1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

Tires prurchased from walmart 10/6/18 were installed improperly and they changed the manufactures calibration. The tpms light came on, I returned the van to walmart; they never fixed the problem and I made five visits. The manager did not know what a tpms sensor was; did not have any in the shop. I frequently had the air pressure in the tire checks. Two weeks ago, driving the van the tires seemed to be wobbly, I had the air pressure checked again and again. On April 15, 2021, I filed a complaint with walmart at the main office and took the SUV to the hammond, indiana car center. After haggling with the staff fo over 4 hours, they replaced the two tire. The problem of the wobbling tires had not been solved. Only the wobbling was less noticeable. I made over 20 telephone calls to the car center without the phone being answered. Today I filed another complaint with walmart headquarters. Martha, the person that took the complaint stated that I would be contacted by the car center. This center should be closed; lives are at stack and the workers are rude and are not following the tread act. I never experienced the tpms coming on until walmart replaced my tires. My mechanic drive the SUV and his observation was "the front tires are out of round by 1/4 inch and inner side wall bulging". His first observation was in October 2018, shortly after walmart installed the tires. On 4/15/21, I contacted goodyear and they gave no information on tpms . I do not feel safe driving this SUV ad I believe that walmart is violating the tread act. They reluctantly replaced the tires, but even worse the tpms light is still on. There were no notifications posted on the walls in that car center. In addition, my son recently purchased tires for his SUV from this same walmart he was not given any information about tpms sensors and none were installed.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Electrical issues: after driving vehicle for 2 5 minutes, entertainment system, rear entertainment screen and parking sensors stop working. The speakers make loud popping sound that will not go away even when you try to power off radio/entertainment system. Turning the vehicle off was the only way to stop the sound. Once restarted, everything would work for 2 5 minutes and the same thing would happen. The speakers popping were very loud and distracting, screen with backup camera and parking sensors stopped working making the vehicle not drivable.

4 Brake Sensor problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

Traction control / abs activates while turning at 10 - 30 mph regardless of road conditions. Honda dealer indicates the yaw rate cluster sensor for abs requires replacement. This is a know defect that was recalled on 2008 and earlier Honda Odyssey products. It appears that the same part is used up to 2011. Honda says this is my problem, there is no defect.

5 Brake Sensor problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the vsa sensor illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than twice. The code was cleared by the dealer and they replaced the brake switch, but the failure recurred. When the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle in an attempt to reset the computer software, the vsa sensor was still illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer a third time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 10v504000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

6 Brake Sensor problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the vsa warning light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the 60,000 mile service was performed. The contact was advised by the mechanic that a pressure sensor in the control unit (part number: 6601) had failed, which resulted in the vsa modulator needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired at that time. The contact later received notification that her vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v500000 (electrical) and took the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The dealer installed and updated the yaw rate sensor under the recall but did not perform the calibration. The vsa warning light continued to illuminate and the dealer advised the contact that the yaw rate sensor could not be calibrated with the system until the vsa modulator was replaced at her expense. The vsa modulator was not replaced. There was a second recall initiated prior to the recent recall under NHTSA campaign number: 10v098000 (service brakes, air) which involved repairs to the vsa modulator by removing any existing air in the braking system, followed by the application of sealant and caps to prevent air from entering the braking system. The contact's vehicle was not included in the recall campaign pertaining to the vsa modulator. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 60,000. Kmj.

