1 Engine problem of the 2012 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/25/2011

My car engine does not respond to the accelerator when starting from a standstill with the steering wheel turned to the right or left. This has happened seven times in the 1300 miles I have driven the car. This abnormal condition has left me momentarily stopped in the middle of busy intersections. I find that if I am steering straight ahead, the vehicle will not malfunction but when it does happen, pressing the accelerator to the floor will cause the engine to respond, eventually. Honda should address this serious and potentially dangerous condition.

2 Engine problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/25/2010

Malfunction 1: while being driven with cruise control engaged, car without any dashboard signal warning begins to progressively and involuntarily decelerate. It will not respond to application of the increase speed button on the cruise control panel nor will it increase speed with the accelerator pedal is pushed. Eventually the car will shut off on its own. Takes multiple tries of restarting it to get it to move again. Dates: 11-25-10 & 1-30-11. Malfunction 2: the gears periodically will not engage between 2nd, 3rd, 4th. This lasts a few seconds while the car is moving. Since 9/2010, this has happened 4 times. Updated ivoq 03/04/11.

3 Engine problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/05/2009

Leaving client's driveway, put car in reverse and backed out of driveway stopping at the opposite side, across the street. Turned steering in the direction I was heading and placed car in drive. Lifted my foot off brake and car took off without my foot touching the accelerator. It was like I had depressed the accelerator to the floor and my foot never touched the accelerator. I hit a parked car. I was terrified.

4 Engine problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/12/2007

At 6:00 pm last Friday, I drove my 2007 Honda Fit over a low-lying parking barrier left out in the middle of a parking lot. Upon hitting the barrier, my engine rpms went out of control and the car would not stop in spite of the fact that I had my foot jammed on the brake. To avoid crashing head on into a concrete wall, I turned and hit a parked car. My own car did not stop until it was high-sided on another, properly placed, parking barrier. The car has been towed and I am not aware if the defect has been identified or repaired.

5 Engine problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/28/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit sport. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power, sputtered, hesitated, and performed as if a cylinder was misfiring. When the rpms exceed 3,000, the contact must slow the vehicle down so that it will drive normally. The vehicle has been at the dealer for one day. They performed a diagnostic, but found no failures. The vehicle is in the same condition and the contact does not feel safe driving. In addition, the coil packs need to be repaired, which he assumed to be the cause of the failure. The spark plus have already been replaced. The coil packs are on backorder and no one has the parts available. The hesitation of the vehicle has been occurring for approximately one year. The failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 112,000.
