My gas pedal got stuck while starting the car. The car revved so loud and fast until bluish smoked filled the inside of the car and came out the tail pipe. Good thing the car was in park. The pedal released on it's own. After doing some research, I see that other owners of this vehicle has experienced the same thing. After taking their vehicle in, they were told they couldn't find an issue because they couldn't duplicate it at the shop.

I was driving 45 mph on the freeway, when my gas pedal went down on its own as if I wanted to speed up. A few minutes later it did the same thing, but this time the gas pedal stuck. I put my 4-way flashers on, tried braking and put my right foot under the pedal to try an "loosen it". It finally "unlocked" and I was able to drive normally. It was not my floor mats in the way either, because I checked that. After researching over the weekend it looks like there have been 295 Honda complaints for the same problem. When are you going to investigate this and correct the problem, before someone gets severely injured or killed? a few years ago the Toyota prius had an issue with this. Maybe you should talk with them.

The dealer has pics of what happened and brakes were fried as they were new. . Im 2 1/2 weekks waiting on a reply or investigation from Honda . . Im out a car and my daughter needs to get to college. . She was on a long stretch of highway at incident. Which is what likely saved her by the grace of god. . Or could have been serious injury or death.

When attempting to accelerate speed from 40mph, gas pedal stuck in depressed position and rmp stuck at 4-5k. Unable to use brake application and efforts to unstick gas pedal failed. The only solution was to turn ignition and shut engine off. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and there was able time and distance for manual intervention to correct situation and avoid a potentially hazardous outcome. Vehicle was taken to dealership for diagnostic evaluation on 10/29/2014 and since the problem could not be duplicated it was not recorded as a defect.

My wife was accelerating her 2003 Honda Cr-v onto the massachusetts turnpike from the on-ramp, but the car continued to accelerate well above normal highway speed. The brake only slowed it partially, so she tried tapping the accelerator which released. Alarmed by this she got it serviced where mechanic blamed the problem on buildup of deposits on the throttle plate, which they cleaned, and did other preventive maintenance. Several weeks later I was leaving the supermarket on an very cold day of about 10f. I started the car in park, at which point the throttle went to maximum by itself, at very high revs. Fortunately it was still in park. I tried all kinds of tapping on and around the accelerator. I inspected the accelerator area for a stuck floor mat or a foreign object, but found nothing. I turned the car off, but when I turned it on, it continued to rev as if floored. The second time I turned it off and on, it returned to normal operation. It drove normally for the next few weeks. Finally, my wife was driving on a busy divided highway with many businesses when the accelerator stuck open again. The car sped up to dangerous speed, and stomping on the brake only partly slowed it. She shifted into low gear which actually made it speed up. She was approaching a traffic light with stopped cars. Not wanting to hit a column of stopped cars, she steered into a thick snowbank by the side of the road, hoping to stop it non-destructively. But the Honda did not stop until it hit a telephone pole very hard, with airbag deployment and total vehicle loss. She escaped with only minor bruises.
