I was driving on the street about 15 miles per hour when the car sensor sensed something in front of my car and stopped automatically when there was nothing in front of me. Almost caused a rear-end accident, luckily, the car behind was able to stop.

The vehicle was in reverse and started to accelerate uncontrollably in reverse. The car came to a stop after hitting a wall and a car. The uncontrolled acceleration happened when we went about 1 foot onto grass while in reverse. The emissions light was going on and off from time to time. We believe it was inspected by a Honda dealership at some point. The vehicle is involved with insurance at this point.
On April 13, 2026, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealership in chicago, IL for a dealer-initiated recall service. The dealer contacted me and asked me to come in. Before the recall service, the vehicle had zero warning lights, zero error codes, and was operating completely normally. Immediately after the recall service was completed, the following warning lights appeared on the dashboard: brake system warning, hill start assist problem, vsa (vehicle stability assist) warning, and additional stability/steering system warnings. None of these warnings existed before the service. I returned to the dealership the same day. The service team cleared all error codes. However, within minutes of driving off the lot, all warning lights reappeared. This confirms the issue is persistent and not a one-time post-update self-check. I returned a second time. The service manager stated the warnings were not caused by the recall service and refused to investigate further. The dealer quoted $800 for diagnostic work. I also contacted american Honda by phone and was told they could not intervene. With the brake system and vsa warnings active, the anti-lock braking system and vehicle stability control may not be functioning properly. This puts me and other drivers at risk, especially in emergency braking situations and on slippery roads. This pattern of multiple safety warnings appearing immediately after recall service on 2019 Honda Odysseys has been reported by other owners. The vehicle and its warning lights are available for inspection upon request.
When driving the ac will turn down by itself and when coming to a complete stop the car will put itself in park and the engine will shut off completely. The brake light and engine and battery light will come and the car will restart itself and stay in park or I will sometimes have to restart the car myself. The brake light started to flash on 4/16/2026. I purchased the car on 12/18/2025 to finance . The vehicle will slow down and jerk back and forth when driving at a normal speed .

While driving on a clear road, with or without heavy traffic, the collision mitigation warning shows up on the dashboard display. Sometimes the warning for the collision system goes off and the system tries to brake and jerk the wheel. If I have the wheel firmly I can correct it and it resolves. It can happen on a clear road with no one around or in heavy traffic. Yesterday it happened in a single lane with barriers on both sides, a road around logan airport in boston, with no vehicles ahead of me. The car tried to steer me into the barrier. I was doing less than 25 mph. The warning had been going off for a while but now that the steering and braking are involved it’s much more serious. I reported it to the dealer. They said they did a system check and couldn’t find a fault. The braking and steering problem first occurred about a month ago. The warning by itself has been happening intermittently for over a year. This happens even when the collision mitigation system is turned off. This is a terribly unsafe issue. If my wife had been driving I don’t know if she could have corrected. Please act and issue a recall!.

My car has started breaking randomly without reason. Just a few days ago it slammed on the brakes. I was driving on the interstate and went around a bend, and my car slammed on the breaks. I. Talking from 70- 5mph in seconds. I didn't have time to do anything. Nothing in front of me, nothing on the side. The car behind me had to swerve into the median to avoid hitting me. My car almost caused an accident. Im honestly afraid to drive it. Im not sure if the radar system is an issue in other Hondas, but if I was in an accident it would have been my fault. If the person behind me wasn't paying attention my children could have been seriously injured or worse. Please look into this issue. Its more dangerous than the other recalls.
Multiple safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey elite have simultaneously failed, including lkas, acc, collision mitigation braking system, auto high-beam headlights, and other driver-assist features. The dashboard displays warnings for nearly every safety-related system, and the vehicle disables these features without warning. **detailed description of the problem:** whenever I start my vehicle, multiple error messages are displayed related to the lane keeping assist system (lkas), adaptive cruise control (acc), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), road departure mitigation, auto headlights, and other safety features. These warnings appear together and persist even after restarting the vehicle. Apparently, this issue is widespread among 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey owners, with many reporting the same cluster of system failures. The problem appears to be related to a malfunction in the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors/ cameras, or control modules. In my case, the failures occur without any external damage, weather event, or driver action that would explain the sudden loss of safety functionality. When these systems fail, the vehicle disables critical safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automatic headlights. This creates a significant safety risk, especially at highway speeds or in low?visibility conditions. **frequency:** the issue occurs whenever the vehicle is started, affecting my driving everyday.
What happened? while driving my 2025 Honda Odyssey, the engine failed to restart during an auto idle stop event at a 4-way stop/intersection. When releasing the brake to take my right-of-way, the engine stalled completely. The vehicle became immobilized, the power steering went heavy/stiff, and the brake pedal became difficult to depress. I had to manually cycle the ignition by shifting to "park" and pressing the "start" button multiple times to regain power while traffic was waiting. This has occurred twice. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? the auto idle stop (ais) system and the starter/charging system. A service technician recently documented a "slow crank" during routine maintenance, suggesting the battery is unable to handle the restart load. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the vehicle stalled during a right-of-way transition (green light/4-way stop). This created an immediate risk. The loss of power steering and the stiffened brake pedal could have made the vehicle nearly impossible to maneuver manually on an incline during the failure. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? a dealership technician confirmed a "slow crank" symptom during a multi-point inspection, though they could not reproduce an issue. The battery tested good. Were there any warning lamps or symptoms before failure? yes. A "slow crank" was noted by a technician when attempting to start my vehicle to check my vehicle mileage. During the stall itself, a red exclamation point warning appeared on the dashboard.
Receiving acc, lane keep assist, front collision , auto high beam errors on the instrument screen. None of the safety features work. Cruise control does not work.

