37 Seats problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

1. 2nd row driver and passenger seats do not "lock" into place when folded forward, creating a "free flying" seat when driving/in motion and an entrapment issue when parked for 3rd row passengers attempting to exit the 3rd row. This is specially dangerous on a hill. My 3 year old has been hit and injured by the seat on a several occasions. 2. Engine lurches and stalls while in motion. Stalling causes potential risk for accident. 3. Driver and passenger sliding door will not open on occasion. This means getting 2nd and 3rd row passengers out of trunk or climbing through to driver/passenger seat. All of these have been brought to the attention of the dealership, they cannot reproduce 1 and 3. Had no solution for #2 (a simple locking addition to the seat footing would fix #2, Toyota sienna's lock on place).

Nhtsa recall number17v-725 has been open since November, 17 2017 with no resolution. That is pretty unacceptable and now I receive another letter for a 2nd recall NHTSA recall number18v-170 dated Mar 13, 2018. Is this ever going to be fixed? my children ride back there.

41 Seats problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/29/2018

After the third row has been folded flat and you are bringing it back out to make it a seat again, it often will not latch without the assistance of a second person to help guide the seat into the proper place. This generally happens with the 2 seat section and not the single seat section (since they fold 60/40). If you don't realize the seat did not latch, then it can easily roll back and try to fold flat while the car is in motion or should someone try to climb over it. This has been happening for quite a while, but when I saw that a child died because of it, I wanted to report it.

42 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

Re recall 17v-725 - you and american Honda sent a letter in April 2018 stating the fix was ready and should only take (approximately) 30 minutes. We contacted gerald jones Honda in evans, GA and made an appointment, at which time we were told to expect more like 1. 5-2 hours. We then called american Honda at (888) 234-2138 to complain that we were quoted 2 hours for a 30-minute fix. American said that a case manager looked at my question, contacted gerald jones and was told it would be more like 1-1. 5 hours so american would not tell local gerald jones to do it faster or to make a loaner vehicle available; american Honda basically said they don't have to oversee the effectiveness of service by independent local dealers in accomplishing the recall you both said should take only 30 minutes. We arrived to appointment early and had ticket submitted even before appointment time. My wife and kid then just sat in waiting room for 1. 5 hours with nobody giving any updates until someone asked if everyone was ok to which my wife responded that she wanted an updated on our van. 15 minutes later, that person still hadn't returned with an update so my wife went out to service area to get her own update. It's finally done as of almost 2 hours after appointment time, but needs some final paperwork. She is then escorted 1/2 way to van and shown where it is. She arrives at van with kid in tow only to learn for the first time that the two child car seats have been removed and left in the trunk. Nobody gave a heads up. Nobody offered to give her assistance to get the car seat installed while also wrangling the toddler. So, in sum, is it appropriate for gerald jones Honda in evans, GA to make a recall customer sit around waiting for more than 2 hours before finally driving off for a recall that NHTSA and american Honda represented in their April 2018 letter should only take 30 minutes? no.

43 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/12/2018

There was an recall, recall number 17v-725, but the dealer or manufacturer clearly didn't mention when they will ask us to get the vehicle into the local dealer for repair. We didn't even receive any phone call from local dealer asking us to come in and get the vehicle repaired.

44 Seats problem of the 2013 Honda Odyssey

2nd seat flipped over a kid seated on the right middle row passenger seat while car was driving/in motion. This has been ongoing and this is the 2nd time this has happened. The kid became trapped, folded at the waist in a seated position until we were able to pull over the van to reset the seat.

47 Seats problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/22/2018

Recalls number 17v-725 and 18v-170 appear to be serious safety issues for passengers in the 2nd row seats, and there does not appear to be a manufacturer solution. For the 17v-725 recall, it has been outstanding for over a year without a solution offered by the manufacturer. Why is this taking so long and why hasn't nhsta not taken stronger action to compel Honda to fix the problem? this is why you exist, to keep consumers safe before a safety incident occurs. Please address this with Honda to fix the problem.

48 Seats problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

The second row seat behind the passenger side does not lock at times while vehicle is in motion. It would slide back and forth. I would have to park the car when on the road and try to lock the seat to prevent it from sliding again on the city street before getting onto the highway. The same seat don't lock forward at all when people from the third row seat is trying to get out. The seat would slide, and a few kids including my mother had already gotten injured from trying to get out from the third row seat of the passenger side. This happened when the car is not in motion, and people are trying to get out through the second row seat of the passenger side. My toddler's carseat is on the second row seat of the driver's side, so people are not able to get out through that particular side, and I feel that my toddler would be safer strapped onto a seat that actually locks in place. We noticed the issue after a week or two after the purchase of the new vehicle.

49 Seats problem of the 2011 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/13/2018

I accelerated when light turned green and my drivers seat topped completely back off the base. Seat bottom and back remained together. 2 "torx" bolts were later found on floor by dealer under the seat. No one injured as no one was sitting behind driver and my son was in passenger seat and able to help me tip back forward to where I could grab steering wheel to hang on to in order to reach our destination. We were in motion on a county road. Going straight. Van had been rear ended a year prior so after Honda dealer looked at it we talked to them about trying to go through insurance as it was rocking after accident and they tightened it. They talked to Honda because I said I wanted new bolts. Honda said they did not sell separately just whole seat. The body shop said these bolts had no signs of ever having thread lock applied to them. They applied thread lock and put them back in the seat. I researched online found nothing like this happening both Honda dealer and body shop said they had never seen anything like it. In a worse situation myself or my children could have been killed when I lost control of the wheel. Performance kings Honda and gerber collision in blue ash ohio assisted me. I am still afraid it will happen again.

