1 Wiper problem of the 2023 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/27/2025

I was driving about 15 mph in my neighborhood when my passenger side mirror exploded and flew onto my passenger side door/window. It hit so hard that it left a scratch on the window and on the paint.

2 Wiper problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/03/2025

For the second time in less than 4 months my rear window has exploded into thousands of pieces. The broken bits explode everywhere. First time was 1. 15. 25. Second time was 5. 3. 25. I was parked both times. I had other windows/doors either cracked or open. Both times was during 20mph winds.

3 Wiper problem of the 2024 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

While driving on a highway in California we heard a bang above our heads followed by a cracking sound. I knew immediately that the sunroof exploded based on reading posts about it in a facebook Odyssey owners group. Fortunately the interior slider/shade was closed and no glass fell on us. There was nothing above us to fall on the roof. There were no cars on front of us to kick up road debris, nor did we see anything airborne. The road was flat and smooth. The temperature was in the low seventies and had not changed in the previous hour. There is no discernable reason the glass would just shatter. We used duct tape to attempt to hold the glass together to 1) keep it out of the passenger compartment 2) weatherseal the car as precipitation was forecasted. We proceeded on our trip and stopped in flagstaff, az. It was disturbing to find out that we had to purchase the glass from a Honda dealer and have it installed by a commercial auto glass business as the dealer doesn't do glass installation. It is ridiculous that I lost a day of travel to a problem that has been around for over a decade with NHTSA reports and a class action lawsuit about the poor quality of Honda sunroofs.

4 Wiper problem of the 2015 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/30/2025

Back hatchback glass spontaneously shattered. Nobody was in the vehicle and it was in the garage. So- nobody was hurt; however, this may not have been the case had we been riding down the highway. From my research this is not the first time this has happened with this model vehicle. I plan to contact Honda today, if that is possible. I have pictures that show it could not have been hit by an object. It obviously was under pressure and caved from the sides.

5 Wiper problem of the 2023 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/06/2025

While driving approximately 50 mph, vehicle sunroof glass spontaneously exploded spraying shards of glass in the vehicle. The vehicle was not driven under any bridges, and there were no vehicles within a reasonable distance ahead or behind my vehicle that could have thrown something at the sunroof causing it to break. My safety was put at risk as sharp pieces of glass were sprayed on me, into my clothing, and into the empty child safety seats in the middle row. Upon inspection, the Honda service department denies that this break happened spontaneously and the dealer states that they were able to identify a point of impact on the sunroof as to what caused the glass to break. A photo of said impact has been requested from the service department, but as of this writing has not yet been received. There were not any previous known damages to the sunroof, and there were no warning signs prior to the glass shattering.

6 Wiper problem of the 2023 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/28/2025

Sitting still at intersection of florida avenue by us post office back window just shattered. No object found inside car. No indication it was hit by anything. Just spontaneously shattered.

7 Wiper problem of the 2023 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/20/2025

The temperature in the mid-atlantic has been below freezing for several weeks. Additional all of the roads have been treated for ice. My vehicle’s wiper fluid system will not work in these below freezing temperatures. As a result I have not been able to see out of our windshield that is dirty from the road treatments. We are having to clean the windshield with baby wipes. As soon as the temperature gets into the 40s and 50s, only once in the past few weeks, the wiper fluid system works again.

8 Wiper problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

The night before christmas eve, I was commuting home from the neighboring city, which is about a 25 minute drive home from where I was currently located. It was late in the evening and 2 of my children were in the car with me. I live in a rural area that is extremely dark in most of the areas. As I'm driving along both of my low beams go out without warning. This made for a very dangerous situation. I reacted as quickly as I could to prevent an accident and tried my high beams. Fortunately, they turned on but unfortunately I had to drive the rest of the way home with my high beams on possibly blinding any driver that came in contact with me. Currently the low beams still are not working. I have read forum, after forum, after forum stating how this is a problem from a 2004 to at least a 2010 Odyssey before I discontinued reading any further. I'm not exactly sure what causes but I do know it's not caused by the spark plus, the light bulbs and there is no individual relay for this vehicle low beams independently.

