No warning lights were illuminated. The contact's mother's vehicle crashed into three parked vehicles. The contact stated that after the impact, the wheels continued to move. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the contact's mother was driving in a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact's mother was inspected by the paramedics. The contact's mother was later taken to a local medical center in a private vehicle. The contact's mother did not sustain any injuries. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not inspected by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,500.
The contact owns a 2026 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle in a parking space with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated over the curb and crashed into the brick wall of a convenience store. The contact stated that the failure occurred without warning. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The brick wall of the store was damaged due to the impact of the vehicle. The contact was treated for pain in her neck and right shoulder by the paramedics at the scene; she was not transported to a hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard; however, the contact later picked it up. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was given a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 1,100.
Driving using cruise control on interstate. Car in front of me exited. My car began to slow even though there was nothing in front of me but a slight incline. I pressed on the accelerator and the car continued to slow. I turned off the a/c and cruise, but the car continued to slow and came to a complete stop on the interstate. There was a semi-truck behind me. Cars were passing me. I put the car in park and turned off the car. I started the car back up and drove away. I was completely stopped on an interstate with construction barriers on each side of the lanes, so there was no shoulder to pull off on. I was fearful of getting in an accident or causing one. I was very scared for my safety. There were no warning lamps or messages to assist in the moment. I took my car into the dealership and explained what happened. Dealership checked the cruise control and said "test drove vehicle and cruise control operation is normal. " they reset cruise control follow distance from closest to farthest and could not duplicate the concern. I am no longer using the cruise control because I feel it is a safety issue that was not addressed.

Date of accident: April 13, 2026 I drove into our church parking lot and then parked next to my husband’s car and was totally stopped and in the parking space. I thought I had my foot on the brake. After a split second, it accelerated and jumped the curb of the parking space at a very fast speed. I had no control of the car. I sheared off a heavy metal sidewalk railing and was headed for the brick church (church is on a berm above parking lot), but I managed to steer away to miss the church and a large tree. I steered off the berm and into empty parking lot – still traveling at high speed. I finally threw it into neutral to get it to stop because it was continuing toward a busy street with lots of traffic. Neutral stopped it. No air bags deployed. The front and side of the car that hit the metal railing sustained $6,500 damage. Towed it to collision repair. When we asked at the columbia, mo, Honda dealer’s service department, they said because the air bags didn’t deploy, that it was probably operator’s error and nothing they could do. We didn’t feel that it was operator error and reported to the assistant general manager of Honda in a personal meeting. We asked to have the Honda field engineer exam the car. Instead, they had their district service supervisor exam the car. Their conclusion: they could find nothing wrong with the car. After reading online reports of almost identical accidents with this model, we decided it was too dangerous to drive and sold it back to the Honda dealer.

1. The vehicle accelerated rapidly and uncontrollably without my touching the gas pedal and despite my slamming the breaks. 2 the vehicle jumped a curb and slammed into a parked car. Someone could have been easily killed if they were in front of the vehicle. 3. Not yet. I will have it towed to the dealer tomorrow. 4. No, see #3 above. 5. No. This was the first time this happened.
I was driving on the freewayin the night time on several occasions and the emissions light and check engine light comes on and the car lost speed and would not accelerate. I had to put my hazards on to exit the freeway slowly to pull over turn the car off, sometimes this corrects the problems. But this has happened on several occasions. The vehicle is now at the dealer being diagnostic, they end up keeping the vehicle and haven't told me yet what the issue is.

I am experiencing intermittent loss of motive power. Without warning at highway speeds I get a flashing check engine light immediately before the loss of motive power occurs. Motive power can be restored by turning the ignition off and back on. However, this action also clears the check engine light and any fault codes that were set. I drive with a code reader in the car and have received a p0302 code. This has happened at least five times since may 2024. It is available for inspection. I have brought it into a Honda dealership for repairs, they have changed the fuel injectors and pistons and it is still occurring. I was told this time that they did not know what was wrong so they could not repair anything. The safety of myself, my husband, and my seven month old daughter was out at risk as it occurs when traveling over 55 miles/hour and we lose power. We have to try and navigate to the side of the road to turn on and off the car. This problem was reproduced by a dealer this last time it went into the shop and it is there currently. The vehicle has only been inspected by keeler Honda in latham, new york. There were no other warnings prior to this failure. It has occurred multiple times, may 2024, November 2024, Feb 2025, March 2026 I have a video of what happens but I cannot upload it. This is exactly what is happening in NHTSA action number: pe25016.
This Honda Cr-v had a sudden surge of acceleration while the brake pedal was pressed. The brake pedal was stepped off to put car into drive, but then the car suddenly went forward over 30 mph and crashed into a fence and tree in the driveway straight across from it about 5 feet away. The airbag did not immediately deploy, but deployed a minute later. The entire front end of the car was destroyed. The driver tried to press the brake, shift into neutral and even turn the key of the car off to shut it off but none of those worked. This car was purchased at carmax in may 2025 and had no issues per them. There were no warning lights on the car prior to this.

