Scheduled my vehicle for recall related to the tailgate/camera/rear area warning system harness replacement for today 10-15-2024 after two notices. Upon arriving for my appointment, I learned that the dealer, voyles Honda marietta, GA does not have the parts, nor can they provide a time/date when parts would be available. Further, the service manager, marvin, said the same parts issue is present with a fuel pump and electric steering campaign currently released. From prior involvement with many heavy truck campaign recalls, I know the o. E. M. Is required to have adequate repair parts to satisfy the released safety recall. In the previously noted Honda recalls this requirement is ignored by the manufacturer placing safety concern on the public, stressing dealers, and forcing vehicle owners to operate defective vehicles because parts to repair are not available, nor is there an expected date when they will be. Responses like “on manufacturer back order “ is not acceptable for a released national safety recall. Honda corporate needs to be held accountable and owners need to be compensated for their inconvenience. Maybe restrict Honda from selling more vehicles until all safety campaigns are completed. Nhtsa, check your records on Honda’s completion performance and take appropriate actions.

The backup camera on my Honda Ridgeline was repaired under a recall but is now defective again. I hope Honda will investigate the previous recall repairs and issue another fix in the future.

Was denied recall for backup camera. My backup camera went dead July 4th weekend with heavy rain it worked again and glitch on and off. Made a appt 7/10/2024 at my local dealership where I bought the vehicle and was told they are going to take pictures of it and send them in for the harness. When I got there camera works atm and was denied on recall.

I experienced multiple warning lights on my dash when disengaging my cruise control on the freeway to pass a slower vehicle in front of me. Attached photo depicts these lights and a loss of dash gauges. I arranged a vehicle inspection from the purchasing dealer the next day, but later the entire dash “blacked out” losing speedometer, tachometer, turn signals, back-up camera etc. Given the uncertainty of the safe driving condition of the vehicle I opted to have a closer authorized dealer inspect the vehicle. The consensus was that there was a failure of the dash panel resulting in a $1600. 00 repair. Learning that this exact failure was known to american Honda motor CO. , inc. I reached out to their customer service since like year(s) models of the passport, pilot & odyssey were part of an official warranty recall (along with extended warranty coverage) by american Honda motor CO. , inc. To see if any goodwill assistance would be provided, given what I’m sure are shared components between the three models. Honda declined. In all transparency, I am a retired ahm employee who services my own vehicles, so their decline, I’m told was partially based on the lack of an official service history. The failure that I have described is totally unrelated to scheduled service. In closing, I am attaching a “screenshot” for a Honda pilot owners blog which goes into greater detail of the exact failure I experienced, described as inappropriate software programming. Again, these items in the recall cited fmv ss101 & fmv ss111 as being key reasons for the issuance of the recall. Why the 2020 Honda Ridgeline which experienced this exact failure was excluded is a question that Honda should answer. Thank you.
1. Vehicle when locked arms the car alarm. When armed the car alarm is randomly and intermittently going off, and dash lights light up exactly like the system is ready to start. Vehicle is available for inspection. 2. Has potential to run battery down if alarm is not silenced in a timely manner leaving the vehicle operator stranded. 3. Problem on this specific vehicle has not yet been reproduced by the dealer but Honda issued a service bulletin relating to the problem. Honda service bulletin 21-055 4. Vehicle not yet inspected by others 5. No early indication failure would occur. First indication of problem occurred week of 6/16/2024.