9 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/02/2024

The mirror in the casing for the drivers side mirror shakes a lot, even at low speeds, to the point where I can’t use it reliably.

10 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

Rear backup camera stopped working. Currently there is an active recall for 2018 Odysseys on all trim levels VIN specific but somehow our VIN number isn’t covered under the recall. I followed service bulletin 20-060 and it fixed the problem.

11 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

Recall for driver side view mirror completed. However the replacement mirror is distorted and causes blurred, wavy, double images. This replacement mirror needs to be addressed as soon as possible since proper representation of objects is distorted and poses a high safety concern. This issue has been reported in several forums as well.

12 Wiper problem of the 2009 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/08/2023

Windshield wipers and also the key fob and the sliding doors as well as the blinkers do not work all at the same time first time it’s ever happened. It was December 8, 2023 and now it happened again in January 29 of 2024 and the issue still persisted when I look this issue up this has been an ongoing issue for many years and yet Honda has done nothing about this and it’s not just the 2009 it’s other years as well as other Hondas from other years as well, it is a defect within the company where they’re doing something that causes these things to go! it is a safety issue as this just happens out of nowhere without any warning while I’m driving. All of a sudden it just happened the first time and I didn’t even realize it until I didn’t hear the clicking and someone said hey your blinkers are not working. Also, the second time it happened happened all over again while I was driving out of nowhere would not work and it was raining as well and I couldn’t see anything and my lights wouldn’t work so it’s definitely a safety issue .

13 Wiper problem of the 2023 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

The vehicle makes a whistling sound form the front of the vehicle, while on a road trip the windshield got foggy and the defroster was not able to clear the windshield due to what I believe is an air leak from the windshield, that’s also causing the whistling.

14 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/26/2023

Rear view mirror on the windshield has a factory defect. It falls off and causes hazardous conditions. I backed into a parked and unoccupied vehicle. It was dark, the warning beeper did not sound until I hit the vehicle. The dealership has attempted to fix the issue 3 times, the item is ordered to fix the mirror. I have reported this issue to the nhsta twice. This is my second update after the initial report. The sales manager, bobby, (cell#336-740-4273), says that he is aware that other Honda vehicles have had this problem with the mirror.

15 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/23/2023

After 4 attempts by the dealership to correct the issue, the windshield inside view mirror malfunctions when adjusted. The mirror dislocated and falls off and cannot be adjusted per driver viewing needs. There is a defective assembly and it inhibits driver view causing hazardous conditions that could cause accidents.

16 Wiper problem of the 2020 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/04/2023

I had a recall on my 2020 Honda Odyssey VIN # 5fnrl6h74lb012726 for NHTSA recall # 23v-431. The recall was for rear camera failure. The fix was to replace most cable harness. In early October 2023 my rear view camera did fail and no longer conformed to federal motor vehicle safety standard no 111, “rear visibility” I took my Honda Odyssey to serra brighton Honda for repair , serra brighton Honda replaced the cable and it did not fix the problem. I was told it was the camera which was not part of the recall and was charged $302. 42 for replacement of the camera, invoice # 341002. It only seems logical to me that if “rear visibility” is a federal motor vehicle safety standard , the camera should have been included as part of the fix. It could have been possible that the cable shorted out and damaged the camera’s electronics. My Honda only has 21,500 miles and is always stored in a garage and has never been in an accident.

17 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/13/2023

The interior rear view mirror falls off. Dealership is not fixing the problem after 4 visits. This creates a safety issue because the driver cannot view traffic that is behind the vehicle while driving in traffic.

18 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

Completed a safety recall on Odyssey for a driver side mirror replacement and the mirror Honda provided and installed creates distorted images. It is nearly impossible to focus on traffic and safely change lanes. While driving in chicago this weekend the mirror made it nearly impossible to merge with traffic or safely observe traffic entering on left side entrance ramps. Honda replaces the mirror a second time and the second mirror is also defective.

19 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

The mirror has become detached on the drivers side. The same issue that has been reported as a recall for 2020-2022 Honda Odyssey. My vehicle is 2019 and has the same issue. It is not bonded properly. It is a safety hazard. The dealership said I need to pay to have it replaced. However it should be that my car is included in the recall.