My 2025 Honda crv hybrid seems to randomly accelerate on its own. This has happened at least 4 or 5 times over the past year. At first I thought I was imagining it but then I noticed it happened again, multiple times. Each time I was not pressing the gas pedal nor at any time was I using cruise control. I never use the cruise control. The vehicle seems to accelerate on its on for about 3-4 seconds then stops when I press the break. Clearly uncontrollable and unexpected acceleration of the vehicle puts me, my passengers and others are at risk. I called my local Honda dealer service department and was told that unless I can recreate the random and spontaneous acceleration at the dealership then they won't be able to diagnosis or write for the issue. The Honda service rep said sense I have no idea when it is going to happen again he cannot set a appointment for me to come in without having a current issue. Because the acceleration is random and because I cannot recreate it at will, the problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center and the vehicle has not been inspected. The acceleration issue is random and spontaneous with no warning lamps, no messages and no other symptoms prior to. Once it stops it may no happen again for weeks or months. However as mentioned about it has happened at least 4 to 5 times within the past year with the most recent occurrence on March 6th 2026 ----end-----.
I began experiencing "sticky" steering at highway speeds, requiring that I use force to keep the vehicle from drifting out of its lane. The problem worsened until, roughly one month later, the cruise control system went out without warning and refused to come back on. I took the car to the Honda dealership in port charlotte, FL on 3/30/26 where they were able to duplicate the problem immediately and recommended I no longer drive the vehicle until the steering rack/gear box is replaced. Honda steering is sensitive. Overcorrecting is a very real danger in addition to the possibility that it may lock up at high speeds in traffic. No warning lights ever indicated a problem. I am aware that other 2018 crv's were recalled for this issue to have the racks replaced. My VIN was not included in that recall, but clearly, my vehicle is having the same issue. I spoke with corporate Honda on 3/30/26.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 73 mph with two children inside the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, and while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerated and failed to respond as needed. The contact was able to move over to the right side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off and restarted, and operated as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

While highway driving around 60 mph, speed will decrease down to 30. Happened 4 times in the last 3 months. Need to pull over shoulder and shut off the vehicle to reset.
Sudden unintended acceleration (sua) I was pulling into a parking spot in a parking structure. I was coasting into the spot and applied the brakes. Upon releasing the break and allowing the car to coast, it unintentionally lurched forward with some acceleration even though I did not press on the gas petal. This results in the car lurching forward and hitting the parking garage wall. A call to the dealer indicated there is no reported problems of this kind and there are no recalls. There were no symptoms or lights indicating a potential problem. Car is only 4. 5 months old and purchased new. This was the first instance of this happening.
Cruise control significant safety. 2/13/2026. The first time I experienced my car made sudden high-speed acceleration, brain starts scrambling, what's going on? ok cruise controls on, turned it off, tapped brake. Now with cruise control off, I had to keep in contact with the accelerator to manually maintain speed. I had to pay much attention to my speed. Was towing a very small travel trailer, about 750#. The above actions stopped the sudden acceleration. Got my speed back under control. Thought since the problem was resolved quickly along with me disbelieving what just happened, I turned cruise control back on. So, I got my speed back to where it should be and put cruise control on. And, again it didn't happen right away, but when it did, it was exactly the same sudden acceleration. Vehicle to a Honda dealer next week. No warning signs or sounds, either before or after the incident, both occurrences.