Back up camera stopped working a couple of months ago. I currently have aprox. 56000 mles as of June 30 2024. Cant see anything backing up - cloudy picture on dashboard. I will have to have fixed soon-too dangerous trying to look through the back window.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while the vehicle was not being driven, the vehicle remained running, causing the battery to drain. The contact had the vehicle jumpstarted; however, the battery failure recurred. The contact replaced the battery. Upon replacing the battery, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the alarm system sounded off throughout the night. The contact called an independent mechanic and was referred to the dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with a faulty keyless access unit. The dealer recommended that the keyless access unit be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Back up camera no longer works, all black when in reverse.
Rear camera does not work. After investigation found four or five broken wires in the wire harness that goes to the rear camera and some other stuff.
Rear camera has stopped working. Black screen. Poor rear visibility when trying to back up causing a safety issue. Same issue as service bulletin 22-049 describes, except this is a 2020 not a 2019.
My rear back-up camera suddenly stopped working. The display screen is fine, but no signal is reaching it. No warnings or messages. Worked one minute, not the next. Looking on-line in the forum, it looks like a common failure of the wiring harness at the tailgate.
The back-up video is not operating on this vehicle. It stopped functioning properly within the past week. In checking on this, it appears multiple other owners of this vehicle are experiencing the same issue and it generally relates to wires being pinched or cut accidently due to apparent design or equipment failure while vehicle is being operated in routine fashion. Specifically, it appears these wires are pinched and ultimately severed when tailgate is being opened/closed. This is an issue as the camera is very important manner for safely backing.
Back camera failed and screen goes black.
So I complained before and nothing has happened. I took my Ridgeline in for the recall on the backup camera and my camera still flickers or goes out. Happens randomly not all the time. I brought it up twice to the Honda dealership and they couldn’t help me since it was working fine when I brought it in. And my transmission since 20k miles still lags and jutters and makes clanking sounds. I have done multiple transmissions fluid changes like recommended but I don’t trust it. And only the first time they covered it and did a software update but that didn’t fix it then my warranty expired and they wanted to charge me for any repairs after. I have had this issue since I bought the Ridgeline. Not even 100k miles and I can’t trust it to drive more than an hour. This been happening for years and I complained before but nothing ever got done. My backup camera still goes in and out as of today and I have received multiple transmission is over heating warnings that then turn off. And now it’s starting to to not shift sometimes and high revs it.
The backup camera suddenly went black. I saw this was a problem that led to a recall on earlier models of the Honda Ridgeline. I was fortunate in that the dealer did get it covered by the warranty department. The confirmed it was a wiring problem.
3/4/2024. Backup camera failure. Black screen. Located broken wires in wiring harness. Same location as those in earlier recall.
Backup camera wires pinched, camera stops working!.
Back-up camera failed.
I have been getting recall notices and each time I've called (beginning of the recall and just now Dec 11th) my Honda location has told me Honda has not released the the parts yet another notice will be sent to advise when they will be available for repair. This is very frustrating as I have time now for the repair to be done and I'm not always available for this process , so nothing has been on a timely manner as this has been ongoing for months and months now. I've not had any accidents yet!.
Back up camera blacks out from time to time.
My rear camera stopped working. My understanding is that it is a defect in the wiring harness. My rear camera is not useable, and makes backing up very difficult and is a potential hazard.
My incident is related to keyless system problem, it is drained out the battery and I can't be able start on my pickup. Because it is turn on and off the instrumental panel several times until the battery is drained out of power. This keyless system, shouldn't affect the battery, because his function is only for turn on the vehicle. I never thought this kind of new turn on system buttons.
My cars auto engine idle is malfunctioning causing my car to have serious transmission issues. I currently have 3 warning signs on my dashboard. 1. All wheel drive system problem 2. Auto engine idle stop system problem 3. Charging system problem. I bought the car used last year. Its a 2020 Honda Ridgeline with only 29k mikes. Ive been seeing reports online that this issus has been affecting many Honda users. Please help!! Honda needs to be responsible for this problem! recall now!.
2023 Ridgeline auto dim not working properly. Will high beam on coming cars, will not brighten when they should and if they do brighten they only stay on for a few seconds then dim for no reason.
Rear view camera and rear traffic and warning systems stopped working. Honda diagnosed and repaired the wiring harness. Nhtsa has opened an investigation pe24004 which appears to identical to the issue we have.
While driving home, my brand new 2023 Honda Ridgeline's, with 3,350 miles, transmission's warning light popped up and my transmission when into n while on the highway, I was on the fast lane, while I started noticing the lack of power coming out of the transmission. I almost hit several cars and almost got killed by a 18 wheeler because by the time I managed to reach the emergency lane, I was doing 35 miles on a 65 zone, highway. My truck got stuck in p till I removed the terminals from the battery and reset the system. The truck was available to be put on d, but now the gears are bouncing and the truck accelerate by itself while braking almost collating with the vehicle in front of me. Honda can not replicate the problem and says it is fine. I am worry to kill someone on the road for Honda's 9 speed transmission.
My reverse camera was intermittent approximately 2 months ago. It would occasionally flicker, but then went totally dark with no picture. I took it upon myself to investigate for a loose wire as I know this was an items that was recalled on the 2017-19 models as well. I did find a severed wire, which leads me to believe that the same issues that forced a recall on the previous models is also affecting my 2020 Ridgeline. The absence of the backup camera makes backing out of parking space or the potential for colliding with other cars or pedestrians a very real concern.
My 2017 Ridgeline had clicking noises in the dash and the interior lights were flickering, truck was in the garage at home. I was able to start the truck and move it outside. I was afraid it may be a short and start a fire. Upon turning off truck it started making the noises again and interior lights flickering. I took it to Honda the next day and after two days they claimed they couldn't figure it out but charged me to disconnect my after market amp and labor for diagnostic. Two days later the issue persisted. I called Honda again and brought it in, this time there was a code to read. The code was "keyless start system problem" so they ordered the module to fix it but explained that it was on backorder and there was no eta on when I'd get the part. A few weeks later I was stranded at work because my truck had been trying to go into accessory mode all day with the horn blowing. This problem is very intermittent but if left it will drain the battery. It seems to be every 2-3 days that the problem happens.
Backup camera became intermittent then failed completely. Display (left side of rear view mirror) shows only a blue screen with no image. It makes backing up difficult.

Was stopped at a traffic light and idle-stop had engaged. Released brake and vehicle failed to restart. Multiple attempts to restart before it actually started. Many dash indicators were lit, but I was too frantic to notice which. Was in heavy traffic and it was very unsettling. Only time this has happened, but I feel like it will repeat. Have not been to dealer, but I will.
Rear view camera wiring harness broken. Recalls on 2017 to 2019. My truck is built in 1-20 and is out of warranty. Same issue as with previous Ridgeline harness. Safety issues with no backup. Dealer refuses to do anything about it as it is not in current recall and it's out of warranty.
After driving on the freeway for about 1 hour, took the exit to the right. Check engine light came on and vehicle had loss of power and was shuttering. Attempts at accelerating were met with little to no power. Tried turning off eco mode, no change. Limped to the first safe place to stop, avoiding any fast traffic behind. Shut off vehicle, and when I started again, no check engine light, vehicle operated as normal. I fear to think what would have happened when if my child were driving and had to make a merge onto heavy traffic. This is a serious safety issue that I have learned is known. A fix needs to happen before someone is seriously hurt.
