Pulled into a parking lot and made a turn. While coasting at low speed (5-10mph) searching for a parking spot vehicle all of a sudden started to accelerate.

When pulling slowly into a parking spot, engaged the brake and the vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing a collision into a brick pillar. Injury to driver occurred.

The same issue has happened twice. I'm driving on the highway, going maybe 60 or 65, and with no warning, the check engine light starts flashing and the car won't respond to the gas pedal. The car immediately starts to rapidly decelerate, and I can only try to get to the breakdown lane before I get rear-ended. I've been lucky (especially since my child was in the backseat both times). But when I stop the car, turn it off, then turn it on again, everything is fine. I can get back on the highway, and no problems occur. The codes are not stored, however, so I can't know what caused the problem. When this happened the first time (last year), I took it to the Honda dealer where I bought it, and they said they had never heard of this happening. When it happened the second time in January, I called Honda, spoke to an agent who gave me a case number (xxx), and said she has heard of something like this from other drivers, but the solutions were all different, so she couldn't say what would fix it for me. I did some internet research, and found other drivers who describe the exact same issue: [xxx] I've switched to premium gasoline ($$) and won't let it get lower than 1/4 full, and have an obdii scanner in my glove compartment ready to go if it happens again. That said, this is a very dangerous defect, and I feel unsafe in my car. I am disturbed that a problem of with such potentially serious consequences has no solution that anyone can offer me. The contact owns a 2024 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while attempting to park in a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a 2012 Cadillac in front of her. There were no reported injuries, fire, air bag deployment, or police report filed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an auto body shop. The local dealer was contacted, who referred to the Honda manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

All lights shown on monitor. Adas system would not be functional. Went to dealer and checked for causes. Recommended to replace fuel injector, spark plug, and battery. Since battery was replaced in two months, vehicle only did the checking. However, the condition kept on after a few days. Spark plug was replaced a day before yesterday and the condition came back yesterday. Researched online and seemed like fuel injector needs to be clean or replaced. The repair cost over $2,000 and the condition is not safe. It is often shown up when you park and then going to start.

This has happened twice in a month. I was driving on the interstate and the check engine light began flashing. The engine lost power and would not accelerate beyond 40 mph. The situation was incredibly unsafe as both times I was on the interstate and had to pull over. The second time was at night and around heavy construction which increased the danger. On each occasion the light turned off and the problem fixed when I turned off the car and turned it back on. Both times I took the vehicle to the dealership and they were unable to find the code or any issues. On the second time they recommended adjusting the valves and replacing spark plugs. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else. There were no warnings prior to the flashing check engine and the car losing power. On both occasions this happened within ten minutes of starting the vehicle.

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda Cr-v hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was thanksgiving day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238. 95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 Cr-v hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.

I have had to go to Honda numerous times for the same thing. They are chalking it up to its a cvt engine. It seems to incur after going in reverse and other times it just starts sounding louder in its spin and the rpm is not at normal intervals because it’s almost like a gear shifting mode like it’s stuck in low gear. Also when it becomes sluggish it feels like an engine part is spinning on air versus using gas and oil. Like if the engine is going to shut off mode as I try accelerating and then cars are passing me by. The speedometer is showing one number but the movement of the car here is a lower number. At the same moment the rpm needle bounces around too. Each time this occurs I have to turn the car off at least two or three times before it goes back to normal operation.

I had adaptive cruise turned on and set to 36 mph, a vehicle which was a good distance in front of of me turned left across the oncoming lane and into a parking lot. Even though the car that made the turn was already in the parking lot the car slammed on the brakes. I have the entire incident in video. Of course this problem also exists and is even more dangerous at high speeds. I have complained to Honda USA three times and NHTSA once a few months ago and no response. My daughter who has the same vehicle also experiences these issues. Someone is going to get seriously injured . I’ve had cars behind me almost cause a wreck on the highway because of the slamming on brakes issue . Please advise where I can send the rascal video. It’s a matter of life and death.

