36 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

A few days after I got my new 2025 Honda Pilot touring, I was turning a corner and the car jerked a bit and several warning messages came up on the dash. I was able to pull the car into a parking spot and I recorded some of the warning messages (a few photos attached). The car worked fine after restarting and when I called the dealer they said that it may have been a sensor and not to worry. Then two days later, I was reversing out of a parking spot and the power steering stopped working. I was able to brake the car and drive it forward to get to a safe place, but the steering wouldn't work after trying to turn the car off and on a few times. There were also other warning messages that were flashing up on the dash. I had to get the car towed to the Honda dealership and am awaiting a report from them. The car is brand new with only 130 miles on it.

37 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster displayed a black screen, and no safety features were displayed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. In addition, the contact noticed an unusual popping sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The independent mechanic unofficially diagnosed the failure as faulty cables. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing and provided the fee for the diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall or special program. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/17/2025

My 2021 Honda Pilot se has developed a failure of the forward-facing multipurpose camera unit (mounted behind the rearview mirror). A scan with a professional tool confirmed diagnostic trouble code u3000-49 – “multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure. ” when this occurs, the vehicle immediately displays multiple warning lights at every startup: collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist (lkas), road departure mitigation (rdm), adaptive cruise control (acc), and automatic high-beam/dimming headlights. In addition, the dashboard shows a “brake system failure” message, although the brakes continue to function normally. This single camera failure disables all of Honda’s Honda sensing crash-avoidance features, leaving the driver without forward collision prevention or lane-keeping systems. The failure is persistent, and the dtc remains “current” after clearing. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealer, but because the car is out of warranty they refused to perform diagnosis or provide a repair estimate, essentially telling me it was my responsibility to resolve. This problem is widely reported by owners of Pilots, odysseys, cr-vs, accords, and passports, all showing the same u3000-49 code and symptoms. Independent shops confirm they often see these failures, and forums show repeated cases of owners paying high out-of-pocket costs, sometimes with parts on back-order. Honda has recalled less serious issues, such as rearview camera display faults, while this defect disables forward collision prevention and lane safety systems—far more critical to protection. Other automakers (Toyota, gm, Subaru) have recalled forward cameras and radar modules under similar conditions. This is a major safety defect that removes federally promoted crash-avoidance systems with no fallback. I urge NHTSA to investigate and require Honda to issue a recall at manufacturer expense, and please advise how long the process may take, as my vehicle is less safe to drive.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/17/2025

When stopped at a stop light the auto idle stop turned the car off. When we tried to go at the green light the car wouldn't move. The transmission shifted to neutral and was stuck. We couldn't put the car in park, we couldn't turn the car off, we couldn't put it in gear. We considered calling the police for help since we were stuck in an intersection. The car eventually turned off and we tried pushing all the buttons to do something it finally allowed us to turn the car 100% off and restart it. Then we could go.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

Auto start/stop issue. I finally experienced what some other members of my family have experienced with this car. My Honda Pilot stalled at a stop light in heavy traffic after the engine was turned off when I stopped at the light using the auto start/stop function. After I released the brake when the light turned green, the car did not start.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

The rear camera has suddenly changed to a rainbow effect and is very difficult to distinguish details related to be safe view it is designed to display. There was a recall related to the cable connection of the rear camera which is not related to this new color change issue. Honda dealership only offers to replace camera not under a warranty.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

At a stop light and the car shifted to neutral and lost power, had to restart car. This happened twice, once on a busy road and we were almost rear-ended. Took the car to dealership they said the only thing they could find was that it needed a new battery. Changed battery and has not happened since. They said that likely the battery did not have enough power to power the auto stop/start feature so when I stopped the car lost power. I had no indication that the battery was low and never had a car with a low battery lose power in the middle of traffic. I feel like this is bad design and a potential safety hazard.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/13/2025

The contact owns a 2025 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic signal, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The vehicle then jolted forward into gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but only occurred while stopped at a traffic signal. The contact turned off the engine start/stop feature manually. The contact stated that the vehicle was restarted after failing to respond properly. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,100.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

The lkas camera stopped working and it won’t allow any of the connected systems to operate including acc, emergency brake assist, cruise control, etc.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

Consistent electrical issues manifested with infotainment system losing connectivity including fm radio, bluetooth, etc during hot days only. Thia implies increase risk of fire due ti electrical system overheat. It appears many complaints have been made related to the electrical system on Honda Pilot year 2019.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the start/stop function activated and turned the vehicle off; however, while attempting to drive from the stop, the engine failed to restart. After waiting 5-10 minutes, the vehicle was able to restart and returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/29/2025

