1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/04/2021

The screen on my vehicle goes black and shows "network communication lost" at random. The speakers start making a crackling and static sound at random as well. The system will reboot over and over. You cannot use the rearview backup camera during this rebooting and turning the vehicle on and off does not make it start working again.

2 Carrier/rack problem of the 2020 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

While driving on interstates and local roads, the onboard "infotainment" system continually emits loud popping, crackling sound (sounds like things hitting windshield), resulting in distraction and confusion while driving. Various components of the infotainment system randomly go out, causing system reboots while driving and creating distraction. Navigation system is also sometimes affected, failing to provide turn guidance or give accurate location. Rear "cabin view" freezes intermittently, displaying only still image rather than view of rear seats. Fm radio randomly cuts out, displaying "no audio connection for fm".

3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2020 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/09/2020

I purchased an Odyssey and within less than 2 weeks, the infotainment system started displaying problems. The system gives a loud, crackling noise over the speakers. Sometimes the audio connection will cut out with varying error messages. Other times the entire screen will go black/turn off for several minutes, completing disabling the backup camera and other functions. When the audio goes out it will also hang up/disable any goes going over android auto or bluetooth. The audio display screen for android auto will sometimes freeze. I've already had my vehicle in the shop twice for this problem within a month and a week of owning the car and there's been no resolution yet. I've seen that there's a class action lawsuit for this exact problem in the 2018 and 2019 models, which apparently did not get rectified for 2020. The problem occurs randomly and sporadically, but does occur almost every single time I drive the car at some point or another. It's extremely distracting and not safe.

4 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Honda Odyssey

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

While I was driving this morning, on a side city street, and took a speed bump, the electrical system cut out entirely. I lost power to my speedometer and my entire infotainment system. When I stopped the car, got out, then got back in, the speedometer came back, but the infotainment system continued to be out. The infotainment system has been a problem since about day 30 of owning the car. It will cut out, say check tuner, the speakers crackle. Originally this was attributed to the auto on/off feature, but now the whole system shuts down.

Crackling noise from front windshield or dash area most frequent when the vehicle is moving but can sometimes be heard after coming to a stop.

7 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/23/2019

My wife and kids were at the store. The driver rear door opened just fine and closed. She came out put the kids in the car. She tried to close the door it popped right off the track. Worst part is it was severe thunder storms so family was stranded until my brother could get there. This is unacceptable! thankful she wasn't driving.

8 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/21/2019

On June 21, 2019 my family was returning home from the beach (pcb), and about 3 hours into the trip on us 431 north, around 1 pm we heard a loud boom or pop on the roof. Sound like a shot gun according to wife. We pulled over and sunroof had 16 inch seem crack across the sunroof. One side of cracked glass was raised about 1/4 inch. We continued to drive 25 mph on shoulder as we where in nowhere, alabama. About 3 or 4 minutes later we stopped and 1 x 4" glass hole in sunroof. We continued driving and within minutes the hole became a 1 ft x 2 ft hole in sunroof. Had to have it towed. We passed no cars or overpass's when sunroof exploded for no reason. No houses or businesses within 5 miles according to seale police officer.

9 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

The infotainment system started shutting down and crackling started in the speakers when the car was 3 weeks old. The bluetooth option and apple car play are completely unusable due to the crackling. They stop working approximately 30 seconds into use. No sound. The entire system will shut down randomly, stating no network communication and radio unavailable beforehand. The dealership has refused to replace any parts, including the radio harnesses, which are the main suspects for the crackling. Crackling sound worsens during turns.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/07/2019

Pivot bolt on the auto-tensioner broke twice. The first time the pivot bolt broke was after I had the alternator replaced and I was driving down the highway to take children to school in subzero winter conditions. I barely made it home as my van was running only on the battery. If I had stalled along the road, me and my children were at risk of hypothermia or possibly death due to frigid -40 cold weather. I then had a new tensioner pulley bracket installed and after driving down the highway and the pivot bolt broke off completely again. This is very dangerous condition that can cause serious harm or death due to defective pivot bolt. .

