3 Body problem of the 2022 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 02/18/2024

In February of 2024 my 2022 Honda Passport wouldn't let me reverse out of my sloped driveway. I realized the emergency brake must be frozen and sure enough as soon as it hit 33f I was able to release the brake and drive the vehicle. I figured just a little water got into the cable in the rear. In January of 2025 I found myself with the same problem with another frozen brake. I took it into the Honda dealership and after a week they found out there was a leak in the body seam that let water under the driver's seat and froze the emergency brake cables. According to the mechanic, this was either the result of a major collision or a defect. Since the vehicle hasn't been in a collision, this is a concerning defect that Honda has so far refused to cover, including the damage to the soaked carpet. Both times, I had driven for 3-8 hours in pouring rain on the highway. Unacceptable for a 2- year old vehicle to have this issue.

The passenger rear door latch will it operate from the inside, thus making it a safety hazard in case of emergency. 5 Body problem of the 2023 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 06/30/2023

Electrical malfunction along w/braking systems. Electrical malfunction, caused braking failure. Collision avoided by driver. Call not switched over due to being connected w/electrical circuit in braking system. This occurred within 30 days of buying vehicle. Emergency brake, & braking, not working causing vehicle to role backwards while parked in flat garage. Tailgate not closing properly. Causing loud noises and banging sound while driving. Driver has read manual & confirmed that it is not closing correctly. It would not let me close through any method in car manual. All of these things are connected electronically & or through the electrical system. The computer system that controls the electrical panel of braking, navigation, calls, radio, etc, & recall says braking system assembled incorrectly, causing electronics failure throughout vehicle & communications systems. Less than 30 days after purchase, want lemon law in effect. Recall was not disclosed to me prior to purchase! extremely dangerous! I purchased this 6/6/23, with approximately 1-10 miles on it.

7 Body problem of the 1999 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 08/27/2021

My frame was rusted throughout at 130k miles the car's rear trail arm mount on the frame detached and almost caused me to run into on by traffic numerous times at 25 mph. Only once I stopped to pick up my sons from school the car's rear trail arm detached completely from the frame, I had deemed it undrivable and called for someone to come by and tow it back home. On my own further inspection, I noticed an absurd amount of rust in the rear left side, and holes in the frame. As well as I said the rear trail arm detached from the frame.

8 Body problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 06/23/2020

I have has consistent problems with the braking system. It will brake and/or show the warning when nothing is there. The jerking of this has caused me to get in an accident June 2020 while moving to a new duty station. It was raining and there were no other cars on this highway thankfully. It was scary and I was even going below the speed limit. This caused my car to become nearly uncontrollable. My children and I were fortunately unharmed, but pretty shaken up. I had everything repaired and the same thing still happens to this day. That was only about 3 months after I purchased my car. I hear a lot of rattling as if something has come undone inside. Many times when I am driving I can feel the car jerk to a certain side or forward. That issue almost caused another accident in Feb 2021. I was backing out of a parking spot with plenty of room between myself and the other cars. My braking warning came on and it stopped my car. Then immediately it jerked back aggressively and almost hit a car behind me. Soon after I managed to back out and shift into drive, it jerked forward while stopping then jerking again. Although it is not all of the time, it has happened enough to cause accidents and almost a lot more. I think the 2019 Honda Passport should be looked into more and corrected. As these issues should not be happening.

12 Body problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 11/08/2019

American Honda has issued a recall of 2019 Passports due to a life threatening, unrepairable welding issue in the body of the vehicle. The prescribed remedy is a new vehicle as the issue cannot be repaired per Honda. Notice as given on 11/08/2019 but as of 11/28/2019, dealers have refused to conduct an inspection or to affirm that my vehicle does or does not have the welding error. Meanwhile, absent a replacement vehicle or an inspection, I fear for my safety and that of my family and passengers. It is cruel punishment during the holidays to have a brand new, expensive vehicle that may be unsafe.