The fuel injection system routinely fails or misfires. Not only does this cause an issue with said system but it also triggers a host of other dashboard alerts. The alerts display all wheel drive problem, emission system problem, power steering problem, hill start problem, vehicle stability assist problem. This is a safety issue because the amount of alerts especially unrelated alerts is obfuscating any actual problems and making it difficult to diagnose the real issue. Investigation shows many other drivers having the same issues with this model only going away when the fuel injection system is replaced. It's also safety issue because if the fuel injection is failing then the car may shut off at a danger to the driver and the public. Given that it is known and chronic it should be a recall.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

My 2021 Honda Pilot se fwd would not restart after the auto off/on turned my engine off at a stop light. Of course this happened at a busy intersection causing backup and an unsafe environment to get out and inspect the vehicle. The car had to be jump started by a kind individual.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

Car intermittently won’t start due to insufficient battery charge. Jump starting will start the car. Dealership testing of battery and charging system determined no issues. However, issue reoccurs. Suspect charging doesn’t occur until battery reaches a minimum voltage level which is currently set too low. Safety issue in that car starting is unreliable.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

7/25/2025 I was driving my wife’s Pilot between 55 and 60 mph when the vehicle alerted me to several warnings and the braking system stuck at the top of the pedal not allowing the vehicle to slow in a construction zone. I was able to limp the vehicle home but the vehicle was extremely difficult to slow at red lights. The vehicle was towed from residence after sitting and the tow truck driver said the vehicle was not showing any warning signs. The dealership in paducah test drove the vehicle and did not see anything wrong with it. They subsequently checked and there was a diagnostic for brake booster failure. The vehicle has 41,000 miles on it. In addition it went to the dealership at 9,981 miles for electronic parking brake sticking and the ike dealership said there was nothing wrong. There are other reports of woners on youtube who have had this failure or similar with one member having to ditch the vehicle. I almost wrecked and hit a vehicle that slowed in front of me. The system thew error codes to include failure in electronic steering, transmission, hill descent, electronic braking, and others. I recorded the errors on the dash. This vehicle has also thrown airbag error with only a few thousand miles. The vehicle has side panels that have fallen off and and seals on the panoramic sunroof that have failed.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

When I got into the vehicle this morning, I opened the door and smoke came out from inside, then I noticed in the driver's seat there was fire from the control panel of the driver's seat. Where the fire affected the seat, the seat belt and the interior panel of the driver's door.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

My 2019 hoda Pilot touring often suddenly changed to n (neutral), not moving when I release the brake pedal on the freeway when traffic is slow (stop and go) or when at the stop at the intersession. I had to hit (shift) to d (drive) or sometimes it was getting worse, I had to hit restart button to resume driving. Many times, it was a nervous moment when the cars from behind were too close and unexpecting my car was stop. It's hard to convince the car dealer it is a real problem when I brought the car for other recall problems. They only worked on the other recalls and verbally advised just to see if the fixes on the recall would fix the problem I experienced since there is no recall related the problem I described.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

The auto idle stop caused my Pilot to not restart as I was taking my foot off the brake turning left on a busy road. I had to be towed as my car would not start. The Honda repair center said there is an engineering request ([xxx]) trying to gather information about the issue, but no fix other than having to turn off the feature every time I restart the car. I am now extremely concerned about my safety and others because if I forget to turn off this feature, my car could unexpectedly now stop working and I could immediately be put in an unsafe situation. Honda said they can’t automatically turn off the feature. They have shifted this responsibility to the driver of the car. This is not right and they don’t seem to care when I call 1-800-880-1072. All they said is it your responsibility to turn off the feature each time you get in the car rather than give me options. I asked repeatedly if I were to forget and my car won’t restart after an auto idle stop, what can I do. Could not answer other than I need to be mindful before putting the car in drive. This is so wrong, I could come up with several scenarios now my car could cause me danger and others if it stalled suddenly in a heavy traffic area. What are my option? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

54 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

Radar camera went out shutting off all safety features lkas, power steering , collision control, power breaks etc.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/22/2025

Failure occurred at highway speed. A host is warning light came on and the car lost power. Lights that came on included emissions, traction control, power steering, all wheel drive and towing (I wasn’t towing anything). No lights were on before the incident. The vehicle lost power and could not maintain any speed. I was able to roll into the breakdown lane. The vehicle was brought to a local Honda dealer who preformed the diagnosis and determined the issue to be a failure of the high pressure fuel pump. Seems this has been the source of several recalls including the 2017 Pilot but not my VIN. It seems like the recall my need to be expanded.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while at a complete stop with the start/stop feature activated, the engine shut off while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. After waiting for several minutes, the contact had to perform several procedures to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where a software update was performed; however, the failure returned weekly. Recently, the contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle after the failure, the vehicle began to jerk while accelerating, with an abnormal tapping sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with a defective engine rod bearing. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the repair could not be warranted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

