Door Problems of Hyundai Elantra

The rear door opening mechanism fails and prevents the door from opening from either inside the car or outside. It starts off as being inconsistent then full on completely fails.

The right back passenger door can not open from the inside or outside. The driver's door does not open from the inside. If there is an emergency my children who are new drivers could not get out of the vehicle fast enough. I researched this issue and it seems to be a concern of other Hyundai owners. Are the door latches and locks faulty?.

For several weeks, the front drivers door would stick and had to be leaned on hard in order to get it open. Now, the door will not open wide enough for a child to get in or out. In order for me to get behind the wheel, I have to enter through the passenger side and climb over the center console. The door looks as if it is detaching itself from the vehicle. Also, the roof appears to be sinking. These problems did not exist when I purchased the vehicle.

We get a wind noise when driving into the wind and other misc times. Noise sounds like an alarm clock without the pauses in tone. It sounds to be eminating from front of vehicle, windsheild, or the doors. The dealer thinks its the door seals. Waiting to see. Been to the shop 5 times for this problem now! 1st time they didn't know what it was, never heard of this problem, couldn't duplicate, second time they knew exactly what it was, ordered door seals. 3rd time they got the wrong door seals, forth time, they got one wrong door seal again! fift time the have had it for one week three days to this date! also revs up to high during start up. Dealer stated that the transmission was at fault???? that it had to catch in gear????? this is a manual! what is he talking about!!!!?? also has bent rims! we have baby-ed that car! only 2400 miles and bent rims! this car is a lemon!! what do you think? bear@tbhod. While traveling on the highway without prior warning the airbag light illuminated on the dashboard. Dealer is aware of the problem. Severe vibration in steering wheel after brakes are applied. Dealer found rotors were warped due to overheating and brake pads had to be replaced. However problem reoccured. Transmission did not shift properly and revved at a high rpm between 2nd and 3rd and bucked before shifting. Abl. Pco.

Both handles in front doors had fallen off without prior warning. Could not determine cause. Dealer had been contacted. Please provide more information.

While driving headlights have unexpectedly burned out four times, parking lights remain on after the ignition is turned off, and power controlled door locks operate intermittently. Dealership indicated after-market product was caused by electrical failure.

Both rear doors freeze shut when temp is below 32 and can not be opened from outside or inside till warmed. Creates safety hazard since rear passengers must clime over from front and are trapped in the rear seats in case of an accident. This happens every time the temp is below 32 regardless of rain, can be dry for days still happens. Returned to dealer they can not fix. Called Hyundai they said they know of problem but cant fix it.

Door handle on the inside of the vehicle fails to work. Would have to open door on the outside while being inside of vehicle. All the door handles on vehicle are broken. Taking vehicle to dealer to check.

Driver side interior door handle broke 3/99 could not exit through that door. New handle installed 3/99 and broke again 9/2000 could not exit through subject door. This could make emergency exit difficult.

Driver's side door handle has broken on several occasions. When handle broke driver's side occupant was unable to exit vehicle. Also, a problem with engine,. When truning off vehicle with key out of the ignition, engine continued to run. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.

The drivers side door handle has been replaced twice and the handle is still not functioning properly.

Within 17,000 miles the front brake pads has prematurely worn out, and rotors were resurfaced. Cause unknown. Dealer cannot identify the problem. Both front window fall while driving. Door ajar light stays on. Right door panel make noise. Dome light stays on.

While getting out of the vehicle the owner lost balance and fell against the door. There is a big dent in the door. The consumer believes there is a structural problem. Please provide details.
