2 Body problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/16/2026

The drivers side (left front door latch) is inoperative. This was a recall from Aug 2012. The latch was replaced in 2012. Yes it is available for inspection. The door opens while driving and had to be tied shut to drive home and Honda dealership. Was told by Honda corporate to drive to the nearest dealership and repairs would be made under safety recall notice from 2012, once they diagnose it as broken. Gerald Honda of mattson diagnosed the problem and ordered the part on 6/16/26. They made an appointment for 6/17/2026 at 9:00am for the repair. The door open warning light intermittently blinks off/on for the two front doors, and dings. There were no warning lights prior to 6/16/26.

3 Body problem of the 2026 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/24/2026

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my new Honda Cr-v which is 6 months old. Water seeped into my parked and closed vehicle, and after that I experienced multiple hazard warning lights on the dashboard while driving on xx, which caused panic and concern for safety. The next day, the vehicle became unresponsive and the battery went dead. This was alarming because the warning lights appeared during highway driving, where a sudden electrical or system failure could create a crash risk. The vehicle had been parked and closed when the water intrusion occurred, so I am concerned there may be a defect related to water sealing, electrical systems, or battery failure. The dealer confirmed that the seal was broken and might have been a manufacturing defect. This caused water seepage. But they were not sure if the water seepage was related to battery giving electrical warnings and going dead. This uncertainty caused more insecurity as we do not know the reason for battery failure exactly when water leaked into the vehicle. Please investigate whether this issue is related to a safety defect. I request that this complaint be reviewed for any pattern involving water intrusion, dashboard warnings, electrical failure, or battery drain in this model. Vehicle information: year: 2026 make: Honda model: Cr-v VIN: [xxx] mileage: 3166 mi date of incident: 05-24-2026 location of incident: [xxx] additional details: water seeped into the vehicle while it was parked and closed. Dashboard hazard lights illuminated while driving on I-95. The next day, the vehicle was unresponsive and the battery was dead. I have photos/videos/repair records. The warning lights were flashing hazard icons and system warning lights. The vehicle lost power and had to be towed to dealership on Tuesday, 05-26. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Body problem of the 2026 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/14/2026

While driving at highway speeds, the factory sunroof glass panel of my brand-new Honda crv spontaneously exploded outward with a loud bang, sounding like a gunshot. There were no vehicles directly ahead of me and no overpasses nearby. The sudden explosion caused immediate driver distraction and threw glass fragments, presenting a severe safety hazard at high speed. There were no warning indicators, physical symptoms, or unusual noises prior to the sudden failure. The vehicle was subsequently brought to an authorized Honda inspector (farrish auto body) for a technical teardown and inspection. The certified estimator formally determined and documented that there was absolutely no evidence of an external impact point, rock strike, or road debris damage, confirming a spontaneous structural glass failure due to a manufacturing or assembly defect. The vehicle is currently un-drivable due to the missing roof panel and structural hazard, and the manufacturer (american Honda corporate case open) and purchasing dealership (darcars Honda of fairfax) have delayed providing a resolution or safe temporary transportation. The component and the vehicle remain available for further official inspection.

5 Body problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

While driving on the interstate, the sunroof shattered. The middle section was completely shattered with glass remaining on the edges. I attempted to contain the remaining pieces by putting duct tape across the whole top. Further down the highway the entire sunroof blew off the vehicle. Not only was this frightening for me, it could have been a real hazard for anyone behind me. Luckily traffic was light and no one was driving directly behind.

6 Body problem of the 2025 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/02/2026

The panoramic sunroof glass on my 2025 Honda Cr-v hybrid spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied in an indoor garage for approximately one week. There was no external impact, airborne object, or temperature extreme involved. The vehicle is stored in a covered underground parking structure. The glass shattered inward, with fragments falling onto the driver seat, passenger seat, center console, and floor. The sunroof frame shows no signs of external force or impact point. The vehicle had approximately 5,194 miles at the time of discovery. No warning lamps or prior symptoms appeared before the failure. The component is available for inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer representative, though I intend to bring it to a Honda dealership. This issue poses a significant safety risk, as spontaneous shattering of glass over an occupied cabin could cause injury to passengers. I am aware of a class action lawsuit (tappana v. American Honda motor CO. , case no. 2:21-cv-09046) alleging Honda has known about this sunroof defect since 1995.