I just filled a report but on October 3rd @ 3:34pm the same thing happened where while in cruise control the car just brakes and there was no reason for that to happen.

I purchased the 2025 vehicle in September of 2025. The forward collision warning has never worked properly and will kick out disabling the cruise control. I have brought this issue up at least 3 times at the Honda dealer I purchased it from (verne eide, sioux falls, sd). Each time I was told it this is a "known issue" and there is no fix for it. My only remedy was to disable the forward collision warning in order to be able to use the cruise control. My warranty expires in 6000 miles but they say they can't fix it. The dealer told me today that Honda is aware of the problem but has no fix for it. How is a know safety feature that does not work not considered a safety issue and a recall ordered? Honda has obviously chosen not to address this issue.

First incident. 9/20/2025: car went forward when gear shift was in reverse. I had pulled my car into space on a slight incline in a parking garage. The space inclined downward toward a wall. I needed to back my car back a few inches away from the wall. I put my car into reverse and applied light pressure on the accelerator. The car moved forward. I applied the brake, visually inspected the shift lever to make sure it was in reverse, and applied light acceleration again. Again the car moved forward. I put the car in park, turned it off, restarted it, and put it into reverse again, at which point it worked. Second incident, 9/24/2025: car lurched forward when I removed my foot from the accelerator. In a different parking garage, on level ground, I was driving under 7 mph when I needed to slow down as another car approached from the side. I lifted my foot off the accelerator to slow (but had not applied the brake) and the car lurched forward. I braked, took my foot off the brake, and the car worked normally. These incidents put my car at risk of collision with a wall and another car coming toward me, respectively. The system is available for inspection on request. It has not yet been inspected by anyone, but is scheduled to go to the dealer for inspection. I did not see any messages or warning lamps.

I have 2 issues with my car - the first one has been ongoing and I should have reported it sooner - when using cruise my car will sometimes brake for no reason, it's as if the car sees something that's not there. The second one just occurred and has only happened once. I was driving on the highway using cruise and I got a message on the dash that said something like cruise control disengaged - the cruise turned off and the gas pedal didn't work so I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily, I didn't have to cross any lanes of traffic or it could have been extremely dangerous. I plan to contact the dealer as soon as I am done with this submission. I wanted to be able to tell them that I had notified the NHTSA.

Continuous illumination of all lights on the dash. We have to reset the battery to clear the codes and it will do it again but the timing differs. Now, I am getting the “airbag srs system problem” that pops up and then goes away when the vehicle is restarted. This has been going on for over a year. We have replaced the alternator and continue to try and find the actual malfunction as a code reader just lists all things being illuminated. We are not the first, not the only, and definitely not the last crv owners with this issue. Fix this!!!! I’m highly disappointed in Honda.

Unintended acceleration. On August 8, 2025, Honda c-RV hybrid 2025 (sport touring) accelerated into a wall without the driver touching the gas pedal. The vehicle is deemed a constructive total loss by the insurance carrier. Since it can’t be driven, we are unable to reproduce the problem. A case is open with Honda since the date of the accident; however, there is no urgency to move the case forward.

The vehicle experienced an unintended acceleration in which it unexpectedly increased speed without any input from the driver. At no point was the gas pedal depressed, yet the vehicle accelerated on its own. This sudden and uncommanded movement occurred without warning and was inconsistent with normal vehicle operation, leaving the driver with no intentional control over the acceleration. Following this incident, the manufacturer was contacted; however, despite ongoing attempts to communicate over the past six months, there has been no meaningful correspondence or demonstrated urgency from the manufacturer to investigate or resolve the issue.

Approaching sliding exit gate slowly at 2 mile per hour the Honda suddenly accelerated and crashed into sliding gate. Damaged the gate and the right side of the Honda. Honda was placed in neutral and the engine was turned off. Next day the Honda was transported to the body shop for repairs. Transported by flat bed. Unsafe to drive.