50 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda Odyssey

52 Seats problem of the 2017 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/02/2018

In November 2017 Honda announced a recall with their Odyssey vans regarding a safety defect with the second row outer seat. I especially took note of this recall because I have a child car seat attached to it. I called my local dealership asking about it. The dealership told me the replacement parts were out of stock and to wait for Honda to contact me. In December 2017, I received a written letter from Honda telling me about the recall and putting the responsibility on the owner to bring it into a local dealership to have the seat fixed. I brought in my Odyssey in February 2018 to have it maintenance and ask about the recall. The service center addressed all the issues I paid for except for the recall issue. The agent printed out a booklet for me to read and said I can fix it myself. I told him about the Honda recall noticed I received and he said they do not have the replacement part in stock. I told him that my friend owned the same van and it was recently fixed at another service center. The agent said I had to contact Honda or wait for Honda to contact me directly because it wasn't my "turn" yet. Recently, I received another recall notice from Honda in April 2018 telling me about the recall. It doesn't seem like Honda's dealerships are equipped to fix the safety issue and they're sending out these notices only to protect themselves. The notice referred me to your website for complaints. My complaint is that I reached out to a Honda service center twice and they refused to fix the recall issue.

53 Seats problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

This is the 2nd recall I've had on my car within a year all having to do with the 2nd row seats not latching properly. The lady on the phone just told me that if I brake too hard the seat could possibly come unlatched. I have a child and you're telling me that Honda isn't doing anything except waiting for parts to come in and not selling their new vans until these parts come in. I don't feel that is enough. How can Honda allow people who own these vehicles to still be driving them until they have fixed the problem. If I brake hard and the seat comes unlatched from the floor board, which is what the lady told me, that is super unsafe and Honda should be doing more about this problem, even worse if someone is to run into you or rear-end you. The child or adult, whomever, will probably die if the seat unlatches from the floorboard. And better yet, they don't even have the parts in to fix the problem.

55 Seats problem of the 2015 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

Honda recall NHTSA recall number: 17v-725 dear sir/madam, my Honda 2015 Odyssey is in the recall scope, the Honda recall s0g was announced at Nov. 17, 2017. It is still on incomplete and no more actions about remedy. I did call Honda to ask the schedule, they responded me that there is no valid solution and schedule according their internal communication. I am disappointed and worried on this recall since my children seat the 2nd row seats everyday. May I know if there is time constraint to Honda to close the recall with actions? I really want to get an explicit solution and schedule from Honda to solve the potential risk.

Honda has been aware of this issue for months and yet had failed to correct the seats from latching improperly. 61 Seats problem of the 2015 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/25/2017

The driver's side middle row seat's seat back of our 2015 Honda Odyssey will not lock into place. No one can sit in that seat because the seat back either reclines back or folds forward. When unoccupied and the car is in motion, it will adjust on its own at times (you hear the clicking/grinding). Upon discovering this issue in late December 2017, we immediately stopped using the seat (despite the tremendous inconvenience this caused to transporting our family of 6) and contacted Honda corporate (case number 06564580) and were advised that the seat back issue was not part of the two other recalls involving the Odyssey's middle row seats and to take our vehicle to the dealer. We removed the seat from the vehicle until we were able to get it inspected given our concern for middle and third row passenger safety. On January 15, 2018, the dealer inspected the seat and found that the seat back adjustment mechanism was broken. When I asked how this happened, the service rep could not identify the cause definitively, but he speculated perhaps someone forced it to recline or "someone had a bad day at the factory. " I find the former cause suspect. Regardless, I question why a seat back in a motor vehicle would not be designed to withstand forces associated with normal passenger use given the potential for significant forces that could occur in the unfortunate event of a high speed motor vehicle collison. Ultimately, I was advised by the dealer that I would need a new seat back frame - 81726-tk8-a22 -- 530. 00 - to render the existing seat functional again. See attached invoice and photos.

62 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

Seat in the second row behind the driver side, tipped forward after a stop. My 4 y/o was in his car seat at the time. Exited a garage, turned right onto the local street, stopped at the light on the corner. My son, while still in his car seat, tilted forward onto the back of my driver side seat. It was a traumatic experience. There wasn't enough pressure and that must be why the seat belt didn't lock. Glad I wasn't on the highway.

64 Seats problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/30/2017

November 2017 news reports described a safety recall of certain model years of Honda Odyssey van second row seating. This was due to seats not being secure in sudden stop or impact. Since that time, now 4 months, several dealership claim no knowledge of when the recall repairs will be honored and refer callers to Honda America. Honda America refers all calls to dealers and states this is "not really a safety issue" but a matter of operator error. I would submit that if the seat latch system can be installed/operated improperly then it is in fact a safety related design defect which a corporation the size of Honda could have repaired by now, if they were not denying the problem! can dot enforce an existing federal recall?.
