1 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/17/2017

I purchased this vehicle in may of 2017. As the days got shorter and I was having to drive more at night I realized that there was a problem with the night visibility when turning. When making a turn at an unlighted intersection you can not see around the corner to make a safe turn. There is a very narrow illumination pattern in front of the vehicle. I was told by the dealership that I could install fog light and that would help with the problem. This is a definite design flaw on the 2015 model of the crv. I notice that the headlights were designed differently on the 2016 model. Is there a redesigned headlight assembly that is available for this model to correct this problem? this creates a dangerous situation when you are turning at areas where there is no additional light during the nighttime hours.

2 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

With greater experience with the vehicle since my last report, I am writing to reiterate how extremely deficient the headlights on this vehicle are. In unlit, rural areas, the low beams are inadequate and require the use of fog lights on all the time for increased illumination. When the high-beams are engaged (fog-lights automatically go out), near-field illumination virtually disappears. I have written directly to the ceo of american Honda, and included print-outs of numerous reports of this concern which are widely posted on the internet. I subsequently received a phone call from a regional customer service rep. Instructing me to take this up with a dealer. I have now done so and the dealer reports this performance is "normal" for this car. I implore your agency to undertake an investigation so that tragedies to not have to occur first before any action is taken by the company. In the meantime, I find myself adjusting travel plans and driving times for the sake of the safety of my family.

3 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2013 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/13/2013

Low beams & fog lights work well . But the high beams are awful // using high beams we have a 30 to 40 yard field of darkness in front of us . Could not see if anything or anyone ran in front of the car . Very dangerous. Dealer says the lights are working normally nothing can be done. Honda should do something about this dangerous situation.

4 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

For the first time since purchasing the vehicle in February 2012, I was driving in dark and rainy conditions this morning, taking our son to school. I had both the headlights and fog lights on, and I was amazed that the lights hardly lit up the road in front of me at all. The car was clean and the light lenses were not dirty at all. I couldn't believe how poor the car's front lighting was in these conditions. Normally, when it wasn't raining, I thought the car's lights were sufficient. Not great, but sufficient. Since Honda does not offer any higher intensity head light bulbs, I will check with aftermarket suppliers. Honda is known as a very safety conscious car company. Having headlights that perform so poorly in the rain seems like a safety related defect to me. Many vehicles on the road today have much better and brighter headlights. Considering the price of the 2012 Honda Cr-v ex-l, it seems like Honda should have installed higher intensity or even xenon headlights.

5 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2013 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/27/2012

It is not safe to drive at night! I have purchased a 2013 Honda crv ex awd in December 2012. I test drove my car and purchased it around 12 noon so that is why I did not get a chance to test the head lights. Unfortunately, they give you a very poor visibility, especially, it's high beams are even worst than the low beams. When you drive at night you don't feel safe and must use your fog lights!!!! it is sad but true. . . I hope that Honda will notice the problem and replace those terrible head lights.

6 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Why has the 2005 not been recalled for exterior lighting. The bulbs frequently needed replaced and then the went out for good. We can use the fog lights and the high beams but not the low beam head lights. We've changed fuses and bulbs with not result. Please add this to the recall.

7 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

The headlights no longer work. We can use the fog lights and the brights but not the headlights. We've had the bulbs and the fuses changed without any result. Other years for this same model have been recalled for this issue, but not the 2005 as of yet.

8 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/26/2012

I have had the headlights adjusted 3 times. There is insufficient light to drive by at night. I do not feel safe on the road in this vehicle after dark. The dealer said it is the nature of the new reflective lights which do not shine out. He said there is nothing else they can do to fix them. I reported the issue to Honda America and they say they will do nothing unless the lights are defective. Apparently not being able to see at night is not a defect. I have to drive with them on high beams to be able to see at all and if I switch to low beam upon meeting another vehicle I have to come to a dead stop as I cannot see where I am in the road. There is no beam which is directly in front of your drive path. Low beam with fog lights or high beam; neither is sufficient light to drive by. I live in a rural area with no street lights and lots of deer. I need the headlights replaced on this vehicle to be a safe driver. I have seen other complaints on the internet and am asking the nhsa to force Honda to recall these vehicles to have the lights replaced with a different type of lighting. I barely feel able to drive on familiar roads there is no way I can take this vehicle to an unknown area at night. Please recognize this issue as a safety hazard. I am not interested in a law suit. I just want to be safe in my 2012 Honda crv.

9 Fog Light Switch problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/12/2011

Both low beam headlights would not turn on tonight when I got into the car to drive home from work after dark. Fog lights also will not turn on. High beam headlights work. No blown fuses. Slight burning smell in passenger compartment. Both low beam headlights and both fog lights worked yesterday. Have not had this problem checked by dealer or mechanic yet. Left headlight was replaced two months ago, right headlight was replaced one month ago, both by local Honda dealer. I bought this Honda Cr-v ex new in 2002 and have never had this problem before. I had the Honda dealer add fog lights to this Cr-v in 2004. Really was surprised to find that both low beams and both fog lights failed at the same time.