8 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

Rpms race while van is in idle an takes off with a jump in transmission. Clanking noise metal on metal in rear brakes, downshifts at lower speeds when trying to accelerate above 35 mph, slowing to make a turn and transmission jumps feels like being rear ended, parking brake doesn't engage at times, on flat when putting into park transmission clunks and vehicle has a definite movement like something falling out or on vehicle, looses power at 65 mph no matter how much the gas pedal is floored then suddenly jumps into high speed thrusting van forward, transmission jumps severely when parked on a graded slope and make metal clanking sound. Dealer says there are no issues and this is all normal. This is a direct safety issue for me and I am worried that something might happen causing an accident. At one point some adjustments to sensors were performed but did not correct issue. Brake issue discovered and attempt was made to correct twice. Told this is normal. Also a loud electronic computer sounding like an ancient reboot of an old computer is greatly noticeable when the problems act up. Told this is normal an no problems by the dealer. I feel I am being ignored and treated like a stupid person each time I call. Service manager actually stated that his hands are tied and took to next level of district service manager who stated this is normal. I beg to differ. The district service manager did not speak with me at all. What game is Honda playing. Safety issues and performance of vehicle are being ignored. Rearview camera is acting up as well as electric door locks and sliding doors are slow to respond while closing. Worried about safety while driving.

9 Brake Sensor problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the brakes engaged without any warning and as a result, the vehicle came to a complete halt. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the yaw sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that recall NHTSA campaign number: 13v500000 (electrical system) will begin spring of next year. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 115,000. Updated 02/11/lj the vehicle was repaired. Updated 02/20/14.

10 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/02/2013

Approx 10/2/13 was driving on a road I travel frequently and was accelerating when suddenly my car lost power and slowed rapidly. I thought it was a fluke then on 10/11/13 I was driving a road I travel on daily when suddenly my car slowed by about 30 mph in just a few seconds. I put my foot on the brake and realized it was already engaged and was why I was slowing down. 10/16/13 - car went to dealer to be repaired. Dealer found source codes dtc 26-1 lateral acc sensor, and dtc 27-1 steering angle sensor but could not replicate and told me they did not know what the fix was. 10/17/13 - was driving on the same road as on 10/11 - clanging/grating sound in steering column and then brakes engaged, was accelerating slowly prior to this. Slowed down almost to a stop, then slowly accelerated again. Within a quarter of a mile it happened again (was driving slower at this time b/c I was worried it would happen again), this time the triangle w/ the exclamation point on it flickered (this is the first time it came on, all other times no lights or anything). Taking it back to dealer tomorrow but unless it happens to them was told there was nothing they could do. Repeatedly told them of the investigation but they said they don't know the fix. Thankfully no one was behind me during these occurrences but if they had there would have been an accident due to how fast the car decelerated.

11 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

I entered a highway and was accelerating to a speed of approx. 35 mph when the vehicle suddenly decelerated, as if the brakes had been slammed on, causing me to lurch forward, triggering the seat belts to tighten. I maintained steering control, removed my foot from the gas pedal, then suddenly the vehicle accelerated rapidly without my pressing on the gas pedal. This happened four times within approximately 60 seconds. I'm stating this mildly when I say the experience was terrifying. I pulled over, turned the car off, and called our mechanic who advised I slowly and safely drive the van to the shop, which wasn't too far away, or consider having it towed. I chose to drive slowly to the mechanics and the problem did not occur again. Upon diagnostic testing, our mechanic said it was a steering sensor that lost its memory and needed reset, an easy fix and that while this problem is rare, it's not unheard of, yet it shouldn't happen again. (we had recently had new tires installed prior to this event, the mechanic suspected that while the tires were being changed, the sensor's memory must have been wiped. ) the second event was this past wed. , oct. 2, the same experience as before happened again. Only on this occasion, our mechanic's diagnostic testing did not provide a code as it had before, but recognizing the complaint, they reset the sensor again. In both events, the roads were dry, clear weather, we were driving on new tires and at low speeds, having just moments before turned on the ignition and begun accelerating. We are now being told that our vehicle has two broken motor mounts. We highly suspect this is due to the sudden jerking back and forwards from this involuntary deceleration/acceleration issue; it's an expensive repair! Honda needs to recall this model and get a fix ASAP. We are thankful this hasn't caused an accident--yet. Bought this van used in 2010.