20 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/23/2023

While driving multiple system failure- warning lights then failure blind spot alert, lane departure, back up camera, wipers, tailgate function. When able to stop, power locks did not function. Inability to access rear of car via sliding doors would pose serious risk if accident occurred due to system failure. Prior to all systems alert, tailgate warning light had been intermittently appearing for a few days. Dealer service center noted water leak from unsealed section between window and frame in back driver side panel that corroded body console module.

21 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

On February 1, 2023, I broke the side view mirror off the passenger side door while backing into my parents driveway (the mirror hit a bush on the side of their house). Called Honda dealership and ordered (and paid for) replacement part on Feb 2, 2023 - was told the part should be in within a few weeks. By approximately February 20th, the part was still not in, and the dealer had no eta. So I opened an inquiry with Honda. On/around February 27th, I was told by my customer service rep nikki that my part was upgraded to critical backorder, but that there was still no eta. However, I was #6 in the queue to receive the part. Case number is 13648719. Called Honda multiple times over the next few weeks, eventually being told on/around March 5th, that the part was 'released' to the dealership on March 3. On March 14th, I called the dealership and demanded my money back on the part, until it arrived. Dealership agreed. Honda never was able to determine what happened with the part, because as I was told 'there's a global parts shortage, and it's the suppliers responsibility for the part, not Honda's'. In late March, was told that Honda would follow up via email weekly on part updates. I have received 3 emails so far from Honda simply stating that the part was still on backorder, and there is no eta. All the while, my wife has been driving around with a duct taped on mirror, not angled in the best position for viewing. This is not an old vehicle, getting a part should not take 3+ months.

22 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/04/2023

The drivers side door mirror glass initially vibrated so it was impossible to see behind the vehicle. The glass fell out several times. After being repaired under warranty, the replacement glass that they put in now falls out.

24 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/17/2022

Both the drive side view mirror and passenger side view mirror vibrate/shake while driving over a even small bumps and uneven pavement/road. I have noticed this since the vehicle was over 1000 miles. Took it in multiple times to dealership to replace the mirrors. They don’t take any action and state vibration is normal, unlike any other vehicles which doesn’t vibrate on such surfaces. This is a safety issue as the driver has to spend more time to check the mirrors for vehicles in blind spots. Now, vehicle has about 4500 miles. I have made 4 visits to dealership already including 3 visits to richfield bloomington Honda in richfield, minnesota: still no resolution. I have opened case with Honda America three weeks ago. They have been unsuccessful in getting responses from dealership.

25 Wiper problem of the 2011 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/19/2022

Rear glass/windshield exploded spontaneously while vehicle was parked securely in the closed garage of a private home. The once gray rear glass of the vehicle was now shattered and black. After the explosion a crackling sound was observed emanating from the shattered glass that remained attached along the periphery of the rear window opening.

26 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/13/2022

Driver's side outdoor mirror is defective - a) on irregular payment ("not smooth") at any speed, this mirror vibrates and loses its vertical and horizontal position. Needs constant re-adjustment with power controls while driving or after vehicle is parked. Or both. B) at freeway speeds 45mph+ on smooth roads, it vibrates excessively and rapidly loses its viewing angle. C) at night on the freeway, mirror is unusable because of severe vibration with headlights in view. According to local Honda dealer's service department (Honda of thousand oaks, CA) this is a "known problem" and no repair or replacement is available since even replacement mirrors distributed by Honda have the same problem. Also, going back at least 2-3 years, all Honda vehicles with 6-cylinder engines have the same issue - Odysseys, passports, pilots, ridgelines, etc. Only the driver side mirror - the outside passenger mirror does not have these issues. I contacted american Honda corporate at the ceo level (see attached docs) and they eventually referred me to their customer car representative, "jocelyn" - she informed me that Honda engineering has no knowledge of this issue and therefore there's no service bulletin or "fix" under consideration. She said my only course of action is to have my local Honda dealer resolve the issue. Per the enclosed doc, I am in contact with the service manager at Honda thousand oaks, mr. Max picado, to arrange a visit so I can document their official response.