9 Body problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/23/2026

I was driving along I-20/59 northbound approaching bessemer, al near or between mile marker 102-104. Suddenly I heard a “pop” sound coming from behind me and noticed in my rear view mirror the rear windshield had a small hole in it. I had just merged into the far left passing lane when this occurred and then proceeded to merge to exit onto exit 104 (mcashan dr. / mccalla). As I continued to drive glass began to shatter and the hole expanded. I was initially startled and afraid because I didn’t know what was happening. Once I exited, I parked at the flying j truck stop and exited the vehicle to further assess. I called my parents and then a bessemer police officer to file a report. I’m not certain if something hit my windshield, if this is the result of a manufacturing malfunction, or other unknown occurrence due to external factors.

13 Body problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/19/2026

Car was assessed for recall related to service bulletin 23-032. Recall was performed, but the mechanic who performed the recall says the car is not repaired because the rear frame corrosion, as described in bulletin 23-032, is so severe that a large piece is missing from the rear frame. The mechanic says the repair as described in the bulletin is not enough to fix the car. The service bulletin remedy was only performed because the rear trailing arm bolts were able to be removed, but the car is still unsafe due to rear frame corrosion that Honda has admitted to as per the recall. The car is considered unsafe due to the frame damage and likely cannot pass state inspection. After calling Honda, Honda says the repair is complete even though the mechanic who performed the recall says the repair is not complete and the car is unsafe due to issues with rear frame corrosion that led to the recall in the first place. Honda is refusing to discuss the issue any further. A screenshot of the damaged part of the rear frame has been attached. This is part of a video taken by the mechanic who performed the recall. In this video the mechanic also states that “this is not a repair. ” he also states that part of the damage is obscured by the brace that was attached to the frame, so the image provided does not show the full extent of the damage.

14 Body problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/16/2026

The incident: on January 16, 2026, around 9:00 am, while I was driving on the edens expressway from glenview to evanston, I heard a loud "explosion-type" sound.   safety factor: the moonroof spontaneously combusted, but the sunshade was closed due to the 30-degree snowy weather, which fortunately prevented glass from falling on me.   dealer inspection: muller Honda inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the breakage was not caused by rocks, external influences, or negligence.   dispute: despite the car being under warranty and evidence from the dealer, Honda has refused to take accountability. There have been similar reports from other owners and past class action lawsuits involving Cr-v models from 2022 to 2025.

15 Body problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

There was a safety recall for the rear arm control and excessive rust, Honda said they fixed it back in 2018… out of no where my car lost control and caused me to crash, I brought the car back to Honda and the rear arm bracket broke off due to excessive rust however Honda states it was repaired and there is nothing they can do, they won’t even look at the vehicle.

16 Body problem of the 2026 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/20/2025

Driving on the highway, when the glass suddenly shattered, there is no evidence of a projectile causing it.

17 Body problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

During the installation of the rear frame bracket (recommended from the 2011 recall), it was determined the vehicle is unsafe. The frame brace recall not designed for the 2012 crv would not fit the vehicle. Notified customer of the condition of the left control arm. Not safe for the road. Recommended not to drive this vehicle.

18 Body problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

Hello, I have a recall for the corrosion on my Honda crv 2008, american Honda already has everything on file from the dealer ship I took to get it inspected and is been a whole month and american Honda hasn’t reached out to me. I have been asking american Honda if I could get a loaner car or rental as the service manager at the dealership has said he cannot provide a rental until american Honda authorized since obviously some one has to pay for it. And I’m just reaching out if you guys could help me anyway to help me get this sorted out, dealership has already told me the car is un repairable at this point due to the bad corrosion and american Honda has acknowledged that and said someone from the median department or something like that was gonna reach out to me that was 2 weeks ago and I have reached out a week ago and they said someone would reach out and I have not received anything as I have told them, I really need a car since I recently had my baby and you know I need to come to work and go back home. Please if you guys can help me.

