had similiar complaints with this black paint. Thank you.

My 2013 Honda Civic sedan with less than 54,000 miles on it, has the paint peeling problem as outlined in Honda's TSB #14-034 whereas this model year is granted a 7 year extension on its paint. However, Honda has put in some escape windows to get out of this, the main one being when you actually rolled the car off of the dealership's lot. After taking my Civic in to have the paint repaired, their dpsm (a factory representative), would not allow it to be fixed at their cost. I am almost 60 years old now, and for over 20 years, I was a professional and certified mechanic, and service manager as well. I had also worked almost 6 years in the only mercedes-benz factory located in the u. S. Between 1980-1990 when it closed here in our area of virginia. With such low mileage, and this obvious factory paint defect, one would think that a company such as Honda, would honor the quality standard of their products. Not the case at all here. After going back and forth with their factory representative at american Honda on the telephone just now, they are only willing to cover about $850 of a $3100. 00 paint job. Being a former mechanic and service manager who has worked for years with TSB's and safety recalls, this truly astounds me here. Switching over to toyotas now after 43 years of being a faithful Honda customer. As a professional mechanic, I would stay clear of these Honda vehicles due to this issue, and it goes across their many product lines over many years too. Mechanically for the most part, Hondas are great vehicles. But it is shameful to see them running around here only a few years past new, with their paint jobs peeling off. They need to honor these repairs. There is only right and wrong in life, never an in-between. Stay away from Hondas.

I just bought a Honda Civic si mugen fiji blue the clear coat start flaking coming out paint starts fading its 2008 car its not a 1990 I see cars older than mine with better paint job its a cheap paint job Honda used in the first place thats not fair now its gonna cost me 4 to 5 k at least.

In less than 5 years of ownership, the paint on the diver side in the crevice between the rear window and the body of our 2016 Civic started peeling in chunks of greater than 1". Because it was out of the 3/36000 warranty, we were offered to have the area repainted and we consumed half the cost. Less than 8 months later, and still less than 5 years of ownership, the paint is now peeling on the passenger side in the same exact fashion. They have had multiple recalls on many cars in this year and extended the warranty for those cars as well. I'm not sure what to do here.

Paint is chipping near rear window on drivers side. After some quick research this appears to be a common problem. Bought it certified only 3 months ago.

I bought this car brand new on 06/01/2015 from Honda. I have taken very good care of it in that time. I recently noticed the paint is literally pealing off the car around the rear windshield. I went to a local body shop and was informed that many Honda, Toyota, kia products were having similar issues with the paint especially in white. I called the Honda customer service line and explained the situation and apparently the recall for the paint issue doesn't cove my particular year make and model. So now am am left with an only 5 year old car with pealing paint. So I have to incur the repair costs and hope that more of the paint doesn't end up coming off.

I have had my 2018 Honda Civic for less than 2 years and my paint is chipping off on my hood and doors for no apparent reason.

The paint on my Civic is peeling around the rear window. The peeling is noticeable, growing, and not a function of neglect or abuse. It's like the paint was not properly applied or there is some manufacturer error that is causing the problem. The paint color is cosmic blue. It is only peeling in one spot.

While washing my 2 day old car a chunk of paint blows off the lower kick panel. Dealer told me it was my fault and they weren't going to pay for it. I told them they could have the car back. Suddenly they were going to repair it. They told me they replaced the entire panel. 2 days ago almost exactly 1 year to the day,I was washing my car and in the exact same place a chunk of paint blows off ( a bit ironic). I went to a different dealer (cant trust superstition springs after they lied to me). I called Honda they said no problem to take it to another dealer. The dealer I took it to said I would have to pay for the repair since Honda said they had paid for the fix once. No way they replaced the panel because they have no record of it ever being replaced and the paper work I have does not state the panel was replaced. They didnt change the panel, they slapped some touch up on it and sent me on my way.

We bought the car brand new and paint has been chipping and peeling after the 3rd year we owned the vehicle and it's gotten worse and the dealer we bought it from will not do anything about it. We have also tried Honda's corporate office.

Honda Civic 2011-car proceeded into intersection even though the brake was applied,low visability headlights,passenger back door right side rattles like it is not shut,odometer digital numbers going out,car is not changing gears even though it is a automatic until almost 4000 rpm,drivers and passengers doors swing back and hit you in your legs or body. Once paint was recalled but not for the body of car that is doing the same. Paint is peeling on top of car and on both doors. Also sun visors were recal yet they are broke again. Also car has 11633 miles and I have replaced brakes 3 times.

Car clear coat is coming off on the trunk and roof in multiple locations. In areas where the clear coat is gone, the paint is now coming off. Vehicle is a 2012 Honda Civic purchased new in 2011. The problem first started in 2018 approximately 2 months after extended paint warranty expired. I contacted Honda customer service and they would not cover the repair costs and said there was no known paint defect for my vehicle year/model. The paint is degrading at an alarming rate. The problem started when the vehicle was 7 years old. The problem is not consistent with normal wear and tear. I have owned 2 other Honda's and never had a paint issue. The numerous websites and facebook groups dedicated to Honda paint problems suggests this is a known defect that Honda has chosen not to address. The car is currently registered in florida and was previously in illinois and maryland. The car was typically washed once a month at a car wash or by hand and waxed at least twice per year. Since the problem started, I no longer wash the exterior since that exacerbates the paint degradation.