11 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

The passengers side sliding door will not close all the way. It stays slightly cracked open and can still drive and does not give the warning beeps anymore after this has been an issue for a month. The dash light that says the door is open still does show that it's open.

12 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/05/2018

While stationary in a parking lot, while opening the passenger side sliding door the entire door jumped out of the channel, almost falling on top of myself and others and damaging the side of the car and rendering the door useless. The bearings for the door appear to be factory originals and are made of a cheap plastic that has broken. This appears to be dangerous and common for odyssees. I have never had a car ever have a door jump out of a track like this and I have had astro vans since the 1980s, and still currently own a 2002 that has never had such an issue. Sliding doors should not be able to spring out of tracks this way or use such easily broken, unreliable parts.

13 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/23/2018

The paint on my back hatch of my van is cracking and peeling off. We bought this vehicle 2 years ago certified pre-own from a Honda dealership. It has roughly 50k miles on it. I do not believe the paint should be chipping like this.

14 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/21/2018

Passenger side sliding door jumped track and broke off during normal operations. Vehicle was parked, and passengers had exited.

15 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

The automatic sliding door came off the track and fell off while attempting to open the door. The car was parked and was being opened automatically when it became dislodged from the car's track. I spoke with a mechanic and this seems to be a common problem with the 2008 Honda Odyssey.

16 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/24/2017

The two automatic electronic side doors were grinding and having a hard time closing. When closing or opening, the doors would bounce/skip and return to the starting position. Today the driver side door just fell off the track and was hanging by a thin cable. This also caused some body damage.

17 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/26/2017

This van has been a frustrating nightmare. Besides the pax system tire issues, we have had to fix both sliding doors because they fell off. Last summer the door wouldn't close, then it fell off the track while I was out shopping with my kids. My husband came with some tools and helped to get it closed so we could take it to the auto shop. It was an expensive fix not to mention the damage to the exterior. Yesterday while I was at the library with four of my children ( 8,6,3, and a baby) the other door came off the track. This time, my husband was not around to come help us ( he is deployed serving in afghanistan). We had to get the van towed, and the door stayed open all night because the shop was closed. While there, one of the men working said he is having the same problem with his Odyssey. Looking online I see this is a common issue because a piece was made with nylon ( to reduce noise) when it should have been made with steel. There is obviously something wrong with the hardware on this. Honda needs to fix these, instead of leaving the burden to rest on the consumers who purchased these pieces of junk. What a frustrating situation!.

18 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/22/2017

I stopped behind a car waiting to merge from a parking lot to highway 193. The car ahead pulled out a little. Then apparently changing his mind, he backed up into me. I had not pulled forward, but he still totaled my car. Surprisingly, my airbags did not inflate. The collision bent my hood, cracked the grill, broke the bumper.

19 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

I was parked in our level driveway, while the car was running, and got out of the car after making sure it was in park. Shut the door, and the car rolled down the driveway over a small hill and hit the railroad tracks in front of out house. No one was injured. The parking mechanism on this vehicle did not operate effectively, the shifter said it was in park, and the car jumped into gear.

20 Carrier/rack problem of the 1995 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

We turned on the ignition to warm the engine a bit at about 9:50 on the morning of Sunday, August 6, 2015. After a couple of minutes, the passenger-side airbag completely exploded. The car was not in motion, it was parked, so there was no reason for the airbag to deploy. We suppose that it must be defective. The sheer force of the airbag deployment resulted in a large, circular crack on the windshield, with smaller hairline fractures. Fragments of black plastic were propelled throughout the interior of the vehicle. A strong smell of burning plastic ensued and filled the interior of the car. We will not drive the vehicle until it has been properly inspected, as we fear that the driver's side airbag might also be defective. Unfortunately, the Honda dealership our insurance company directed us to will not be open until Tuesday, September 8 due to the labor day holiday. This was a very frightening situation. Thankfully, we were not driving at the time of the incident, and so nobody suffered personal injury - but this airbag malfunction might well have caused wounds from the flying materials and shards of plastic, an automobile accident - perhaps with multiple people involved - or severe injury, possibly even death. Though we feel grateful to have avoided the worst, we are still without a vehicle due to a mechanical defect not caused by us.