When vehicle starts it shakes for a few seconds then is fine. When I drive and give it gas my car stutters and feels like it wants to shut off. On the highway with acceleration the check engine light comes on blinking and the car loses power. The codes read misfire I replaced the sparks plugs and coils 4 time already just for it to do it again a couple months later. I read this is a common problem and unsafe Honda needs to do something.

June 2, 2025 –started slowing for stoplight and left turn. Car again was not slowing down as expected when braking so I pressed harder on the brake pedal. It slowed down then but I didn’t go to a complete stop because traffic was moving. Instead, I let the car creep a bit while waiting for an opening to turn left. I then drove a couple of blocks to a 4-way stop where the revving started again when the car came to a full stop. I put it into park, and it went to 8000 rpm. I turned it off and back on—again back to 8000 rpm. Wouldn’t come out of park. Turned off again and back on—same thing. Turned off and took my foot off of the brake. The car lurched forward quite a bit before stopping—guess the parking gear took hold then. I started the car again, and the rpm was normal. This is the second occurrence. Occurred first time in late June, 2024. - braking and speed control affected - car trying to accelerate when applying brake can lead to accident harming me and potentially others - problem has occurred three times over the past year - vehicle was checked and diagnostics run by dealership in July, 2024. Nothing found, was not able to recreate the scenario. No diagnostics available. - no warnings, messages, or other symptoms other than car not slowing as expected. Took car back to dealership on 6/6/2025 who reminded me that they didn't find anything last time. Am taking it to different dealer for a check this time.

Driving the car and it lasked power to drive. I could not accelerate. Check the codes code said it was a turbo issue called dealership. Got an appointment. Dealership says it's the turbo and it's twenty seven hundred dollars to repair.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that approximately four times while driving approximately 35 mph, the brake warning light flashed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle unexpectedly came to a complete stop for several seconds before unintendedly accelerating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer who also failed to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

The dash warning lights all come on when the vehicle is started. Numerous warning messages scroll across the dash indicating just about every system on the vehicle is malfunctioning. The collision warning system stops working, the lane change warning stops working, cruise control stops working. I have no idea what else could have stopped working that could mean the difference between life and death. My vehicle has had this problem for almost two years now. This problem stops after disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then it comes back unpredictably. Honda dealerships just guess what the problem is because there are no definitive error codes. They randomly want to change parts like fuel injectors, onboard computer, brakes, battery, and others, and charge thousands of dollars and will not refund the money when the problem reappears. This problem is putting drivers at serious risk and Honda has done absolutely nothing to find and repair the problem. There are hundreds of reports of this problem online and Honda has not responded. Honda dealerships are making tons of money from this issue and doing nothing to solve the problem.

In April 2025 my crv had issues with acceleration. The speed reduced all of a sudden and car couldn't go more than 5 mph, so I took it to the repiar shop. The mechanic told me that cylinder #2 misfired. He replaced the spark plugs and the ignition coil. A few days later after driving for a few miles "stop driving when safe, engine temperature too hot" sign came up. I stopped driving immidiately and got the car towed to the repair shop. After testing the car the mechanic told me that the head gasket leaked and the coolant is mixing with the lubricant. He told me that there is damage to the engine so the engine need to be replaced. I was driving with kids in the car and I believe it compromised the safety of my family when the speed came down all of a sudden on the road and the car stopped accelerating.

I own a 2023 Honda Cr-v sport hybrid and have experienced multiple instances of sudden unintended acceleration. A Honda service technician experienced the issue firsthand while driving my vehicle. He then tested a 2025 Cr-v hybrid and reported similar behavior, suggesting it might be “normal. ” however, I strongly disagree, as the acceleration feels unsafe and abnormal. The vehicle has been inspected by the Honda dealership. A formal diagnosis was performed, but they did not find anything unusual. The service center stated they will not proceed further unless I can replicate the issue, which I cannot due to its intermittent nature. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance, or independent mechanics yet. No. There were no warning lamps, alerts, or error messages before, during, or after the sudden acceleration events.