Multiple system problems constantly on my dashboard. Has brand new spark plugs and battery and problem is still there.
Multiple warning lights, all for the safety system: acc, automatic emergency braking, etc. I am told by the dealer that this is due to a faulty forward camera. Looking at the NHTSA site and other forums, this is a very common issue and should be addressed.
The vehicle experiences abnormal vibration and shaking felt from the rear during braking at moderate to highway speeds. The condition does not occur during steady driving and is isolated to braking events. An authorized dealership inspected the vehicle and documented rear brake rotor thickness variation but no repair was performed. The issue has continued and raises concerns about braking stability and safety, especially at higher speeds.
On December 31 at approximately 300 p. M. , our 2015 Honda Odyssey experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power while traveling eastbound on the sam houston parkway south just after crossing the buffalo bayou toll bridge at highway speed. While driving normally, the check abs warning light illuminated. Immediately afterward, multiple dashboard warning lights began flashing and the engine abruptly shut down with no warning. The vehicle lost all ability to accelerate and became disabled in active traffic lanes. Steering and braking were severely affected due to the sudden loss of power. Hazard lights were activated while the driver attempted to move the vehicle from the middle lane to the shoulder. We narrowly avoided a collision and were able to stop near the pine avenue on-ramp. Once stopped, the vehicle completely shut off and would not restart. All vehicle systems appeared inoperative except for the hazard lights, indicating a possible electrical system failure. Emergency services were required due to the dangerous location. The vehicle was occupied by five people, including three children. The sudden loss of motive power at highway speed created an extreme safety hazard and could have resulted in serious injury or fatality.

