Hello, the vehicle needs new tires and the alignment is not working properly after going 60 mph on the highway it shakes.
One main problem I have consistently noticed is signs someone other than me is getting in my car or leaving at least impression they did inside the car alot although I am the only one supposed to have a key. It was happening so much I paid lafontaine Honda more than $1000 to change out the keys including the ignition but that hasnt resolved the problem. I still see normal evidence they are actually touching things inside my car and even stealing alot of fuel which they took so much last night it was ridiculous. I keep sending my local police reports and photos of as much as I can using the tipline and they never contact me back like they either ignoring, staying anonymous, or have no time to read my messages. They fuel is being stolen everytime I fill the tank by someone nearbye. The next issue is that there is a malfunction clearly feels like it is inside the steering wheel mechanics and not my tires that something or one is overriding the steering when I am on the freeway and highway jerking me in the direction of other vehicles when they start passing me like they trying to make them think I am threatening to hit them or threatening me to cause a collision. Exactly how it feels. They were even doing it to lyrics in the music while I was driving alot the whole trip there and back. The car seems very insecure. I see also that other people in like models cars locally are popping up on me like they have a gps on me and that is threatening. The steering wheels ignition switch was checked and I told them of the intrusion problems but they offered me no solution. Insurance is not helping me with repairs of anything and wont even offer me an option to get me discounts on car repairs or inspection help. I cant even report that type of stuff. Police also wont inspect a car but sends me away to a mechanic all the time. I think the previous owner may have modded a bunch of the parts but it is my car and should only be responding to me. Not others.
Eco system causes vehicle front end to shake when activated thought it was wheel balance and nothing front alignment and still does the same thing.
High pressure hoses.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump hose had malfunctioned causing a power steering fluid leak. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Engine leaking oil and smoke appears when the van is on seats feel loose.
Upon acceleration of the vehicle on all roads there is an uncontrollable shaking. From a complete stop or from driving and trying to accelerate,.
When starting or parking car p/s does not work. Also loud grinding noise when turning. Had pressure hose changed. Situation getting worse and is becoming dangerous. From mu mechanic and the internet learned that Honda had silent recall but was never notified and that recall was up to 100k. This is a saftey issue and a mandatory recall should be launched. This seems to be a common problem from what I have been reading. This has been going on for some time.
Power steering stiff at low speeds or parking and very loud howling noise, mechanic state there is a recall but I do not see any, almost had numerous accidents due to this issue of stiff steering and unable to turn.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle lost steering ability. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 58,000.
My van makes a very loud whining noise when in motion and turning the wheel.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 5 mph, there was an abnormal rattling sound and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
The rear lower motor mounts wear out prematurely and cause unwanted vibrations and steering play. This is a known issue and has not been rectified. The dealership charges $800 to replace the defective parts.
Driving in a parking lot to find a parking space. Environmentals: torrential downpour, but road and parking lot surface not flooded. Attempting to make a left turn into a parking space, the power steering (assist) failed. Could not turn steering wheel. Stopped vehicle. Turned off air conditioning. Engaged foot brake. Put vehicle in neutral. Lifted foot off of brake pedal. Waited approximately 1 minute. Foot on brake. Put vehicle in in drive. Air conditioning remained off. Power steering assist had returned. Able to park into parking space. Vehicle shudders while accelerating and worse with turning left onto freeway onramps etc. Causes some difficulty steering and need to enter freeway at very slow speed disrupting traffic.
Driving at 50 mph on a Friday night. My van suddenly gave a loud explosive sound and the cabin filled up with smoke and I could not breathe or see properly. I wondered what was going on and quickly pulled up on the side of the road. It took me some time to get out of the van since I am disabled. My husband had to literally speaking, carry me out and sat me on the side of the road. Passers by had already called 911 when they noticed what was going on. The police, ambulance and fire dept came. The fire dept determined that my van was smoking heavily and they took care of the fire in my engine when they opened the hood. The van was towed to the dealership and they informed me that my transmission was defective. The only problem was that this will then be the third transmission in a van that is less than 8 years old. I had a similar problem in July 2011 at 80,000 miles and the transmission was replaced then with promises from Honda that I was good for another 5 years. So when this problem occurred exactly 2 years to the time that the second transmission was replaced, I reported the problem to Honda and they want me to pay for a third transmission. This is despite the fact that I always serviced my van with the dealership. It has never been serviced with the local repair shop. I am still making car payments on my van and they want me to pay for a new transmission? I will appreciate an investigation on why Honda is allowed to sell lemons to consumers even though they are aware of transmission problems on the Odyssey vans. Smoke and fire due to recurring transmission problems on the same van is a safety issue. I pray that no one will be killed or injured due to recurring transmission problems with Honda Odyssey vans. Thanks in advance for your assistance in protecting and ensuring consumer safety as we drive our cars.
Power steering groans loudly in weather below 70 degrees. The blogosphere is rife with reports of a faulty o-ring placement in these Odyssey's that impacts that operation of the power steering.