Driving I would lose all power like inwas out of gas. Would let it sit for a few minutes and it would run normally for a while then stall on the side of the road. Happened 2 times on the interstate and one on a back road.

It happened twice so far, while driving on the highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard. , in a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. Shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. We are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. By searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the car had everyt warning light come on the dashboard- this happened multiple times to many people it's been widely reported online. Honda is covering it up and not doing anything about it. . . . . Every safety feature in teh car ceases to work! and does not operate- the car stalled in the middle of the highway! Honda is aware and hiding this issue. It's affective 2017-2019 crv. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes! I took to the dealer and they're aware of it. . . They said there is no recalls yet. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Honda is supressing this! were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no!.

On [xxx], my 2024 Honda Cr-v hybrid experienced a sudden loss of acceleration while driving on the highway, creating a dangerous situation where I was unable to merge or maintain speed. This put me at immediate risk of an accident as other vehicles were traveling at normal highway speeds. This issue arose less than 136 miles after my vehicle underwent recall repairs on [xxx] at superstition springs Honda in mesa, arizona. The recall repairs included: •fuel pump safety recall (NHTSA recall 24-049) •cvt greasing recall (NHTSA recall 24-123) after the recall repair, my vehicle displayed a dashboard warning on [xxx] stating: ? “emission system problem. Power may be reduced. See your dealer. ” following this warning, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly despite pressing the gas pedal, making highway driving unsafe. I took my vehicle back to the dealership immediately. The dealership categorized this as an emissions system failure but has not confirmed if it is related to the recall repairs. The dealership also stated that I would need to drive 500 miles after any repair to “confirm” the issue is resolved, which is unreasonable and unsafe given the circumstances. This is a serious safety defect. A sudden loss of acceleration on the highway creates a high risk of collisions, injuries, or fatalities. Other 2024 Honda Cr-v hybrid owners have reported similar emission system failures after recall repairs, suggesting this may be a widespread issue. This issue is now under review by Honda corporate (case #[xxx]), but I have not received a clear resolution or assurance that my vehicle will be permanently fixed. I request that NHTSA investigate whether Honda’s recall repairs are causing secondary defects leading to acceleration failures. The issue occurs seemingly randomly about once a month when driving on the highway. All of the sudden the car starts DE-accelerating. Even if you push the gas pedal all the way down it doesn’t go. It just goes slower and slower and thank goodness I’ve been able to pull over every time. Once I shutdown the car completely and turn back on then I have power again.

While driving down the freeway at around 60 mph, I sharply accelerated to negotiate traffic and my vehicle lost power and the check engine light was flashing. I was able to roll to an exit ramp where I could barely get up a slight incline. I was able to get out of traffic but at speed of less than 5 mph. It sounded like the vehicle was running on two cylinders. I pulled over and turned the car off. I was able to re-start the car after which it ran normally. I went directly to the dealership where they were unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue.

Braking system. Vehicle brakes did not brake and vehicle skidded over gravel and a driveway culvert. Vehicle was considered total loss because the airbag went off. My safety and others' was put at risk. Other questions, answer is unknown.

This is the 3rd incident with the same issue. I lose power when on a freeway. (other dates [xxx] and [xxx]). On [xxx] I entered [xxx] and had accelerated onto the freeway. Shortly after getting on the ramp, my check engine light went on/blinking and I couldn't accelerate anymore. I was able to pull over on the shoulder. I turned the car off, waited a minute and then turned it on again and the issue went away. This is the same scenario that I've experienced twice before. I am rarely on freeways. On [xxx], I was on an incline with curves and very little room on the shoulder. This was a very scary incident for me. All of these incidents shouldn't happen and it is very dangerous to lose power unexpectedly when driving on a freeway. Looking on the internet for a solution - I found several other posts on what sounds to be the same issue and unfortunately didn't find a resolution.