27 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Automatic rain sensing wipers equipped with elite models does not function properly hindering visibility in rain/snow. It functions irradicably, wiping too fast when there is very little rain or conversely, not wiping enough when there's a downpour. Adjusting sensitivity levels knob did not affect anything. Local dealer service departments have refused to troubleshoot. This has been ongoing since vehicle was purchased new.

28 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/20/2021

The touring and elite trim levels on the Honda Odyssey have 'rain sensing' wipers, as well as a low, high, and one-wipe function. The rain sensing function cannot be disabled, and takes the place of any intermittent feature. The rain sensing is always on and not disableable, unlike other vehicles that allow the operator to choose whether or not to use the feature, or simply set intermittent wipe speed manually. Honda's rain sensing function simply does not work, making the wipers go full speed in light mist or not work at all in heavy rain. Due to the fact the rain sensing function cannot be disabled, operators are either stuck with wipers off or on continual speed. This is both distracting as operators either must manually flick the wiper stalk for a one-wipe function in light rain every few seconds, or run the wipers continually, causing streaking and difficult visibility in lighter rain or snow events. This problem is well-documented on Odyssey and civic forums, and I have purchased and replaced the rain sensor with no change in system performance. It's shocking Honda cannot allow a user to simply disable the feature via a software menu like almost every other manufacturer.

29 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/29/2021

Sunroof shattered at highway speed without warning. No previous cracks in the window. All windows were rolled up an closed, conditions were dry, there was no immediate debris that caused the issue.

30 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/20/2021

Both driver and passenger side rear-view mirror glass separated from base within 3 months of ownership. Glass is held to plastic base with adhesive. Similar to complaint from MD already submitted.

31 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/12/2021

The Odyssey elite has "rain sensing" wipers with no ability to disable them. The rain sensor fails to accurately assess water on the windshield, making the van's wiper choices either "off" or "low" or "high". I researched other Odyssey forum posts, and this issue is extremely common. This is a safety issue for two reasons. First, driver distraction trying to operate a non-functional system. Second, in light mist or rain as the "low" setting is too fast and smears and streaks, while "off" doesn't remove water. Other vehicles with rain-sensing wipers contain a disable feature in the software, allowing manual override for intermittent speeds. Honda offers no such bypass.

32 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/11/2021

The drivers side side-view mirror was vibrating for serval days making it impossible to see correctly and was very distracting. While waiting for a new one to come in, I was driving on the highway it came off and smashed into the door. It was still hanging by the wire and smashing into the door over and over till I could get it to the dealer. The dealer said they've have multiple customers with this same problem. When it happened I was very lucky no one was near me on the highway because I was so startled by the crash that I was swerving. Then I had to drive to the dealer without a working sideview mirror. Additionally, the entire door had to be repainted and the window replaced because they were damaged by the mirror.

33 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/06/2021

The driver’s side rear-view mirror glass started to vibrate two weeks ago. While driving at freeway speed, I noticed the mirror glass tilt/drop down and it looks as if it had come detached from the mirror body itself. I pulled over and was able to “click” the mirror glass back in, but it has vibrated again a few times since. I’m concerned that the glass will detach while on the road.

34 Wiper problem of the 2017 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/23/2021

While the original owner of the vehicle was driving on a side road at approximately 40 mph with a child in the rear seat, there was an abnormal noise. Upon investigation, the sunroof was found shattered with glass on top of the sun shade and a hole in the glass. Photos are attached showing the sunroof bulging upwards (indicating that it may have burst outwards?). Upon inquiry, the local dealership where this vehicle was purchased new identified that Honda does not have an active recall, nor do they support glass breakage. Secondary extended warranty was also inquired as to covering this repair without success.

35 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/15/2021

I received a recall notice (NHTSA recall number 20v-439) for the back-up camera on my 2018 Honda Odyssey by mail in September 2020. I have repeatedly contacted the local dealer to have the repair made (3 times in the last 4 months) and have been told each time that the necessary parts for the repair are on "back order" and are unavailable. Therefore the local dealer (understandably) will not schedule a repair appointment. I also contacted american Honda's customer service department, who told me that they also have no additional information about the part's availability and that I should continue to work with the local dealership. If parts are not available to make the needed repairs, why is a recall notice even issued?.