I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) a bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) the brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) the radio did not work and gave an "error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. I am surprised they passed it. [xxx] this vehicle is still for sale. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On November 12, I was on the highway in the right lane, there was a car about 4 car lengths ahead of me in my lane and the car in the middle lane was quite a distance ahead. Just as I got in the middle lane, boom! the vehicle's cmbs malfunctioned and slammed on the brakes - no warning, visual or audible, just came to an abrupt stop. Thank goodness no one was behind me or I would have been dead. It was an instant whiplash effect as well and then as I was then merging back into the right lane to exit the highway, it did it again! there were no cars anywhere near me as I had slowed down due to the trauma from the first braking malfunction and all the cars were quite a distance ahead and thank goodness there were no cars behind me. Then on November 25, the same thing happened again. Driving down the highway, no cars near and boom! I am brought to an abrupt stop in the middle of the highway! the cmbs malfunctioned again in the middle of the highway. I took it to the dealer and conveniently there were no codes so they said there was nothing they could do. Someone needs to do something about this! to answer your questions 1) cmbs system is malfunctioning and has been for quite some time on Honda vehicles 2) if there would have been a vehicle behind me, I most likely would have been killed. If my dogs would have been in the van, they would have been injured. It gave me whiplash 3) I took it in and they did nothing until I complained, then they kept it a second day and drove it and said it didn't do it. But they weren't even going to do anything until I pushed the issue. This is a known issue with Honda as I found out after it happened to me. 4) the dealer 5) absolutely no warnings before it happened.
I came to a stop at a stop sign. Then "auto off" shut off the engine. Next, the vehicle went into park. A message came on screen telling me to press the brake and the start button. Doing so had no effect. Cars behind me started honking. After repeatedly stabbing the start button and opening and closing my driver's door, the vehicle eventually rebooted, and the engine started as normal. This caused a dangerous situation where other cars went into opposing traffic to get around me.
The multipurpose camera failed showing lot of error codes. This affects the braking system putting my family and kids in risk. Honda is asking 2000$ to fix the camera.
I have had multiple issues with the radio (16000 miles). After many personal videos dealership was able to fix one of this issues with a new part (22000 miles). I was informed the other issues I was having with the radio was due to my battery not staying fully charged. I was also having issues with the van not starting right away, which made me feel I could get stranded. It took many attempts to get the van to start. The van also wouldn't let me reverse one time, with a message telling me to place van in park. Another issue is the van is very slow to restart from auto idle shut off. The transmission is slow to change gears in lower gears and the van jerks a little bit. Next my rotors were warped. I was informed by the dealership that there was nothing wrong with my transmission and the auto idle down was working properly. No one could explain the rotors being warped. They reshaped my rotors and replaced the battery and told me they hoped that fixed the problem. Well indeed it did not fix the problem. As of 12/27/25 the van completely shut off at a stop sign and again on 12/28/25. The issue is only getting worse (24,000 miles) and now I am scared to death that the van will stop while I am driving. The dealership has been contacted and I am waiting on a call back for a loaner car. I was in traffic and was extremely worried about my safety, as well, the safety of others around me and with me. ( side note I returned the van to another dealership soon after the first dealership performed work on the van, when I heard a metal on metal sound and what sounded like a bolt rolling around in my back brakes. They did not find anything wrong but were also puzzled by the rotors already being warped. I was afraid to make the trip to the orig dealership). I have recently gotten a video of the brakes scraping again. This van is causing a lot of safety issues for my family.

Today I was driving thru a green light and my car started breaking and jerking in the middle of the intersection. I was not following closely behind another car. Sometimes if I am going around a curve and a car is approaching me on the curve my car will suddenly break and jerk. My kids are very scared to ride with me due to the inconsistences with my acceleration and jerking out of nowhere.
Observed repeatedly while operating at highway/interstate cruising speed, with adaptive cruise engaged: any changes in road texture - concrete to blacktop, between different types of blacktop or concrete, separation joints, etc - such as when crossing a bridge, crossing state lines, entering open-road toll plazas, etc - results in a sharp lifting of the throttle and at times will also automatically engage the brakes. This results in rapidly and unexpectedly cutting speed by 10-15 mph before automatically resuming set speed 1-2 seconds later. This has resulted in trailing vehicles to think I am brake-checking them or otherwise caused them to abruptly brake or swerve out from behind me. It also can cause driver and occupants in the Odyssey to lurch forward and back unexpectedly - which has had a residual affect of unintended input on the steering wheel, cascading into unintended direction change and amplifying vehicle instability issues already introduced by the sudden speed change. There are multiple other owners of 2018+ Odysseys on the forum [xxx] which have reported similar situations. I have tried to encourage them to register their observations here. I believe this issue poses a significant risk to the operator and occupants, as well as surrounding motorists. Rental/fleet vehicles with drivers who are otherwise unfamiliar with the issue would be at exceptional risk. I have experienced this issue numerous times as I live near & frequent highways and interstates with these types of road conditions nearby. The windshield monocular camera failed, disabling all safety precautions.
I have a Honda Odyssey 2016 with low mileage, which I purchased almost 2 years ago. This has happened twice. While driving in traffic, I approached a stop light and applied my brakes. When I applied the brakes, the engine accelerated at the same time propelling the car forward. I pressed on the brakes as hard as I could to keep the car from hitting the car in front of me. The second time this happened, I was able to turn off the ignition and then restart it. This is a very dangerous situation because it is extremely difficult to control the car and keep it from moving ahead. I used all of my strength to push against the brake to keep the car from moving ahead. There are other instances of this identified online if you search for it. There needs to be a recall or a way to fix this problem. I took the car to the Honda dealer on October 8, 2025. He kept it for four days and examined it thoroughly but could not find anything wrong with the car and could not get it to replicate this behavior. I never know when the surging forward might happen.