To whom it may concern, I am submitting this complaint to report serious and potentially life-threatening safety defects involving my Honda vehicle. 1. Intermittent failure of crash avoidance / collision mitigation system the vehicle’s anti-collision/crash-avoidance system has stopped functioning intermittently and without warning. This system is intended to provide critical safety protection, and its unpredictable failure significantly increases the risk of a collision. There is no consistent pattern or driver action that explains the system disengaging, which makes the defect especially dangerous. 2. Sudden and unexplained sunroof explosion while driving while driving at normal highway speed, the sunroof glass suddenly exploded outward without any impact from debris, other vehicles, or road hazards. There was no prior warning. Glass shattered violently, creating an immediate safety emergency that could have resulted in serious injury or loss of vehicle control. This incident was extremely frightening and posed a serious risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. Based on my research, similar incidents involving spontaneous sunroof shattering have been reported by other drivers, suggesting a possible systemic defect rather than an isolated incident. I believe these defects represent an unreasonable risk to public safety and warrant investigation. I respectfully request that the national highway traffic safety administration review this matter and take appropriate action to ensure driver and passenger safety. Thank you for your attention to this serious concern.
Pulled into a parking lot and made a turn. While coasting at low speed (5-10mph) searching for a parking spot vehicle all of a sudden started to accelerate.
When pulling slowly into a parking spot, engaged the brake and the vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing a collision into a brick pillar. Injury to driver occurred.
The same issue has happened twice. I'm driving on the highway, going maybe 60 or 65, and with no warning, the check engine light starts flashing and the car won't respond to the gas pedal. The car immediately starts to rapidly decelerate, and I can only try to get to the breakdown lane before I get rear-ended. I've been lucky (especially since my child was in the backseat both times). But when I stop the car, turn it off, then turn it on again, everything is fine. I can get back on the highway, and no problems occur. The codes are not stored, however, so I can't know what caused the problem. When this happened the first time (last year), I took it to the Honda dealer where I bought it, and they said they had never heard of this happening. When it happened the second time in January, I called Honda, spoke to an agent who gave me a case number (xxx), and said she has heard of something like this from other drivers, but the solutions were all different, so she couldn't say what would fix it for me. I did some internet research, and found other drivers who describe the exact same issue: [xxx] I've switched to premium gasoline ($$) and won't let it get lower than 1/4 full, and have an obdii scanner in my glove compartment ready to go if it happens again. That said, this is a very dangerous defect, and I feel unsafe in my car. I am disturbed that a problem of with such potentially serious consequences has no solution that anyone can offer me. (note: when I go to submit this, the final form leaves off the last # of the VIN. I tried to correct, but it happened again. The VIN is [xxx] , 2020 Honda crv hybrid. Best VIN ever. ) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while attempting to park in a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a 2012 Cadillac in front of her. There were no reported injuries, fire, air bag deployment, or police report filed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an auto body shop. The local dealer was contacted, who referred to the Honda manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
All lights shown on monitor. Adas system would not be functional. Went to dealer and checked for causes. Recommended to replace fuel injector, spark plug, and battery. Since battery was replaced in two months, vehicle only did the checking. However, the condition kept on after a few days. Spark plug was replaced a day before yesterday and the condition came back yesterday. Researched online and seemed like fuel injector needs to be clean or replaced. The repair cost over $2,000 and the condition is not safe. It is often shown up when you park and then going to start.
This has happened twice in a month. I was driving on the interstate and the check engine light began flashing. The engine lost power and would not accelerate beyond 40 mph. The situation was incredibly unsafe as both times I was on the interstate and had to pull over. The second time was at night and around heavy construction which increased the danger. On each occasion the light turned off and the problem fixed when I turned off the car and turned it back on. Both times I took the vehicle to the dealership and they were unable to find the code or any issues. On the second time they recommended adjusting the valves and replacing spark plugs. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else. There were no warnings prior to the flashing check engine and the car losing power. On both occasions this happened within ten minutes of starting the vehicle.
Sudden unintended acceleration when parked, resulted in crashing our car.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda Cr-v hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was thanksgiving day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238. 95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 Cr-v hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.