All I did was simply change my battery. Up until this point the car had run perfect and no issues or warnings. Now after placing the correct agm battery the dash has lit up like christmas. I am getting acc, lkas, auto head light, forward collision and brake system warning lights. I was informed that this is a very costly repair, a camera needs to be replaced and recalibrated, $2000 estimate. This should be a recall based on the other numerous complaints I'm seeing. I reached out to Honda with no response as of yet.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/14/2025

The idle engine turn back on feature has not turned on several times. It has happened a couple of times upon turning it back on after a complete turn off in a parking lot. Also, it has happened in traffic at a stop light on busy roads where I was sitting there dead stopped in the road unable to get the car started. Another time, it did not turn back on as I was pulling out of my neighborhood and we almost got hit because of it. The battery seems to be involved and seems to have to recharge for a few minutes and then it will turn back on. I've called 911 to help me get out of the road, have taken out the battery and put it back, and had it checked at the dealership. I have to remember to use the button that turns off the idle engine turn off feature or it will happen. It doesn't have any pattern or reason to it.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/13/2025

I was driving home at around midnight on the interstate, when my radio stopped working and digital dash screen just turned off. The radio screen said something like network communication lost (I was going 75 so I couldn’t completely read what it said), and the dash where my tachometer and speed usually are, was off; the only information about the car I had was gas level and general engine temperature, so physical gauges or the fuel economy indicator were not affected. All headlights, climate, and engine or cruise control were not affected. It rebooted after about 10 seconds, as if the car was just started up, and everything was back to normal. I was coming from a work event, so I had a coworker with me and he noticed this was occurring, unsettling to be a passenger and all necessary information about the vehicle on an interstate was gone. The vehicle did have a recall to address crackle noise in the speakers, which was a symptom of the most bus failure. But since then, the crackle hasn’t disappeared, the backup camera has failed on occasion, and now this, just once in ~15000 miles, all link through the same most bus. Will be taking to the dealer again ASAP to see if they can resolve the issue for good, but it seems unacceptable that an infotainment failure could also affect the dashboard if I am understanding it.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/13/2025

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to lose automotive power, and failed to return to normal operation. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle remained at the residence. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/12/2025

I have had multiple situations where the auto idle has engaged and the vehicle has died. Most of the time the car restarts by holding down the ignition button, but twice it's required a jump. I have taken this into Honda multiple times and they've told me they can't recreate the problem, but it consistently happens to me. The most recent time was at a high speed intersection and almost resulted in a serious collision. The below question asked how many miles on my vehicle. We first noticed this at about 25000 miles, but most recently occurred today at 80000 miles.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

The auto idle stop (ais) feature on my 2021 Honda Pilot intermittently causes the engine to shut off at a stop and fail to restart. When this happens the vehicle remains completely unresponsive until I shift into park and manually restart the engine. This has happened multiple times in traffic and at intersections, creating a huge safety risk. I have already replaced the battery and had the latest software update installed at my local Honda dealership, but the issue persists. The problem is intermittent and difficult for the dealership to replicate. The auto idle stop issue is a known problem with Honda even extending a warranty coverage for the starter assembly and starter relays. The NHTSA number ea25004 addresses this yet the local dealership will only update the software and change the battery. They are failing to honor the second stage of the repair calling out specifically replacing the starter assembly, starter relays and adjusting the valves.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

On [xxx] a code p0430 appeared on the dash board screen. The car was making a strange noise coming from the engine. I took the car to integrity auto repair shop in mcallen, texas, they checked the code and said that it was the catalytic converters that were going bad. So I requested an estimate, since their estimate was too high, I contracted a private mechanic to replace the catalytic converters (2), and another part connected to the system. Also, we replaced the oxygen sensors and the noise did not go away. Then, on August 25th, 2025 I decided to take my Honda Pilot to the dealer Honda in pharr, texas for a check up and they told me that the reason the car was making so much noise and had so much reduced engine power was because the high pressure fuel pump was failing. So, I asked the service representative: if the problem is the high pressure fuel pump, why the dash board code p0430 showed up? ana, was the representative's name; she replied that the front dash camera is malfunctioning and needs to also be replaced. I asked her. . . My car just has 76,000 miles, I paid so much money for this car and you are telling me that the dash camera and the high fuel pressure pump are not good? and, I spent almost 4,000. 00 dollars replacing the wrong parts because your dash board gave me the wrong code? why is this happening? I am driving my car with my two little daughters in the car, taking them to school and back and hearing the car engine noise and wondering when is it going to leave me on the road? then I asked her; this looks like that is a problem from the manufacturer and Honda should be responsible for the repair. Imagine the dash board giving me the wrong warning code? and the car has only 76,000 miles. Then I go and spend so much money for nothing? this is not normal. I feel that Honda is responsible for the car failures. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