12 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/03/2013

Driving on a clear, dry day at 45-50 mph, the car self-brakes causing whiplash. Unpredictable when this will happen. This has happened 3 times in 4 years. Honda dealer replaced sensor last time about 18 months ago. This time it happened they stated they could not replicate it so they could not help me. They stated they contacted Honda and they have no record of this happening to anyone else. Ever. My children and myself could be killed.

13 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

The rear right break locked up over night and destroyed the entire breaking system on the rear wheel. The entire breaks were replaced approximately a year earlier on all 4 wheels so this incident happened on a 1 year old breaking system. Dealer said it must have been caused by a defective sensor that did not let go of the rear break and it instantaneously destroyed the rear wheel break. The grinding sound was very loud as the break did not let go and destroyed the one year old rotor. I recall reading about a recall from Honda in first quarter of 2013 (right after my incident) on other Honda vehicles and also some Odyssey overseas but not in USA. Please log my complaint and let me know of the next steps. This car has been dealer serviced at all the required checkpoints. Thank you.

14 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

The brakes operated on their own as I made a left turn and was ascending a highway ramp at 20mph. I was able to pull to the shoulder and turned off the motor. I turned it on again and drove 45 miles to my home without further incident. In February, 2012, I made a right turn ascending a highway ramp at about 25mph. The brakes operated on their own. Again, I was able to pull to the shoulder, turned off the motor and turned it on again. This time I drove it 100 miles to the place where I purchased it and left it there (it was a Saturday night). Neither the agency where I purchased it nor the Honda agency 60 miles from my home could find a problem. In April, 2012 the brakes operated on their own after making a right-hand turn. I was going 20-25mph. I pulled over, turned it off and turned it on again. Again, nothing was found to be wrong. It happened again in June, 2012 and nothing was found to be wrong. In November, 2012 it braked again. I left the motor running and called the place where I purchased it. They came and drove it to their shop (it tried to brake 5 times during the 10 mile drive but did not succeed). A steering angle sensor was replaced per the codes. March, 2013, 250 miles from home it did it again. I pulled to the shoulder, turned it off and turned it on again and drove 250 miles home. Honda refuses to acknowledge a problem because there isn't a "history", but pilots and acuras had a recall in March, 2013 for this same problem. It is a definite safety issue. Do I have to be killed before Honda acknowledges this problem?.

15 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/16/2011

I was traveling along a windy road when my Honda van started to brake all by itself. It continued to do this over the next 30 minutes. I called my dealership. They said it probably had to do with me braking frequently on the windy roads. About 2 months later, I was traveling in town, going about 40 miles per hour, when it happened again. My foot was on the accelerator, I was going about 35-40 mph and the car started braking all by itself. It was 2012 when it happened again. I took it into the dealership where they said they had to reset a sensor that had to do with the vehicle stability system. It has not happened since then, but honestly, I think about it constantly, wondering if it'll happen again. I felt extremely lucky that I was not on the freeway.

16 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 45 mph the brakes engaged automatically until the vehicle stopped, although she was applying pressure to the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the vehicles stability assist sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The remedy failed to repaired the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred thirteen times. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle stability assist and anti-lock brake system sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, a report was filed and assigned to a regional officer to investigate. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 49,246.

17 Brake Sensor problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/28/2002

On Sunday, April 28 this year, our van went into a weird shuddering dance as I got onto the saw mill on-ramp from I-287 east of the tappan zee. The car had apparently slipped slightly but instead of the traction control and abs systems kicking in, there was a failure of all the critical safety components required to bring the car to a safe halt. The car stopped because I had the presence of mind to keep my foot on the brakes (the regular hydraulic brakes). The dealer, curry Honda in yorktown, said that the right rear sensor had failed and replaced it since the car was under warranty. I have written Honda two times. In response to the first letter I received a call from them and they asked me what I wanted. I asked them to extend my warranty by another three years, replace my front bumper, and to do a complete safety inspection. There responses to my complaints were cold. I would like to register my complaint in the hope that along with other people who have had similar near catastrophic failures in their vans we can get Honda to do the right thing. I will send you copies of my letters to Honda when I send in the signature card.
