Check engine keeps coming on & off. . When making a left hand turn and/or engaging the left hand turn signal; this causes the horn to sound. After taking the vehicle in numerous times costing $130. 00 to run the test I am told they are not able to find anything wrong. This is very troubling as I have a toddler and this is certainly a safety concern not to mention a budget breaker as this has cost me approximately $1000. 00. I finally decided to stop taking it in as the only outcome was a little less money in my money and the failures still occurring. This as been on going since 2003 when I purchased the vehicle.

Have been experiencing knock in the valves. Have taken the truck to multiple repair facilities and it is stated as being "normal" for the Passport/rodeo vehicles. Statements have been made by other owners of that same vehicle. Isuzu/Honda say it has to do with type of gas/oil used. I have only ever used the recommended 5w30 with 87 octane. I have no where else to go. Everyone I talk to knows that it is a problem, but there is no fix or bulletin posted.
Excessive valve train noise at 84000 miles, was told this is a common problem with these vehicles however no recall or help info exists at Honda motor, similar problems reported with isuzu rodeo engines (same model), I am unsure of extent of damage or engine reliablity.

While driving my 1999 Honda Passport, the vehicle turned off and I pulled over to the side of the road. I had the vehicle towed to grand Honda in elmhurst illinois on November 10, 2003. The vehicle remained at the dealer for several weeks and then was told that they did not know what was wrong with the vehicle but they thought the engine needed to be replaced. I asked what happened to the engine and they said they were unsure, but thought that I needed to have mine replaced. I agreed and they later told me they were not able to find a reasonably priced engine and that it would be cheaper for me to take my SUV somewhere else. I contacted Honda corporate and was told the same. Honda did not stand behind their vehicle. The Honda dealer told me to have my vehicle picked up. I arranged for a tow truck to pick up my vehicle and deliver it to my home. When the vehicle arrived at my home Honda had not even put the vehicle back together. I paid them $290 to tell me that they could not repair my vehicle. I contacted both the dealer and the corporate office and was told that the $290 was only to take the vehicle apart not put it back together. I believe that my engine is defective.

Immediately after having an oil change the vehicle registered low oil level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the discontinued engine was the cause.
While entering the main highway in rainy conditions the car died. Consumer lost power steering control, and crashed into a guardrail.
Motor mounts and drive shaft replaced, vehicle slips, drive shaft replaced 2nd time vehicle continued to slip. Yh.
If the consumer removed his foot from the accelerator, the vehicle lost power as if it would cut off. This problem was intermittent. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem .
The engine consumed an excessive amount of oil, the manufacturer stated it was normal.
The valves rattle in the engine. When they rattle I check the oil level and it's fine. I found out. . . By no other choice. . . . That if I get on the interstate (causing the rpm's to go up) for a few miles, and then exit the interstate the valves stop rattling. Everyone I talk to says that they don't know what the problem is. I have looked for Honda support everywhere! dealers can't even help! now I think I am just going to join a group that's planning a class-action lawsuit! maybe mr. Honda can fix the problem then! if not I will use the money from the lawsuit to buy a chevy. . . Or Dodge!anything but another Honda!. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis***768317.
