2007 Honda lx brake pedal is soft and variable when applied. Sometimes it 'brakes' near the top of the pedal, sometimes in the middle of the push of the pedal, and has on several occasions gone inexplicably to within 1/2 inch of the floor.

Brakes make a grinding sound when applied.
We own a new 5 months 2007 Honda Odyssey, and the brakes are very mush. We have use lots of force on the foot to get this car stop. I think there is a defect. I took it to Honda dealer in san marcos, texas. They said there no such problems with the brake system. My wife afraid to drive this car because might rear end some one. Please contact us any helpful information or what we need to do to get this fix. I search the internet and it seem many other Honda Odyssey owners have the same problem.
I have a complaint to file on the 2005 Honda Odyssey ex model. For the past several months, we have noticed that whenever we pressed on the brakes, there is a loud creaking sound, a sound of metal creaking as if it is about to snap. It happens whenever we have to brake suddenly or do a hard stop. And when we do a hard stop, the creaking sound is accompanied by a sensation of hesitation coming from the brakes, as if the brakes have skipped or slipped and they had to tighten again to stop. As a result, our braking distance is quite tight and we have to give ourselves even greater distance to brake safely. But in hard and sudden stops, we don't have that luxury and thus far we have been lucky that we have not hit anyone or anything. But we have had close calls. I have contacted Honda several times regarding this issue and gone to several dealers to get this issue resolved. Each time I have been told that Honda is aware of this issue but they are still working on a fix for this problem. In the meantime, I am forced to drive a van in which I have lost confidence in its braking system.

Clear driving conditions no water, oil or mud on pavement. Driver was attentive. I had stopped in turn bay, crossed over three traffic lanes to side street. Then immediately made a left turn into parking lot and a right turn into parking space. As I entered parking space the brake pedal went all the way to the floor without any deceleration, jumped a small curb and hit a tree. I noticed an odor of burning oil or rubber at impact. The Honda dealer checked the brakes and could not find any defect and then denied any liability for accident. Since they could not find a problem, and I know the pedal went down to the floor, I am afraid to continue to drive the vehicle as it could happen again and be a more serious accident. Others have reported the same problem to NHTSA. The dealer refused to buy the van back at any price even after the damage was restored to its original condition. Dt.
On 4/12/02 - {"normal, non-severe braking conditions"}: was not raining. Didn't drive through water, mud, or oil. Wasn't driving off-road, down mountains, or down any hill. Wasn't riding brake, or doing 1800 braking maneuvers. --- drove 1 mile, in town. Parked for about 20 minutes. Drove 1/10 mile, in town. --- applied brakes normally. {"other than return spring, with no resistance pedal went to floor with zero deceleration"}: {pedal was not hard, was not soft. It traveled with no resistance, no pressure, moved freely. } {pedal didn't go a little farther than normal. It went completely to floor. } {brakes did not lock, did not brake slowly. It was zero deceleration, no braking, no slowing. } --- released pedal. Braked hard to avoid hitting another vehicle. Came to quick stop. Has not reoccurred.
I am a sharp 62 year old with a perfect driving record. I was pulling onto an off-street parking space at a slowed crawl pace. My foot was already on the brake because I had slowed to enter the parking space and I applied more pressure to the brakes to come to a complete stop. The vehicle jumped into a high acceleration moving the parked car in front of me 5 feet which slowed me down. I came to a complete stop only when I turned off the key and removed my foot from the brake. Do not discriminate because I am 62 - this was not operator error.
Brake system overheated after repeated application of brakes. This resulted in increased stopping distance and erratic operation of brakes. Dealership informed consumer there was nothing that could be done for this problem. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

This is a brand new minivan, purchased with only 9 miles in odometer. After a week of driving it, it began to feel like it need it more rev in order to pick-up speed, specially when driving in freeway conditions (traffic). The van did not downshift as expected for about 10 minutes, in order to gain speed, I had to press the accelerator until the engine reached 3k rpm, and even then the transmission noise continued. It is not a continuos occurance, it is doing it every four to five days. I took the van to the dealer where I bought the van and service inspected the vehicle through a computer, which detected nothing wrong with the van, although the service manager had noticed the problem. In the first instance I was given the van back without anything done to it, except for a transmission fluid flush. Five days latter, on April 17, 2000 the noise and train problem showed up again, this time more serious. I took the van to another dealer, and they performed a computer test that again showed nothing wrong with the vehicle, however the new service adviser did notice the problem when he took it for a test drive. Honda was contacted and the company adviced a complete replacement of the transmission. Being such a popular model the needed transmission is not available and according to Honda it will take up to 30 days to get a replacement , hopefully new. Another area of concern is the brake pedal, one can hear the booster when pressing the pedal and at times the brakes do not engage inmediatelly. So far service has not been able to look into the problem since the transmission matter is of more importance. I really appreciate this opportunity to inform your agency of the problems I have encounter. Sincerely, rene rodriguez.

Please contact me so I may mail or fax the long history of defects on this vehicle. Currently I wish to address the unsafe brakes on this vehicle. Thank you.
Whenever vehicle hit bump sounds like sliding door is ajar. The brakes sound like tractor trailer. Took to dealer & mechanic changed the lining on brakes.
Upon applying the brakes a growling and a thumping sound seems to be coming from the wheels; sounds like an impact is occurring underneath the vehicle. Causes vehicle to shimmy. Been in/out of dealer shop on five occasions, and problem still remains unresolved. Consumer has also experienced problems with the ignition--key will not turn to allow car to start, even after new keys were tried.
