Failure Date: 05/14/2015

I placed the van in park and left it running at the top of a driveway walked about 40-60ft and about 3 minutes later it comes rolling down the driveway and hits the corner of house and me. Bounces back 23 feet and stops. Gear shift is still in park and car is running. Air bag inflates and alarm goes off. Turned off engine and removed key.

38 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/23/2014

I was driving 2002 Honda Odyssey ex-l on the freeway. It was a stop and go traffic, vehicle in front of me stopped at certain point and I couldn't stop quick enough. To my surprise the air bag never deployed which caused a whiplash, bruise on the right side of upper body and also my left knee bump in to the dashboard.

39 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/28/2014

I was driving my 2 year old Honda Odyssey w/15,000 miles on a 35 mph state road in the evening. All of a sudden the van lost complete power, everything inside went black, brakes went, no lights in or outside working, and the steering got very stiff, making it difficult to steer the van off the road. My 5 young children were in the vehicle as well. (ages 14, 6, 4, 2, & 5 months). Thankfully no vehicles were on the road in front of me or stopped bc I would have hurt them badly. I just missed getting rear ended by 3 other vehicles as well. Thankfully we weren't traveling the busy interstate that evening, or this could have easily been fatal for my whole family and possibly others as well. Previous to this (approx. 3 months or so) I had made complaints to the dealership about a popping noise in the steering column, when a sharp turn was made and was told that it was "normal". I also have a constant vibration in the steering wheel, brake and gas pedal, which Honda balanced the tires and re surfaced the roaders. For a vehicle which almost cost me $36,000 & 2 years old with low miles, shouldn't be having these issues. The issue with the complete loss of power needs to be diagnosed and correctly fixed, or taken off the road before it causes someone to be severely injured or killed!!!! fix it correctly or I want the vehicle replaced or my money back to buy a safer vehicle. . . . Not we're unsure of what the issue is or think we fixed it. I don't need my family or any others killed.

40 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/13/2014

I went out to unlock my van and it wouldn't unlock. Thought the battery in key fob was dead. Found out that the delay wiper setting, rear wiper, high beam lights, turning signals. Door locks, washer fluid, outside temp display, warning lights, like the seat belt and the one that tells you that you left your keys in the egnition, are not working. Have checked all fuses. Need help please.

43 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

I was driving to school, and the transmission was acting funny. I drove it approximately 30 miles to our dealership. Luckily I made it. The highest speed I could go was almost 40mph. Pulled into the dealership at 8:30a. M. And waited. Was given the news that it was the transmission, and it was almost $6,000. 00 to replace. They had me. Didn't know what to do. . . And had to pick up kids at school at 3;30p. M. Ended up sinking $40,000. 00 into a new 2014 Odyssey. Boy do I feel taken! and then to find out there was a problem with Honda transmissions from 1999. I do question the transmission of the one I am driving now. . . . It shifts funny. My 2004 also always had a fuel smell. Was concerned at times of starting it. We also paid to have the dash lights fixed. . . . At our expense. Didn't know there was a recall on that either. . . . . . Darn those dealerships!!! they got us on the transmission too!!.

46 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

Rear taillights on left and right sides fill with water after rain fall. Accumulating water has lead to water flow into interior transferring caustic substances into passenger area that have burned interior carpet in rear compartment fortunately chemical burning was discovered and neutralized before major fire ensued. Dealership stated not a known issue, not covered under warranty. State inspection site will not pass vehicle safety inspection because of electrical fire danger.

Parked car in parking lot--backed into spot--put into park?--shut off engine/removed key and exited vehicle/locked door and went into store--was informed within 5 minutes car had rolled approx' 50 feet into friends pickup truck. . My left front[driver side] had smashed into right rear of truck-no damage to trk--my car actually in reverse when key removed and engine stopped.

48 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/26/2012

Without much or any warning my transmission failed (the dreaded p0730 code showed up on the scanner) on my 2003 Honda Odyssey ex-l van with only 100,325 miles. The van was never abused or used to tow. Transmission was rebuilt 1. 30. 12 by private shop continental transmission for $1800. (torque converter blown to pieces). Honda does have limited recalls on trannys but mine was not included (only if 2nd shaft is broken & scored and burnt/ bluish color) this will documented tranny problem with 2nd generation Odyssey is very upsetting and I blame it on a poor design by Honda engineers (under sized tranny paired with a power v6 240hp heavy 4500lbs van has been a recipe for premature failure). The worst part was on 1. 5. 12 I just had extensive preventative maintenance done at don davis Honda (timing belt, water pump, tensioner and power steering belts) and two weeks later the transmission fails!!! other issues with the van have been, ac compressor failed may 2010 88,648 miles. Rear wiper motor failed March 2011 89,240 miles, both sliding power door rollers had to replaced. Brake switch failed (locked up), Dec 2011 98,750 miles van would not move out of park. Not real happy or confident with Honda right now!.

49 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/28/2011

About 2 years ago, the window actuator failed on the passenger side, I paid to repair this. Over the last 6 months, another 4 actuators have failed. One of them is the lock actuator on passenger side, second is the lock actuator on left sliding door, another is the window actuator on driver side and the actuator for driver side door lock. The problems of this magnitude are a serious safety issue as the window actuator on driver side suddenly failed while driving and was scary as the window just fell into the door. The other actuators failing with locks and doors can be a serious problems, especially with children in the vehicle where the window or door suddenly opens or closes. This seems to be an electrical component problem that need to be addressed by a national recall.

50 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/20/2011

Transmission not shifting right, lock out, car not moving. Van cannot go in reverse. Before it happened notice that when turning left, indoor lighting flickers especially obvious at night time driving. At stop it hesitate and when stepping at accelerator, the van jerks and jumps to high speed causing me to brake right away, felt a whiplash every time. Check recall ended after seven years but owner did nor receive any letter from Honda office about the recall. Try to contact Honda but told me recall ended.

51 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

Since taking delivery of my 2011 Honda Odyssey it has had a faulty battery sensor, this is a known issue that is not being addressed. The sensor falsely reports that the battery is low and disables some of the onboard equipment including interior lights and pathway lights leaving car in the dark.

52 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/23/2010

The top bracket holding the alternator to the engine block failed again for the third time while my wife was driving the van. As a result of the failure of the top bracket, the stress on the main serpentine belt caused the bolt holding the alternator in place to snap off at the engine block. This caused the alternator to become loose and caused a burning smell to come into the cabin of the vehicle. The alternator loose and un-attached poses a potential catastrophic failure with the pully system and the power steering which may cause an accident. I reported the previous incident of the same problem on October 25th, 2010. My concern is that this is a recurring problem that Honda is aware of and not correcting with a recall and addition of a re engineered and strengthened top alternator bracket. I am also very concerned that failure of this part/system while my wife and children are driving the van will cause an accident and injury or death to my family. I have called Honda and their solution or recommendation is to replace the part and use proper torque specifications. This has not worked 2 times so far and my mechanic tried to weld and additional piece of metal to the oem bracket to make the bracket stronger, and this did not work.

53 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/12/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph, and when pressure was applied to the brakes there was an extremely slow response. The rear brakes were replaced twice by an independent mechanic. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id 10v504000 (service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder). The contact stated that the VIN was included and the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. In addition, the battery was defective, and the rear license plate light failed to function. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer previously for the failures. The failure mileage was 30,000.
