Every earring light comes on the dashboard at the same time. This has happened several times over the past year. The car abruptly stopped when I was traveling 30mph. The orange break light flashed and the car stopped itself when coming across a metal plate in the road. Luckily there wasn't any vehicle behind me or I would have been in an accident. Dealer said several software updates were needed and the a/c control panel needed replaced. Plus and oil change was needed in order to replace the a/c control panel. I have owned the vehicle since March 2020. I have taken it to the dealer for all oil changes and servicing since I've owned the car. I told the tech last oil change about the warning light issue and he said just drive the car in next time it happened because they needed the vehicle while it was happening.
All the warning lights came on after engine start eg, check engine light, power steering failure, driver assist, etc. It was every light. I took it to Honda in was diag. With po172 engine runs rich. Honda bullentin 19-032 was perform which included replacing the a/c control unit and software update. After one month and less than another 1000 milers driven I have the same problem. The dealership says my fuel injectors need to be replaced for $1400. The car has 38000 miles on it and just came off warranty. This is a known problem and apparently happens in colder climates but I lived in GA. Completely unacceptable.
Continuation of complaints 11307119, and 11307127. I called the dealership where I purchased the car new and explained what had been going on with the car. I was told to bring the car in. I took the car in and waited. I was later informed the Honda recommended that the plugs be replaced and oil change and a software update. I was later told that I would need to have the injectors replaced and I would have to pay for the repair. I was told they would need to order parts and provided me with a car and I left, it was a Friday. Monday I went to pickup the car. I was charged $1800 plus for the repair. I left and everything seemed ok but before I got home the alarm engine emission problem came up. Next day I called back and was told to bring in and they would look at it again. The message is still there.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 hondsa Cr-v. The contact stated that the anti-lock brake system, lane keeping assist, colission midigation system, road departure midigation, adaptive cruse control, some driver assist not operating, radar obstructed and auto high beam warning indicators flashed the entire time the vehicle was driven. Also noted that the failure had been occurring for approximatelly 3 years. The vehicle was taken to the dealer Honda of annapolis, 1736 west st, annapolis, MD 21401, they were not able to replicate the failure. The vehicle had been at the dealer twice, but since the warning indicators go away; when the vehicle was turned off and it did not happen all the time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed about a technical service bulletin number: 17064 ( radar software ), but they did not have remedy for it. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 200. Bp.
I have owned this vehicle 1 yr and a few months and have had to have the computer system wiped out and the software reinstalled more than 2x due to problem dash lights all of the sudden scrolling;road departure mitigation system problem, electric brake system problem, brake hold system problem, tire pressure monitor problem, emissions system problem, electric parking brake problem, power steering system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, ect. The vehicle was involved in a fender bender in the middle of all this chaos, but the problems started shortly after I bought it in may2019. At one time the computer would clear itself out and I could ride around for a day or two without all these lights flashing. That is no longer the case. These scrolling problem lights occur after I've been driving down the road but now they come on immediately when I turn on the vehicle. Prior to this and months ago, when I was rounding a corner on the freeway all the sudden the brake assist engaged as if I was too close to a vehicle in front of me. It was quite a jolt. The first time this occurred was October/November. 2019. This evening I got my oil changed and the mechanic found gas in my oil; I mentioned a gas odor last winter to the dealership when I took it in for oil change. They basically blew it off. No doubt about it now. In fact I even saved some of the oil that came out of the engine to show my husband when he gets home. I have used two different dealerships thus far because of workmanship issues at the first dealership. Now dealership number two does not even want to touch my vehicle.
At exactly two years old, the battery died. There is a service bulletin for a software update but of course, my vehicle didn't need update, it needed a new battery due to dead cell that happened within six hours. The top sides of the body has ripples down both sides. Was told this is usually cause by roof rack (I don't have roof rack) or by car wash (my car has never been through a car wash. I won't even let dealer wash it when I'm there). The car brakes hard even when there is no obstruction in front of me. The cruise, lane assist, mitigation will all shut off at various times saying radar is off/blocked. On 10/08/19 while driving, the lcd screen started beeping, flashing and going black. Nothing would work. Car is becoming dangerous to be on roadway. Filed complaint with Honda on a couple issues. Sorry for my luck, it's now out of warranty due to mileage.
While diving randomly at high speeds (60+ mph) and while turning in very good weather all warning lights light up (I have a video) and the vehicle loses power. This has happened a number of times on the highways and a major safety concern. I had to pull out of the highway stop and restart for the vehicle to regain power but the warning lights continue to be lit. After a couple of start and stop it disappears. It is a major safety concern and I have been lucky so far. I have approached the dealership thrice about the issue and they have replaced 2 sensors and updated the software but the issue persists.
