My vehicle, Honda Civic 2016, was parked in the parking lot. In the morning when I started the vehicle, it gave me errors in all systems: brake system error, power steering error, tire pressure error, etc. I could shift the gear, but steering wheel would not turn. I towed a car to a Honda dealership and they told me an electric power steering pump needs to be replaced. The car is 3. 5 years old, 36000 miles, the warranty ended only 6 month ago. Honda provided an estimate of $1500 to fix the problem. In a few days when I was suppose to pick up the vehicle, Honda called me saying that they weren't able to fix the problem and now they need to replace a power steering rack and power steering motor and it would cost $3000. The car is not drivable, it's a major safety concern and shouldn't happen after only 36000 miles.

Purchased a 2013 Honda Civic on 08/31/13. On 09/02/13 car had to be towed back to culver city dealership. While pulling away from curb wheel felt heavy and the console lit up with red, organ and yellow lights, indicating that the power steering and breaks needed to be checked and low oil pressure. My son and I were going down hill and picking up speed with no power steering or breaks. He continued to pump the breaks but there was no response, he finally pulled the emergency break and turned the wheel extremely hard into the curb. Came three feet from hitting a parked BMW.

Power steering pump leaked at 30k under warranty dealer replace faulty o ring allegedly. Now at 120k the o ring is leaking again and also the seams of the housing are leaking. Told 425. 00 to fix by dealer. I feel a design defect has caused the pump to leak.

The first time during the 1st week of August 08, my wheel locked. I was in the process of turning into a parking lot and there was no oncoming traffic. Aaa tow truck guy found loose nut on power steering pump (right next to belt) right away and tightened it for me. It was a temp fix so I could drive to get service instead of tow. Unfortunately, I don't think my Honda service people didn't check it like I requested cause it came loose again (1 wk later). . . Locking my wheel. I thank god I wasn't on a freeway or making a sharp turn around other vehicles. Honda mechanics don't understand why this nut is coming loose. They claim they re-tightened ("torqued") it but I'm scared. It could come loose again!!!! still in process of having problem corrected.

Within the last year I have noticed a leak on the back side of the engine while changing oil in my wife's 2006 Civic. First time, the dealer told me it was a leaky oil pan gasket bolt which they tightened. This time I am told the power steering pump is leaking and will need to be replaced. The car is 18 months old with 51,000 miles on it. The Honda dealer is currently repairing the car for $470 by replacing the power steering pump. This should not be happening on a year this old!.
Car stopped steering well; high pitched continuous whine; mechanic diagnosed power steering pump failure; pump needed replacement.

My 2001 Honda Civic ex srs light came up last week. This car had lot of issues since I bought in 2000 December
1. Radio replaced 1 month after purchase. 2. Right front side wheel bearing was replaced within 6 months under warranty. It failed again in 2005. I had it replaced again in 2005 for $500. 3. Side airbag light reset within 2 years. It came back again in 2000. The dealer doesn't know what is causing the problem. Its going to cost me $600 to replace the sensor. 4. Front side windows get stuck and don't roll up properly in cold weather. In 2003 dealer replaced the motor for $600 but still doesn't work. 5. Replaced front struts in 2006
6. Power steering pump failed in 2006 will cost me $500 to replace. 7. Srs light came up and stays on in 2006. Don't know what it will take to get this repaired. Overall I think 2001 Civic is a piece of junk.