I was involved in an accident with with my family. Pregnant wife and daughter. I got into a front end collision and I was at fault. The forward collision warning didn’t activate, neither did the automatic emergency braking. This system has never failed on me and car has always stopped every time. .
Vehicle has all time on the brake system, front collision, auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist abd road departure warnings. Sometimes the vehicle turns off suddenly when stop, and the steering wheel gets hard when parking.
The automatic braking system beeped alert then applied brakes when I was going around a sharp curve, with cars behind me. Luckily they were far enough behind that they didn't hit me. This has been happening since I first got my Odyssey. I asked the Honda dealer about it if it was a defect and they said no that's how it work. I asked if I could turn it off permanently and they said no - I had to turn if off each time I turned on the car. Which I do most times but I forgot yesterday. I started turning it off regularly when it slammed on the brakes going around a curve some time ago bringing me to almost complete stop with car behind me. I probably should have reported earlier. I was in the car with a friend yesterday when it happened and she has a different model Honda and says it happens to her as well. I also am in a Odyssey facebook forum and someone with a 23 Odyssey is experiencing it - I thought perhaps it was my year and they'd work out the kinks but it does not appear so. I was willing to give Honda a little grace on these early safety systems, but this looks to be an ongoing problem which is unacceptable. I'm going to look into a dashcam to record these incicdents. I asked the dealer because surely they would be able to see a log of when they automatic braking engaged? if not, they should.
I am reporting a recurring and dangerous brake system failure in my 2010 Honda Odyssey. Intermittently, when the vehicle is first started, the brake pedal becomes completely stiff and cannot be depressed at all. During these events, the brakes are effectively non-functional until the condition resolves, creating a serious safety hazard. This issue occurs without warning and has happened on multiple occasions. This defect is especially dangerous because it prevents normal braking operation at startup, increasing the risk of a collision if the vehicle is moved or if immediate braking is required. I have attempted to repair this issue extensively. The vehicle has been inspected by three separate repair facilities, including a Honda dealership. The following components have been replaced in an effort to resolve the problem: •master cylinder •brake booster •rotors •brake lines •abs system despite these repairs, the issue persists unchanged. I have spent over $2,500 attempting to fix what appears to be a systemic defect. The Honda dealership suggested the issue may be caused by air entering the brake lines when the vehicle is parked on a slope. However, this explanation is not consistent with normal automotive function, and similar vehicles do not exhibit this behavior under the same conditions. Given the repeated failure of major brake system components to resolve the issue, I believe this represents a defect in the vehicle’s braking system that could affect other vehicles of the same model. I am submitting this complaint due to the serious safety risk posed by intermittent loss of braking function and request that this issue be investigated.

Normal speed of 25mph on a clear warm day with no road obstructions when the brake system indicator (red) illuminated. I pressed on the brake and had severe resistance and was barely able to stop the car. Two more indicators illuminated. One I believe was the vehicle stability assist and the other I don't recall. The screen flashed "call your dealer". The owners manual states "have your vehicle repaired immediately. " the vehicle was hauled to southeast Honda. Codes uo416-680416-f8, u0418-68, u3000-49i. The brake booster was replaced. I am concerned that an in-experienced driver traveling at interstate speeds might have a fatal issue.
While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicles emergency avoidance system activated and applied the brakes very heavily. We were nearly hit by a vehicle behind us, which nearly caused multiple accidents. There was nothing in front of us, and the road was CO. Pletely clear in front of us.
The powertrain jumps sometimes it is not smooth. The brakes does not hold too good.
My car unexpectedly did a phantom brake at high 60+ mph with no car in front of me. I was so nervous due to car behind me almost colliding into me.
My car have never in an any accident but my distance radar sensor not working. And it’s very risky to drive under this condition and it’s very big safety for me and my life so help me to fix this issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the abs warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that several unknown warning lights were also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed camera system. The contact was informed that the camera system needed to be replaced, and the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,395.
Collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) my 2019 Honda Odyssey slammed on the brakes while traveling 70+ mph on a clear freeway. There was no warning and nothing in the road. I have also had issues with the braking warning light flashing for no reason while traveling down the roadway. I called the Honda dealership and inquired about the braking issues and was told unfortunately it can happen, especially if I drive on windy roads.