Display console becomes erratic showing different screens, usually starting first with brightness level indicator, and then moving into different screens. The rate the screen changes increases with time. Dealer stated previously that Honda is aware of issue and that it needed a software update which was in beta testing. The incident rate for this to happen is increasing. My second trip to the dealership today (I think a year later) and they still do not have a fix. To stop the cascade, you have to stop the car and turn it off. It is a significant distraction when driving and is unpredictable. Have also noted lane departure system will engage at odd times (no actual lane departure or identifiable road issues). The main dash display failed to boot on start up recently. The gear knob has had to be replaced within the first year.
I've been to the dealership 5 times now for the same issues: road departure mitigation system failure, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem. I have also been driving the vehicle and with no one in front of me, the car will beep, flash brake, and then the brake system will activate. When this happens the seat belts lock up from the sudden braking. I was told there is an update, and they installed it, supposedly, and the problem should be fixed. I am still having all these problems, and I am now being told there is a software update that is coming out next month. Let me reiterate that while driving on the highway the vehicle will randomly brake with no one in front of me. I also had my gear shifter button pop out and brake while shifting to drive the other day. I had to drive to Honda, and get that replaced, and was told that it is a common problem.
On multiple occasions, while the vehicle is in motion, the system has made an alert sound and the instrument panel has provided the following notifications: "break system" indicator is lit; collision mitigation system problem; road departure mitigation system problem; and today (3/28/2019) while the cruise control was engaged, it also displayed adaptive cruise control problem. It shuts down these systems and the car drives with a slight "drag" to its movement. The only way to correct this issue is to pull over, turn the car off, wait, and then restart. The system checks itself and resets. This is unpredictable, cannot be specifically initiated, and therefore is difficult to take for repair when there is no indication at the time of the vehicle being in need of repair. There is clearly something wrong with the software, the computer, or an electrical connection. I am the original owner, vehicle was purchased in October 2017.
Yesterday I got in my car to head home from work. When I turned it on, I got a number of systems alerts, including the engine, brakes, power steering and others. I was able to get the car home, but when I was going to take it the dealership, the car sputtered and seems to be losing power as if it would stall. This is the third time that I have gotten system alerts and taken the car to be repaired. The first time, the oil was changed and a software update performed. The second time, a software update was performed. This time, I checked the oil and it was over full and smelled of gas. The car is now at the dealership for them to determine the issue. I live in texas. The first time this happened, was during the summer. The last two times have been in winter.
Vehicle does not shut down when turned off. This causes a high parsitic draw on the battery which causes the vehicle not to start in a matter of hours. Honda posted a service bulletin stating what the problem is and how to fix it. . Service bulletin 17-032. The service manager stated he never heard of it. Then he went on to say even if there is a software update, Honda will not alow him to do it unless absolutely necessary because of the labor charge to Honda. My battery blew up releasing toxic gasses filling the exterior of the car which contain my wife and kids at the time. They gave me a new battery.
While driving, safety systems go offline. Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking system, and others all go offline at the same time. Appears to happen at random. First visit to dealer, we were advised they did not see any codes and there was no malfunction at that time. Next visit, all the systems were still offline from earlier in the day and they performed some software updates which reset everything. Next day, safety systems went offline again. We took the vehicle back to the dealer where it is right now and they are advising that it is a fuel issue and gasoline is getting into the oil . No explanation how or why this is causing the safety systems to go offline and become inoperable. Have contacted Honda multiple times along they way, currently waiting on a case manager to call back.
Radio locks up and then indicator lights on dash flash - brake failure, vsa failure, tpms failure, ldw failure, acc failure, lkas failure, cmbs failure. Had it at Honda service two times and they reinstalled software and did a hard reboot. Issue reared its head again Dec 14, took to Honda service with lights flashing for a computer read. Service scheduled for Dec 19 to look into issues and perform recall repair. Check engine light has been on since I took it in Dec 14. Car seems to run fine even with indicator lights flashing. Issue happened first time while on interstate going 70 mph. Secong time on backroad going 45 mph.
The problem that we are experiencing on and off for more than 1 year while driving the car is warning lights all coming up and disabling the key safety features: brake system failure, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, and adaptive cruise control problem. This happen at normal city driving, freeway driving, with cruise control on and/or with cruise control off. The car is still operational but with warning lights. When you turn off the car, and restart the issues may or may not go away. When it does go away, it will randomly occur again. This problem happen when we had the car for 3 day old after buying it brand new and took it back to dealer and they look at it and did a software install. But, it never corrected the problem. We have live with this issues for more than a year now and are now fed up. We are frustrate of the thought of bringing it to the dealer and having the same thing happen to us again.
I parked the car in the garage on 8/18/2018. I turned off engine and all electronic equipment. We went on vacation for 2 weeks. On 9/3/18 we returned and we could not start the car. The battery was dead as it was completely drained. I researched on crv forum and there seems to be a knowing problem with battery slow drainage due to software and/or electrical components.
Battery went totally dead. Drove 1. 5 hr . Away from home vehicle sat for 7 hr. Returned to the car and dead. Had to be jumped by secuirty. Drove home started it a few times and the next day and it was fine. I read where there is a TSB 17-032. Software bug. Drove to work, we'll see if it starts to get home. Going to dealership in the morning. No documentation, security guard had me fill out a paper for their records.