Driving on a major 4 lane highway @ approx. Speed of 70. Suddenly the steering went out of control. It was loose, but I was unable to control. The road was dry, tempurature was about 70 degrees. Fortunately,I was able to glide to a grassy median strip without hitting anybody,or have them hit me. The vehicle was towed to a local garage. They could find no problem. We contacted Honda customer service, who told us to bring it to a dealer which we did. They had no findings. Both of these places feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but told us to come and get it. We,needless to say, are very afraid to drive it. We have never had anything to complain about with this van.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle suddenly. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle and noticed that the inner and outer tie-rod connect had fractured. The contact had the vehicle towed home. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The contact did not take the vehicle to a mechanic or dealer. The failure mileage was 58,180. The VIN was not available.
Steering wheel locks up midway into steering when turning. This happened twice today. You have to steering it other way or loosens up after few seconds. I have had the recall service already performed regarding recent hard to steer at low speed. Now it completely locks up - major safety hazard!!!.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the steering wheel would become very difficult to turn approximately thirty minutes after the vehicle was started. The steering wheel required excessive force to make turns during the failures. The contact also stated that the power steering fluid reservoir was not large enough to maintain an adequate amount of fluid. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the reservoir would need to be replaced with a larger version. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 39,700.
While driving in light rain, my steering completely froze. I was making a left hand turn to cross an intersection and could not steer at all. This has happened a few times in the last few years. I spoke with Honda International after hearing from the local dealer they have been hearing about this issue. So much so, that a mechanic from the shop was fixing clients cars on the side. He started installing some sort of splash guard after it happened to his wife's Odyssey. I was told by Honda International, not to drive when the road is wet.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While the vehicle was in the park position, the contact heard a loud buzzing noise intermittently thirty minutes after the vehicle was started. When attempting to turn the steering wheel in any direction, the noise became louder. The dealer was notified a diagnostic test was scheduled. The contact did not inform the manufacturer. The current mileage was approximately 42,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 41,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact was driving 20 mph and attempting a left turn when the steering wheel became abnormally resistant. Two days prior to the failure, the esc warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where the steering rack bolts were replaced. The dealer advised that the steering bolts had fractured from the vehicle. The current and failure mileage was 118,000.
Driving car and the steering started to whine and screech very loudly. Turned wheel in both directions and noise continued. Shut car off and started again and the noise continued. Went online and found out that a lot of 06' models have issues with the steering reservoir design choking the steering motor. Called the dealership, 50k on my van, and described the problem. The service tech new immediately what is was and suggested I replace the steering reservoir so has not damage the motor further at it was a $700 fix vs $85. Asked how come this was not under recall as the reservoir had three (3) tech bulletins issued and 3 redesigns to solve the steering problem. Said tech bulletins don't mean recalls and I was over the 36k warranty so I was on my own. I paid for the repair and the noise stopped.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While driving 10 mph there was a sound in the steering wheel. The dealer stated that the reservoir was clogged and needed to be replaced. The contact is concerned about the safety risk. The current mileage was 64,000. The failure mileage and VIN were not available.
Steering locked up while driving resulting in head on accident.
Whining noise coming from the power steering after driving more than 40miles in cold temperature (below 45deg f). Also experience steering stiffness causing decreased ability to steer. Had the ps fluid and reservoir replaced dec12 2009 and the problem was temporally solved. Noise and stiffness solved but problem returned Nov 21 2010.
Loss of power steering at low speeds or while standing, making it extremely difficult to maneuver, particularly in and out of parking spaces. Very dangerous when attempting to parallel park on a busy street, or merge into busy traffic from a parking place.
Steering problem caused by a problem in our 2006 Honda Odyssey.
Power steering on 2006 Honda Odyssey fails at low speeds requiring driver to quickly turn the steering wheel much harder than normal in order to turn the vehicle.
Have had this vehicle since new (July 2006). Vehicle/steering/wheels experience significant vibration at 65 to 70mph. Have changed tires, all suspension parts and nothing seems to solve this problem. Been going on since vehicle was new. Have been to dealership many many times and spent a lot of money based on dealership service recommendation but still problem persists. This vehicle is defective and Honda needs to issue recall for this generation of Odysseys as I have read about this issue with many owners of this same type vehicle.
I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey Mini van. Since Feb 2009, the power steering assisting system failed to work at low speed. It's hard to operate the steering wheel at this moment. Most time it happened when I try to make a turn in park lot or local road. This problem also happened when I divert from high way to the ramp. This could be a safety issue.
The power steering went out on my 2006 Honda odyessy. It appeaers too be happening on all the 2006 Honda odyessy van. The power steering does not work at all. I feel it is unsafe especially at low speeds. I beleive it could easily lead too an acedent.
Power steering flywheel fell off and the car completely died draining the battery. This resulted in loss of power steering at approx 35mph. When tried to pull to the side of the street, the car power system failed. The battery was drained completely and lost all electrical functions of the car. The car had to be pushed to the side in busy street. It required the assistance from good samaritans. Safety hazard if in remote area and or busy street.