I have had to go to Honda numerous times for the same thing. They are chalking it up to its a cvt engine. It seems to incur after going in reverse and other times it just starts sounding louder in its spin and the rpm is not at normal intervals because it’s almost like a gear shifting mode like it’s stuck in low gear. Also when it becomes sluggish it feels like an engine part is spinning on air versus using gas and oil. Like if the engine is going to shut off mode as I try accelerating and then cars are passing me by. The speedometer is showing one number but the movement of the car here is a lower number. At the same moment the rpm needle bounces around too. Each time this occurs I have to turn the car off at least two or three times before it goes back to normal operation.
I had adaptive cruise turned on and set to 36 mph, a vehicle which was a good distance in front of of me turned left across the oncoming lane and into a parking lot. Even though the car that made the turn was already in the parking lot the car slammed on the brakes. I have the entire incident in video. Of course this problem also exists and is even more dangerous at high speeds. I have complained to Honda USA three times and NHTSA once a few months ago and no response. My daughter who has the same vehicle also experiences these issues. Someone is going to get seriously injured . I’ve had cars behind me almost cause a wreck on the highway because of the slamming on brakes issue . Please advise where I can send the rascal video. It’s a matter of life and death.
I just filled a report but on October 3rd @ 3:34pm the same thing happened where while in cruise control the car just brakes and there was no reason for that to happen.
I purchased the 2025 vehicle in September of 2025. The forward collision warning has never worked properly and will kick out disabling the cruise control. I have brought this issue up at least 3 times at the Honda dealer I purchased it from (verne eide, sioux falls, sd). Each time I was told it this is a "known issue" and there is no fix for it. My only remedy was to disable the forward collision warning in order to be able to use the cruise control. My warranty expires in 6000 miles but they say they can't fix it. The dealer told me today that Honda is aware of the problem but has no fix for it. How is a know safety feature that does not work not considered a safety issue and a recall ordered? Honda has obviously chosen not to address this issue.
First incident. 9/20/2025: car went forward when gear shift was in reverse. I had pulled my car into space on a slight incline in a parking garage. The space inclined downward toward a wall. I needed to back my car back a few inches away from the wall. I put my car into reverse and applied light pressure on the accelerator. The car moved forward. I applied the brake, visually inspected the shift lever to make sure it was in reverse, and applied light acceleration again. Again the car moved forward. I put the car in park, turned it off, restarted it, and put it into reverse again, at which point it worked. Second incident, 9/24/2025: car lurched forward when I removed my foot from the accelerator. In a different parking garage, on level ground, I was driving under 7 mph when I needed to slow down as another car approached from the side. I lifted my foot off the accelerator to slow (but had not applied the brake) and the car lurched forward. I braked, took my foot off the brake, and the car worked normally. These incidents put my car at risk of collision with a wall and another car coming toward me, respectively. The system is available for inspection on request. It has not yet been inspected by anyone, but is scheduled to go to the dealer for inspection. I did not see any messages or warning lamps.

I have 2 issues with my car - the first one has been ongoing and I should have reported it sooner - when using cruise my car will sometimes brake for no reason, it's as if the car sees something that's not there. The second one just occurred and has only happened once. I was driving on the highway using cruise and I got a message on the dash that said something like cruise control disengaged - the cruise turned off and the gas pedal didn't work so I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily, I didn't have to cross any lanes of traffic or it could have been extremely dangerous. I plan to contact the dealer as soon as I am done with this submission. I wanted to be able to tell them that I had notified the NHTSA.

Continuous illumination of all lights on the dash. We have to reset the battery to clear the codes and it will do it again but the timing differs. Now, I am getting the “airbag srs system problem” that pops up and then goes away when the vehicle is restarted. This has been going on for over a year. We have replaced the alternator and continue to try and find the actual malfunction as a code reader just lists all things being illuminated. We are not the first, not the only, and definitely not the last crv owners with this issue. Fix this!!!! I’m highly disappointed in Honda.
Unintended acceleration. On August 8, 2025, Honda c-RV hybrid 2025 (sport touring) accelerated into a wall without the driver touching the gas pedal. The vehicle is deemed a constructive total loss by the insurance carrier. Since it can’t be driven, we are unable to reproduce the problem. A case is open with Honda since the date of the accident; however, there is no urgency to move the case forward.
The vehicle experienced an unintended acceleration in which it unexpectedly increased speed without any input from the driver. At no point was the gas pedal depressed, yet the vehicle accelerated on its own. This sudden and uncommanded movement occurred without warning and was inconsistent with normal vehicle operation, leaving the driver with no intentional control over the acceleration. Following this incident, the manufacturer was contacted; however, despite ongoing attempts to communicate over the past six months, there has been no meaningful correspondence or demonstrated urgency from the manufacturer to investigate or resolve the issue.
Approaching sliding exit gate slowly at 2 mile per hour the Honda suddenly accelerated and crashed into sliding gate. Damaged the gate and the right side of the Honda. Honda was placed in neutral and the engine was turned off. Next day the Honda was transported to the body shop for repairs. Transported by flat bed. Unsafe to drive.
When vehicle starts it shakes for a few seconds then is fine. When I drive and give it gas my car stutters and feels like it wants to shut off. On the highway with acceleration the check engine light comes on blinking and the car loses power. The codes read misfire I replaced the sparks plugs and coils 4 time already just for it to do it again a couple months later. I read this is a common problem and unsafe Honda needs to do something.