Purchased car 1/18. Took 10 day vacation car was parked during that period. Car battery was dead when we returned. Had aaa jump car and took to dealer. Battery checked and told by dealer it was fine 6 days later battery dead had Honda service tow car to dealer. Had found Honda TSB 17-032 online describing a battery drain from vsa modulator. Made copy for dealer because they were unaware of problem asked them to follow the TSB software upgrade procedure which they did but when they tested battery there was still a drain so they replaced the battery and informed me I need to drive car everday to keep it charged, this is our second car and is not driven everyday and we travel which means the car may not be driven for 10 days or more the service advisor indicated that we need to acquire a battery charger because most likely the battery would be dead. It seems that the 2017 crv has an electric brake system problem. It pulls on the battery even when the ignition is off. Is Honda going to issue a recall on this problem. Everytime I get in the car I wonder if the car will start and this an uncomfortable feeling for a brand new car with only 540 miles on it.
Center console unit refuses to dim under any lighting conditions. Attempting to manually dim it results in momentary dimming and then return to full brightness. This makes it very difficult to see at night and requires that I shut off the center unit completely in order to drive safely. According to Honda this is a known software issue on the whole range of 5th gen crvs but they have not issued any fixes.
Vehicle was parked in garage for a few days over holidays. When leaving to meet relatives at a restaurant, the car was completely dead. Battery was at 3. 3 volts. Called the Honda dealer and he suggested Honda's free service; also, maybe the car should be driven daily. (?!) I asked if I could remove the battery and charge it with my battery charger. He said that would be ok. I charged overnight on trickle charge. The next day the battery was at 13 volts. I put it back in the car, waited 10 minutes for all systems to boot up and took it for a drive. Seemed alright. Looking online, I noticed a Honda technical service bulletin (17-032) referring to parasitic battery drain and my VIN fit the parameters. I now have an appointment with the dealer to check it out. Surprisingly, the service manager said the dealer had not heard of this bulletin and was not aware of this problem. I had assumed Honda would distribute all bulletins to all dealers, but apparently that's not the case. Hopefully the software updates will fix this problem.
My first problem occurred 3 months after I had my new car(@ 5609 miles). . . . The first incident came out of the blue - on may 11th, 2017 I used my car at 1 pm and when I tried to leave work at 4:30 the car display flashed a bunch of odd messages and the car wouldn't turn over. It had a dead battery! so an one and a half later the tow truck arrived to take the car to the dealer and I had to get a ride home and to and from work the next day. Honda service called me the next day and said that they charged the car battery and that the cause was a parasitic drain and that I needed to put the electric brake on before I turned off the car. They told me that Honda was aware of this issues and that they were working on a software fix. . . . Well tonight (Friday - Aug. 18th, 2017) as I was about to go out, the car again has a dead battery. Now I'm stuck home until tomorrow when I will have to spend Saturday trying to get the car driveable by Honda. So I have a new car (with 9300 miles) I can't drive!!! what happens if I have an emergency? Honda - if you have a fix (which I see on service bulletin a17-032), when can I get my car fixed so I can have a car I can rely on? when will you list my VIN in your service bulletin a017-032 for parasitic battery draw from vsa modulator????? this is not a good business practice and not one I would expect from Honda!.
Current miles = 4k. 1= battery went dead several times, was told update was done because issue w/parking brake circuitry. 2= various driver assist warning lights come on intermittently on dash. -issue not identified nor fixed. (ongoing) 3= recently pulled over by police nighttime-no tail lights, though front lights worked- driver of car was not familiar w/car- police fiddled w/ lightswitch got them working told driver to take it to dealer-no ticket issued. 4= noticeable lack of acceleration, fuel odor about vehicle, also sulphur smell after driving, heat does not warm cabin, nor defrost. Defog windshield properly, oil black and overfull. Oil changed, issues reoccur within a few driving miles (50-100). One dealer blames the other, Honda says they didn't know of issues, dealer finally confirmed gas in oil. Again-there is only 4k miles on this 'vehicle'. All these issues relate to safety, either to anyone inside the vehicle or others on the road. I have no confidence in driving this (paying more attention to cluster, driving subtleties etc than traffic), and am very upset in paying the payment each month while hearing the 2 dealers blame each other, and while Honda shrugs their shoulders. I am taking it, once again, to the dealer this Saturday for an 'update' to the software-per Honda case mgr naomi xt 87075. Documentation can be provided on request-- I am out of time and patience. There are many more people with these documented issues on this vehicle than are being reported here- (see google and social media). I dread having to drive it Saturday nine miles to the dealer. This is the top selling car in its class-- there is a major problem being driven daily on the highways of the USA. My issues began April 2017 (purchases 3/30/2017) and have been ongoing through Dec 2018. Please help!!.