17 Body problem of the 2001 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 06/29/2015

On June 18, 2015, while on the brake and stopping behind a vehicle at an intersection (moving at a crawl speed, less than 0. 5 mph), my Honda Passport lunged forward hitting the car in front of me. The car was contained the driver and a passenger. Believing at that time my brakes just failed (I couldn't grasp how acceleration and forward movement could occur when I was firmly on my brakes), I had my brake booster and master cylinder replaced. On June 29, 2015 in a parking space, while I was at a crawl speed (less than 0. 5 mph) and on the brakes, the vehicle lunged forward again, going to the next parking space and hitting a parked car. The vehicle engine surged as though I was on the accelerator, and my foot was only on the brake. Thank goodness nobody was in the parked vehicle, nobody was between the two vehicles, and only body damage resulted from this dangerous situation.

19 Body problem of the 1998 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

I bought a 1998 Honda Passport at the auction in salem newhampshire on December 20, 2014, the vehicle has an estimate of 87;000 miles on it, which is why I bought the car in the first place on top of the fact that the vehicle appeared to be in good condition, however to my surprise after taking my car to the mechanic, I was told that the frame to the vehicle was extremely rotted and would most likely be a hazard. I was not aware that the vehicle was on recall for frame rot issues until today December 29,2014, I tried to receive CO-operations from a Honda dealer and was told that the recall was closed and that their was nothing they can do and simply apologized. What I do not understand is why would they leave a recalled vehicle on the market, wouldn't this be a violation of the lemon law? I believe as a recent Honda Passport owner, to a vehicle that has hardly been used, judging by the miles, I should be entitled to services from Honda in regards to the recall that was "closed". Besides it was Honda's error and it is their obligation to build safe vehicles for the consumer.

22 Body problem of the 2000 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 12/06/2013

I was driving about 25 mph and someone pulled right in front of me requiring me to slam on the brakes. I heard something snap or break in the rear of the car. It was very hard to steer, the car seemed to wiggle and sway. I pulled over as soon as I could, within a half block. I looked for a flat tire, nothing seemed wrong so I tried to drive home. There was a horrible rubber scraping sound from the left rear. I got out again and saw that the tire was wedged against the wheel well. I called a wrecker and had it towed to my mechanic. As soon as he saw it the mechanic called me and said, "your car is totaled, the frame is rotted out. " so I had to have the car towed back to my home. My neighbor also owns a 2000 Honda Passport and he told me that there had been a recall for the frame, suspension for my model and year. . Read more...

23 Body problem of the 2000 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle. It is in great condition everywhere other than the rear frame. I had no idea how bad the rust was under the vehicle in the rear. I bought the SUV 1 year ago in August for $2700 with 121,000 miles. I took excellent care of it & on 10/3/13 I was making a right hand turn onto a highway which was a 55 mph speed limit. As I accelerated my front end wobbled back & forth bad and at 25 mph my SUV darted to the right shoulder of the road & I slammed on the brakes missing the guard rail. By 1 foot. I had to have it towed home due to my driver side rear tire was pinchedinto my rear bumper. My body shop guy said the rear trailing arm rusted right off the frame & esd most likely not fixable unless I want to spend over $1500 to have the frame cut out & try to find good metal to weld too if there is any. An the other side is bad too. I had no idea this could happen &I had my Passport at the Honda dealership. 6 months ago & asked the garage boss if there was any recalls the vehicle missef or if there is anything I should. Watch out for & he said no. I could have been killed if I would have been going faster. How does a 13 year old vehicle rust out that fast? Honda should be held responsible for selling unsafe vehicles.

Failure Date: 05/27/2013

I purchased a 2002 Honda Passport used, I recently heard a noise under the car and when checked part of the frame was broken. I looked online and found a recall, never notified about it. I called a dealer and waited 5 days and called them again and they set up an appointment for me. I took the vehicle in and was told that it is unsafe to drive and they will not release it to me. They said that is is not the tracking link that is the problem, it is the frame. This vehicle should be recalled for the frame rotting not just the tracking links. 32 Body problem of the 2000 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

Frame on vehicle was deemed "unrepairable" by local hoda dealership, due to recall on vehicle. After consulting legal angle found that there is a 10 year window on car makers backing their product. Ironic that the recall came out after 10 years, Honda knew of this very, very dangerous situation way before the 10 year window but did nothing. The frame on this car literally was close to completely flying off, and soon that will cause severe injury not only to owners of that model car but also others involved. Honda did nothing to try and buy out owners, they just want the vehicles off the road to eliminate their resposibilites in any lawsuit that may come from this faulty equipment.