21 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

While driving down the freeway in houston, TX on a hot summer day the sunroof exploded outward. It made a loud crack followed by several smaller cracks. The glass shattered into little pieces. Fortunately the sunscreen cover was closed or we would have suffered faces full of shattered glass, there is no evidence of any other damage to the car such as a brick being thrown at it.

22 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

Both side doors stopped functioning. They would not close. After 30-40 minutes I forced them closed. Honda told me this was a common problem as the rollers were cracked on both doors. I feel this is a safety issue since my children were in the back seats.

23 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/15/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the lift rear gate latch became inoperable and the gate would not remain open. The symbol on the driver's side front air bag leaked water whenever it would rain. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified, who advised that there were no recalls for the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 3/19/13 the dealer informed the consumer the roof rack was loose and let in water, which leaked out of the driver side curtain air bag.

24 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/24/2012

Motor mounts were cracked. I was forced to replace them after I was told by the dealer that this wasn't a recall issue. This causes an extreme vibration which effects the handling of the car and passenger comfort.

25 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

When the car is about 45-50 mph the engine shutters. It feels like I'm driving over railroad tracks. The car also shutters when the eco light comes on. I've been told that the torque converter is failing and that it is a known failure in this model and year. Honda needs to do a recall on this because this is a defective transmission.

26 Carrier/rack problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/01/2002

Consumer stated the rotors started to warp at 12,000 the rotors were never replaced only cut down to reduce warpage, consumer stated when the rotors are cut it would only shorten the life of the rotors, also the rear hatch spoiler was replaced due to it being cracked. Ts.

27 Carrier/rack problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/15/2001

Honda motor CO. (Honda) sold me and equipment with a new vehicle, that if used as such, will damage the vehicle and will constitute hazard to others driving on the road. Honda sold Odyssey - ex minivan along with a standard package that contained a roof rack / carrier among other peripherals. I tried using the roof rack / carrier as provided with the vehicle on August 15, 2001, the load that I caried on the roof slipped and almost fell off the vehicle inspiste of my best effort in tying the load on the set of twin racks provided with the vehicle. Fortunately, due to the soft underneath of the load the vehicle roof was not damaged due to the load sliding off the roof. I contacted Honda to find out how best to use the carrier rack proivded with the vehicle. Honda representative verbally informed me that the roof carrier / rack as originally provided with the Honda Odyssey - ex minivan can not be used, but Honda refuses to do anything about it. Basically, my complain is that Honda sold me an equipement with the new vehicle that if used as such will damage the vehicle, the load will most likely fall of the vehicle resulting in hazardous conditions for other driving on the road.

The roof rack crossbars sold by Honda for this vehicle are not acceptable for use with cargo boxes. This is what many people attach to them. There is no warning on the installation instructions or owners manual warning against use for this purpose. Honda admitted the crossbars might not withstand lift forces from the box and the crossbars could separate from the side rails and damage the vehicle or vehicles following it. Honda said they would offer no remedy, warning or solutions. Some of the major cargo box manufacturers are aware of the crossbars shortcomings and will not warrant their boxes or accept liability for damages caused by the separation of the crossbars, however, this is not always divulged by the salepersons and would most likely not be known if buying a used box. Please make Honda send a waring to all purchasers of the crossbars and include the warning in their owners manuals ,advertising litereature and installation/use instructions. Thank you. Albert s. Guzicki.
