4 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

While driving on the highway at about 65mph , the passenger side sliding door glass window shattered. There were no vehicle on that side of the van. The incident occurred in the houston area approx 5-6 miles after starting to drive from a covered parking garage . The outside temperature was around 90 deg f. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealer for inspection. The local Honda rep refused to entertain the request as a manufacturing defect. A case n012012-08-230-0553 was opened with american Honda customer care and I was promised that a rep would call me by end of day Friday . However, no one called. There are several incidents reported like this on the internet , not just for the van but for other Honda vehicles as well. Also , a recall has recently been issued for 2800 2011 Honda Odyssey vans for a similar problem with front driver and passenger windows. The ignorance on the part of Honda to acknowledge this problem concerns me because any of my family members sitting in that seat would have been gravely hurt . 11 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/04/2005

We bought Honda 2005 Odyssey last June. On oct 4, we were involved in an accident. I was going 40 mph when someone in a Ford f250 pulled out right in front of me with the speed of 15 mph (according to the police report). The Ford truck crashed into the left front side of the van. Only the two front air bags deployed. My 2-year-old boy was sitting right behind the driver' seat. He was buckled in a 5-point car seat. His side sliding door's window (tinted) shattered and the broken glass flew into his face with force. His face was covered in blood at once. At the er, the doctor had to use x-ray and dug out chunks of glasses out of his face. He got 30 plus stitches and will need to have plastic surgeries later due to flesh loss and big cuts on the left-side of his face. If the window didn't shatter and fly with force, my boy should have been unhurt in this accident. As a family vehicle, Odyssey should have shatter-proof windows. We believe this is a major defect and would like to start an investigation on this issue. We are looking forward to hear from you. We still have the van at the repair shop untouched. The van is going to be totaled. If you need to have a look at the van, we will be happy to do so. I have contacted the sales person whom we bought the van from, but he never called me back on this issue.

12 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/29/2005

We purchased a 2001 Honda Odyssey from garcia Honda and still own the vehicle, he VIN is 2hkrl18641h568656. Several months ago my wife was driving the van home with my daughter in the 2nd row seating. She was in the process of making a left turn from academy road (in albuquerque), onto ventura (north) when suddenly the front passenger side window imploded into a pile of glass, all over the car. My wife thought the window had been shot out or otherwise maliciously destroyed from some external source, and immediately called the police fortunately no one was seated in the passenger seat. We filed a police report about the incident and had the window replaced via allstate insurance. No projectiles were found in the vehicle, and we just had the window replaced and went about our business. At night on leaving our son?s birthday party at hinkle family fun center, and merging onto I-40 west at juan tabo (merging onto the freeway), the drivers side front window imploded (by itself) into another pile of glass, nearly causing an accident and shooting glass all over my wife (driving) and the inside of the car (which had three other children in it at the time), causing some small cuts on her arms, and ruining the clothes she was wearing. This is way too big of a CO-incidence for both of these passenger windows to just self destruct by themselves on the same vehicle. I would expect and hope Honda would pay for this repair, and investigate the block of vans and the glass that were manufactured with the same run of glass and window assemblies, before one explodes in a vehicle that does cause an accident or serious injury.

13 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/04/2004

I had my car park at work. At 4:30 when I was leaving work I walked to my car opened the drivers door. I closed the door and heard a window shatter and it blow out of the car for no apparent reason. The window that shattered was the passanger sided sliding door. I call the dealer and they said that glass was not covered under the warrenty by Honda. I called Honda and they said that the dealer should have looked at it to determine if it was a defect. It sounds like they are playing the blame game. I had the university police write up an incident report and have pictures of the window right after it happened. I am having to replace the window tomorrow 5-6-04 and will cost approx $359. 00.

The truck was parked inside a parking lot without physical contact with another vehicle. The right passenger side window shattered. Police came for the investigation. There were no injuries. The dealer is aware of the problem.

15 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/20/2002

While backing from driveway our rear windshield shattered (with popping sound). Car had been in shaded area with air conditioning on full before I put van in reverse gear. The time was approximately 1 pm on hot sunny day. When new windshield was installed it was discovered the wiper motor assembly near base of wiper shaft was cracked. On a Honda odessey van the rear window wiper shaft is installed through hole in windshield and the motor assembly was housed inside liftgate.

Problems with steering on 2000 Honda Odyssey. There was a vibration in the steering when going 65 mph along with brake pulsation (rear brake drums were tapered and the shoes did not apply properly), rims were out of round, the vehicle pulled to the right, driver's window squeaked when going down, brakes squeaked, one tire was found bad when the vibration in the steering wheel occurred and was replaced. Eventually all the tires were replaced but the vibration still occurred.