21 Body problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

We purchased this vehicle as a Honda certified pre-owned vehicle. I have included a copy of the 182-point inspection checklist that I received when I/we purchased the vehicle. The issue is the weatherstripping on both sides of the middle row. The material does not fit the area and causes wind and weather to effect the interior of the vehivcle. We feel that this issue is a manufacturer defect and should have been detected/rectified during that 182-point inspection. My wife and myself are the only user of the vehicle and we never have a reason to sit in the middle row. Per chance, our daughter's dog was in the middle row and when I turned to check on him, I noticed that weatherstripping issue. Upon reaching home, I further noticed that the issue existed on both the passenger and driver side - middle row doors. I also found a technical information & support group bulletin addressed to "all Honda service managers/advisors", "request for parts: 2023-2024 accord & Cr-v rear door weatherstrip". I realize this bulletin does not address my year vehicle but wanted to bring to light that this seems to be an issue that is prevalent on the Cr-v. We notified the dealer who inspected and confirmed that the issue exists but were told that because the care is not longer under original warranty, the repair would cost us $600+. We have since notified american Honda USA under the extended warranty we purchased and feel that they are dragging their feet on this issue. I received a call from american Honda USA and agreed to a settlement to have the issue resolved at the dealer where we bought the vehicle for a total out-of-pocket to me of $200 + taxes. I was supposed to get a call from the dealer to schedule the repair but nothing. I contacted Honda America once again and am being told it is being looked into.

23 Body problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

Honda crv was purchased in new york in 2014 and has been registered in texas since 2023. The car has approximately 76600 miles (substantially lower than 132,000 miles average mileage). According to team gillman Honda dealership. The car has undergone severe rusting leading to coolant leak. I was asked to replace the radiator, hoses, welding of convertor and exhaust pipes. The bill exceeds 5000 usd/- (according to the dealer). Rooster car care has quoted a 6000 usd/- for similar fixes. So far, I have already spent 550 usd/- and the repairs have failed Honda did issue a recall for 564,000 Honda crv's made between 2007-2011 driven in salt belt states. This information is publicly available.

24 Body problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

On October 6, 2025 my wife was distracted by a popping sound while driving her 2021 Honda Cr-v and did not notice any rocks, birds etc. At her destination no damage was found after a walk around inspection. A few days later while driving she heard rattling in the overhead and slid open the moonroof shade to discover the glass was shattered. Honda of ocala quoted $1265, (minus 15% wild card any service discount) for parts and labor to repair. Once vehicle was in the shop service advisor said there would be an additional $459 charge for two hours labor to guarantee all glass was removed. An internet search revealed there was a class action law suit for Cr-v moonroofs spontaneously shattering. Service manager was aware of law suit and offered additional $150 discount. Total cost $1491.

25 Body problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

The paint is gradually chipping off around my door frames.

26 Body problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/21/2025

The driver side mirror vibrates, especially at highway speeds. It creates a distorted view. The dealership has replaced the glass. It did not remedy the issue. I took it in a second time and they replaced the entire mirror assembly. Still did not fix it. I took it in the third time and they said it is just a characteristic of this generation of crv’s. It seems that Honda does not have a way to remedy the vibrating mirror problem. I find it very distracting while driving and it could potentially be a safety issue down the road with the distorted rear view.

27 Body problem of the 2003 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/03/2025

Corrosion of the rear frame led to the trailing arm separating, and I nearly hit a tree.

28 Body problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

Tailgate latch stopped working and would no longer stay shut. This caused safety risk by allowing contents of the trunk to become unsecured and potentially exit the vehicle while driving. The car was taken to a shop where the malfunction was confirmed and the part replaced. There were no indications of the malfunction other than a warning that the tailgate was open.

29 Body problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

My 2014 crv has 83,131 miles and I am a careful driver and like to keep my vehicle in top shape. The service done was replaced outer tie rod ends that were cracked and I could have lost control , replaced front lower control arms, replaced front struts, replaced rear sway bar bushings, reseal coolant passage housing , head gaskets, my vehicle could have quit in traffic. The top of my crv has paint faded and gone to a white powder look. There are things that a car with low miles driven carefully and taken very good car of should not be happening. There should be recalls because there are issues with timing chains and fuel system. I am scared to drive it anymore. I won't stay loyal to Honda now and I am very disappointed that they know these issues and haven't attempted to fix them.

30 Body problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/06/2025

As I was backing out of a driveway the car suddenly accelerated in reverse. The brake did not stop or slow the vehicle. As a result the car's right fender hit a large oak tree. There was damage to the fender, the door and to the undercarriage. In addition, my wife who was sitting in the passenger seat was thrown back and she struck her head on the top seat belt connection. She had a cut in the back of her head that required an emergency room visit to the local hiospital. They did a cat scan and they used seven staples close the wound. There were several messages flashed on the dash that indicated brake and cruise control issues. These messages wer of very short duration and could not be recazlled.

