2 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

As I was driving down a city street, the right rear suspension control arm came loose from the frame. The right wheel tire subsequently became lodged against the rear of the wheel well at an angle. I was able to maneuver the car to the side of the road. Police arrived to block off the nearest lane so I could safely be towed from the scene, as the car was undrivable. I am fortunate that this did not happen at high speed, as I do not believe I would have safely been able to maintain control of the vehicle. The control arm came loose due to excessive rust on the frame. The area around the mounting location for the arm is torn away from the frame, the nuts and bolts are still attached to the fragments of frame they were originally mounted to. This model year crv is under recall for excessive corrosion in canadian provinces where road salt is extensively used in winter. This model was purchased in minnesota, where road salt is extensively used in winter.

2008 Cr-v subframe/rear control arm rusted so severely came apart while driving. Very fortunate there was not an accident, this caused sudden loss of control of vehicle. Had to be towed and is now inoperable and unable to be repaired. There is a recall in canada to address this condition, why not the united states? we contacted Honda customer service to inquire and no response from them. This is a very dangerous condition that gave no warning. The body is not rusted.

4 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/24/2019

I recently brought my 10 year old car in for its yearly state safety inspection and I was informed that corrosion on the left rear underside of the car was irreparable. This included corrosion between the uni body and undercarriage, compromising the integrity of the control arms. After doing research online, I noted that Honda has an active recall in canada for a similar defect, but not in the us. I contacted Honda of north America and asked if they could provide any assistance or compensation for this issue, which essentially renders the car unusable, and they told me they could not.

6 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/28/2018

While being driven at 55-60 mph on a 4 lane highway the driver side rear suspension control arm broke free from the unibody causing the rear tire to twist sideways and lodge in the wheel well. The driver side rear axle pulled free from the rear differential due to detachment. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, but used both lanes and the vehicle width shoulder of the road to due so. Had another vehicle been close by an accident would have resulted. The crv had been nys inspected 2 months prior with no signs of an impending problem. Pictures are attached showing the detached driver side and also the intact passenger side. After taking pics showing an intact mount on the passenger side a hammer was used to check the structure and it was possible to open up a hole on that side as well. The vehicle was driven in NY during the winter, thus road salt was encountered. The only part of the crv affected by rust was the mounting location of both rear control arms due to an area where moisture and salt can enter, but not escape. The rest of the undercarriage and exterior body were rust free. Honda was contacted, but unwilling to take any action due to age and miles on vehicle. The case# and last correspondence with Honda is included--no response from Honda.

Failure Date: 09/16/2015

Honda dealer in flagstaff, az, indicated that the front compliance bushings are torn on my2016 Honda crv and need to be replaced. I have learned that the Honda bushings are not made of a solid/quality component and are failing at unusual rates which equate to unsafe driving and costly repair for the consumer. Is there a concern for suspension/alignment and steering problems due to torn bushings and is this related to the control arm bushing recall for Honda crv 2006 id#12v124000?.

Honda did not mention the NHTSA campaign id 12v12400, (suspension front control arm lower arm). I felt like the Honda rep did not explain my options, and did not listen to my concerns. At this time, the mechanic made me aware of NHTSA campaign id 12v12400 as well as many complaints on line of Honda ac compressor problems and the class action lawsuit (now over).