64 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

I believe this car was subject to the recall where something about the ais system needed to be fixed. The initial problem was the car would stall out at lights when the ais system was activated. I went in for the recall and had not experienced the problem since. That’s until the past couple days where the problem is back to occurring when I’m stopped at a light and fully depressed the brake, the car stops idling and fails to restart creating a dangerous condition in traffic. It is stressful, unneeded, and puts my family in danger.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/03/2025

Vehicle stopped at a stoplight for about two minutes. It shut itself off and would not restart wouldn’t go into neutral or do anything. There had been zero issues with this vehicle to date until this occurred. This happened in a very busy intersection my wife had to scramble to get the children out of the vehicle and up on the bank before they got rear ended by somebody. The police had the vehicle towed to our friends residence as the dealership couldn’t get it towed for several hours. The vehicle was towed from our friends residence on the morning of [xxx] the tow truck driver and my wife both tried starting the vehicle before it was towed to the dealership, it would not start. Only July 5th at Honda of turnersville , technician mike said he hopped in the vehicle and it started right up and that there were no error codes. I believe he disconnected the battery and waited for the codes to clear before starting the vehicle and driving it into the shop. Where he plugged it in and found no error codes. The dealership technician then claimed he found and old error code in the memory that showed a bad battery. They replaced the battery. The dealership technician story makes no sense. If the battery was bad, the vehicle wouldn’t have started in the parking lot , I feel like I’m getting the run around and that they didn’t diagnose the actual problem. I currently have no faith that this is a safe vehicle and am scared to drive it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

66 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Honda Pilot

67 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

We were exiting the off ramp heading north on [xxx], exit [xxx] and when we slowed to about 5 mph the car shut off completely. No electrical power and the car would not re-start. Heavy traffic was bearing down on us and we could not move. About 20 minutes later the power returned. It was the auto idle restart that malfunctioned, we believe. There was no warning. The situation was dangerous. We took it to the dealer in vancouver, wa and they found no warning messages. They told us to take the car back and drive it and always manually turn off the auto idle restart and it would be safe. They said Honda temporarily suspended the engineering request until July 7, 2025 and until then we just wait. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

68 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/28/2025

My battery was being drained until dead by a faulty keyless control module. I paid to have the battery replaced after my son and I got stranded 1. 5 hours from home. All the lights on the dash went off and nearly every error code displayed as well. Currently at Honda dealership getting the module replaced at a mere $840 after I paid $370 for battery installation when my car "broke down". Now to see I am not the only Honda customer with this issue in this model of vehicle. The car started displaying all the error codes about a week before it began just completely draining the battery that was on 6/23. Battery replaced that day and by Saturday 6/28 was unable to start my car due to battery being completely dead. Had to jump my car and take to dealership on Sunday 6/29. So was late to work and have been without my vehicle for over a week while they were trouble shooting the issue.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/26/2025

I wanted to share a very scary incident that occurred while I was slowly creeping into a parking space in a parking garage. With my foot over the brake, as there were children in the area from a car that had parked to the right of mine, my car suddenly surged forward at a high rate of speed. It ultimately crashed into the 3-foot safety wall with tension wires of the parking garage. Clearly there is an issue with the propulsion system that accelerated my car forward. It's unknown to me if there was also an electrical issue involved in this propulsion failure. The car is available for inspection. The Honda dealer examined the vehicle but was unable to reproduce the issue, indicating that there was nothing wrong with the car, no codes stored of any relation to this incident, and that it was safe to drive. Additionally, I would like to mention that there was no warning lamps lit up on my dashboard before the incident and none appeared after the crash. My insurance was notified, and they deemed the car undrivable. The insurance representative is scheduled to inspect the car tomorrow. This is the first time my car accelerated on its own at a high rate of speed.

70 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

Over the period of a week there where 6 instances when my vehicle completely lost system power when at a complete stop. Took it to the dealership was told it was a low battery, they charged it, could not recreate the incidents and then released the vehicle to me. One the way to work at the second stop light I once again lost all power. Took 2 minutes stuck at a stop light for the vehicle to be able to power on and start again.