31 Body problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

Hood wobbles crazy while driving highway speed as if it is going to open or come out. Seem the outer panel of hood has rust by the joints where it is joined to the inner panel of the hood. Almost all the joints seem to be not joined well together. This is a structural body issue, car is less than 3 years old. And currently I have about 55k miles on it. Noticed the hood wobble when it had less than 30,000 miles but upon checking under the hood there were no visible signs of defect. But recently(51k mile roughly) after a car wash I opened the hood to see the inside of the car, that's when I noticed that the hood inner joints have rust and are not joint together properly with inner panel of the hood. Reached out to the dealership but they deny to fix this as it has been more than 36000 miles. At the dealership there was another person with 2025 Honda crv, I checked with the owner to let me see if his car had similar issue or not. Upon checking the hood his car's one of the joint was loose ( given that car is less than an year old so there was no rust. ) seems Honda is used some adhesive to stick the metal panels of the hood together which start to deteriorate over time. There are many crv owners who are having similar issue but the dealership resolves the issue for them given that they have less than 36000 miles on it. Honda does have "rust perforation limited warranty" which is valid until 5 years, but for them to fix the car there has to be rust perforation aka hole in the panel inside out to fix it. Does this mean I have to wait for another 2 years and 5 months for the rust to progress and cause a hole in the panel inside out?? what if I start seeing the rust perforation right after 5 years. Honda will fix this for me or I have to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed. Also my car has never been in any kind of accident, it has the panel which came from the Honda factory. Also it is not a flood vehicle either for it to start getting rust. Please see attached pics.

32 Body problem of the 2026 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/21/2025

Driver side mirror vibrates at highway speeds causing blurred image. The housing is secure but the mirror itself begins to vibrate at 50mph making it difficult to see the approaching traffic. The vibration and blurred vision gets worse as speed increases. I've had it up to 75mph and the mirror looks quite blurry and additionally unclear if the road is bumpy. It is difficult to see what is behind and beside me which is a safety concern especially when trying to switch lanes. The passenger side mirror is fine. The Honda dealer took it for a test drive and was able to duplicate the issue. They also took all of the similar models on the lot for a ride and had the same issue. They tried to fix the existing assembly but it seems worse now. They are ordering a replacement mirror and housing to install and see if it fixes it. They also told me that it may be the how the car is which I know is inaccurate. The existing assembly is available for inspection though I'm guessing the dealership will take it when it gets replaced. The issued occurred the first time I got on the highway after I purchased the car new.

33 Body problem of the 2025 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/21/2025

Subject: safety concern – hood instability on 2025 Honda Cr-v hybrid dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a potential safety defect with my 2025 Honda Cr-v hybrid. The hood does not close securely and exhibits visible gaps, uneven alignment, and noticeable movement or rattling at highway speeds. This raises serious concerns about the structural integrity of the hood and the possibility of it disengaging while driving. I brought this issue to lia Honda, where I was told the movement is “by design” and not a defect. However, the instability is significant enough to cause distraction and fear of hood failure at high speeds. I believe this warrants further investigation, especially as I’ve learned that other Cr-v hybrid owners have reported similar experiences. I respectfully request that this issue be documented and reviewed as a potential safety defect. I am happy to provide photos, videos, or additional documentation upon request.

34 Body problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/17/2025

Complete rear tire assembly came loose from the unibody frame from rust. Not a drop of rust on the body of the car. Thank god we weren’t on the highway. They told me it was unfixable. Thank you Honda. And the recall stopped at 2011? Honda obviously doesn’t care about safety and human life.

35 Body problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/12/2025

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the handling of the recall for my 2007 Honda Cr-v due to frame corrosion. During the recall service, only a bracket was installed under the wheel well, addressing a single area despite extensive rust present throughout the frame and underbody. I believe the vehicle should have been considered for a buyback rather than a limited repair. Recently, my vehicle failed its safety inspection due to a rust hole in the frame, making it unsafe to drive and only suitable for scrap. When I contacted Honda for further assistance, I was informed that only recall-related issues would be addressed, and no additional support was offered. The presence of severe rust and a compromised frame poses significant safety risks, including: •increased likelihood of structural failure in the event of a collision, which could result in serious injury or death. •reduced effectiveness of critical safety components, such as seat belts and airbags, due to weakened mounting points. •higher risk of suspension or wheel detachment while driving, potentially causing loss of vehicle control. I am deeply concerned about the safety implications and the inadequate resolution of the recall.