I bought a 2011 Honda Civic coupe. I bought it new and have been the only owner. 2 years ago the paint began peeling on the trunk. The peeling has now extended from trunk to the roof. The paint on the roof is almost entirely peeling. The trunk has huge spots where it is peeling. The hood has white lines on it also from paint failure. This car now looks ridiculous and is embarrassing to drive. Honda issued a recall but never actually alerted people that may have this problem. They are absolutely liable for this paint failure for using cheap products.

Original paint is peeling. Never knew or told about the extended warranty for paint until I brought the car in yesterday for a passenger airbag recall on the car which also I have to know about by looking up online since we weren't told about it. Dealership confirmed that they cant do anything about the car paint anymore since the extended warranty expired.

Paint peeling at bottom of left front bumper. Car is garaged. Problem noticed 2/7/18. I can slide my nail under the paint & continue to pee it. Car to be seen at Honda dealer 3/12/18 & photo of area of peel to be photographed & sent to appropriate Honda department for review. This is definitely a manufacturing deficit!.

This is my everyday use car and bought it brand new 2015 and arround 2018 the paint started to scrape off in some areas. I did not use any chemical or anything like that. I use it in the city and the weather is not extreme.

I leased a Honda Civic 2012-2015 , in 2015 I bought the Civic that I had leased for 3 years. In 2018 I started to notice the paint was looking dull in certain spots and starting to show a white ring like I dumped salt for melting ice all over it. I took it to the dealer and was told I missed the extended warranty on getting my Civic painted and that I was notified by mail about the paint issue. I never received any notice from anyone regarding the paint coming off of my car. I asked the dealer and Honda several times now to tell me when and to what address the notice was sent and to email the supposed notice that was mailed. Nobody can answer me. Supposedly it's through a 3rd party which they couldn't tell me the name of. I just paid off my 30,000 $ car that now is worth marbles because it looks like garbage. I can't trade it in or sell it because it looks horrible and nobody wants a car that's missing paint everywhere. It's now 2020, I went online to investigate and turns out Honda has been selling this defective paint/clearcoat to people for decades, says they notified their customers, even though they did not, and tries to make a deal with you to pay more money to them on a car that they should have never sold you to begin with. My offer, from Honda, was to paint my car, minus the hood, for 600. 00$ they need it for 7-8 business days and I have to get and pay for my own rental. When they gave me this nonsense offer, they then told me I only have 30 days to schedule or their offer was off the table and I pay full price myself with no assistance from them. I want to know who , when and to what address this supposed notice about my car looking like junk in the future was sent. I want Honda to fix the issue in full because it's their fault. I also want to join a class action suit with others getting screwed by Honda.

Paint coming off of car. Was told I was notified by a letter in mail. Never was. Asked for when it was mailed, asked rip what address it was sent and also asked for a copy of this supposed notification to be emailed to me. Was told by multiple Honda people they don't have that information. . . . It's because they did not send it. I was never told that this would happen by anyone !.

The paint on the hood starting peeling off drastically. Honda has recalled this make and model for some colors but orr Honda texarkana refused to listen to my complaint.

I am having a on-going issue with paint peeling from my vehicle. Vann york Honda painted some areas on vehicle where paint was peeling in 2014, however, the problem was never resolved because the paint continues to peel from my vehicle. Now vann york is saying that I have to pay 30% towards repairs, I offered for them to waive my 30% of repair cost due to the fact that the problem with paint peeling from my vehicle was never resolved.

The hood was repainted during a recall a year after purchase. Last year, we saw cloudy white patches on the trunk and the paint/coating coming off (the car is black). Now there are large white patches on the trunk, hood, and there is paint peeling under one of the doors. It is spreading quickly across each area.

Takata recall was repaired 2017. Paint peeling more than Honda recall areas. Honda refuses to repaint. 8/2017 9/2017 in motion : driver side sun visor is broken and drops down and blocks my view out of the front window. I can not afford to replace.

My car paint is beginning to peel and the dealer says since I am 7 days outside of the warranty, they will pay 35% of their estimate of 5600 to fix it. They will need 3 weeks to take care of it and will not pay for a loaner. They had my car a month ago for service and did not do a walk around which would have hopefully caught the problem while it was still covered. I am so upset with the dealership for missing such a big thing!.

My paint has been fading for about a year now. Every time I bring my car to Honda they tell me there is nothing they can do about it. It looks terrible. My car is still in very good condition, but the faded paint all over the body of the car is a complete eye sore. I would like to keep this car for many more years (even when I purchase a new one)I see many many Honda Civics from 2008 that look the same. I want to buy another Honda in the near future, but because of this defect I don't think I can. It is embarrassing for me, and for Honda.
