Well in July 2012 I was driving my Honda when I heard noise (sounded like a muffler leak) hit a small dip in the road then a pop and then loud noise coming from engine. I took it immediately to the repair shop and they said the catalytic converter had blown a hole in it self. They said they had never seen anything like it. Well here it is January 2013 and just last week the other side (my car has two converters, lucky me) did the exact same thing. This is just the weirdest thing ever and so very expensive to fix. Is this normal? I don't think so and no one can give me an explanation on why this is happening. I need some help please.

After a year of owning this vehicle, started stalling out even while driving (automatic trans). Check engine light came on, and was told by dealer that the manifold gasket needs to be replaced. Wants over $600 to do so. I can't afford it yet, so I'm dealing with the stalling until I can pay to have it fixed, but I'm wary of it because I've researched the problem and found the defect is repetitive in this vehicle.
Car has trouble starting. Takes several attempts to start. Trouble began in February of 2004. Took car to Nissan dealer where purchased in March of 2003 because of dealer service contract. Replaced oxygen sensors in March of 2004. Engine light returned on restart. Replaced battery in may of 2004 after car would not start and customer left stranded, engine light returned again. Took to auto zone to find service code. Pulled manufacture code p1170. Honda service of gilbert told me that it was a manifold gasket defect and would not be covered. Customer reminded service rep that it should be under the epa mandated 8 year/80,000 mile major emission control system warranty. Told I would need to pay $85. 00 to get complete diagnostic report. Service rep agreed that it may be covered. Nissan dealer service rep advised that the last manifold job took over a week to repair. Customer cannot get vehicle licensed until repairs are made. Tags were up in June of 2004. Please help! there must be a bulletin that applies ie, mfg bulletin # 00010 date 20020528. The obdii showed p1171. I know the runaround these manufacturers give and I am not willing to pay anymore $ and will seek legal recourse if not resolved in the next 7 days.

Abs system pump was continuously running with keys removed from ignition. Pump was extremely hot to the touch and had to be disabled by removing the abs system fuse. Abs system failure light came on and is still on. No problems with brake system prior to this failure. Car was serviced for exhaust pipe replacement 1 day prior to abs system failure.
Fuel system problem: fuel gauge frequently has begun to drop to a reading of zero when the car is not moving but running. The reserve light will blink and the fuel gauge will not show any fuel reading until the car begins moving again. It can take several minutes before a correct reading is shown. Intake manifold system failure: date and mileage is approximated, will locate records with exact date and mileage. Both left and right side intake manifold gaskets were reported as "cracked" by the dealer and replaced at a charge of $400 (not under warranty). Engine idled roughly and stalled prior to repair. TSB from Honda is available.
Intake manifold gasket leaked causing engine to shut off while driving, especially when braking. Intake manifold gaskets were replaced by dealership.
The problem that I started having with the truck at about 10000 miles is that the vehicle continues to accelerate on its own when I release the acellerator and press the brake. The problem has persisted for quite some time despite numerous trips to the Honda dealership. In August of 99 I took the car into the Honda dealership in albany, GA and they informed me that the problem was due to an electrical problem. They said it was fixed. I took the car into the same dealership in November of 2000. They kept the car for two days and said that they identified the problem and that the problem was with some of the electrical connectors. The problem was not fixed. The vehicle is currently at the Honda dealership in newburg, NY where they have just informed me that they did not identify a problem with it. Four days ago I nearlly ran over three women who live in my housing area because the truck would not stop when I attempted to. The only way that I was able to stop the forward movement of the truck was to quickly place the truck into neutral to disengage the transmission. There is a serious problem with this vehicle and I fear for the safety of my family and others.
Customer states the vehicle is consuming a tremendous amount of oil, oil dripping from tail pipe, and on several occasions the engine would run rough and make a knocking noise, also the service engine soon light would come on, dealer removed engine and concluded that oil was traveling through the cylinder, dealer states that the cylinder is going bad.
