I was in a front end collision on 7/30/10. The car of the driver who hit me had her airbags deploy, while mine did not. The impact to my car was severe enough that the radiator support had to be replaced along with the bumper headlight and hood. I was going 20 - 25 mph and the other diver was doing approximately the same speed.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. While driving uphill around a corner at a fast speed, the contact rear ended a horse trailer. The air bags deployed 3 to 4 seconds after she hit the steering wheel. She sustained bruised ribs in the middle of her chest. The contact went home in pain and then decided to go to the hospital. A police report was filed. The contact was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and she was wearing her seat belt. There was no maintenance or service performed on the air bags. The insurance company declared that the vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 3,000. Updated 12-15-08 updated 12/17/08 8jb.
I had a new 2008 Hyundai Elantra. The vehicle had only 3,000 miles on it. I hit another vehicle from behind. It was a direct front hit at about 40-45 mph. The seat belt did not tighten to hold either myself or my passenger back. The air bags for myself and my passenger did not deploy. All professional people (fire dept, mechanics, tow yard, police) stated repeatedly that there was no reason for the air bags and seat belts not to work.

Airbags on my 2002 Hyundai Elantra gt did not go off when I had a head on collision with a guardrail at high speed. No injuries except whiplash, luckily!.
Bhught car used 6 weeks ago. Ever since while my wife {120lbs] occup[ies right front passenger seat , the air bag disabled light stays illuninated. To extinguise she has to wiggle around on seat , slide forward and someitmes lift her weight off of the seat and drop on to seat several times/ took car back to dealer, crest Hyundai ,and they tested seat weight requirements with a propane bottle. This is hardly the correct procedure. They said there was no problem. Problem persists every time she or any one light rides in that seat. Have viewed this site and found numerous other complaints relating to this problem.

Car involved in a low speed (20-25mph) collision. Front left quarter panel engaged rear right of pickup bed. No hood damage occured, minor bumper damage but extensive damage to front left axle assemble when it was broke loose from mountings. Air bag deployed on drivers side. The drivers side seatbelt failed to anchor on hard brake or on impact causing the driver to be flung forward injuring the drivers left shoulder and causing the drivers hand to hit the windshield hard enough to break the windshield. It is unclear weather the air bag deployment caused the arm to hit the windshield. Seatbelt jamed in extended position raising concern by the body repair shop and replacement of the entire seatbelt unit. Furture the body repair shop said that the "burn ring" was not burnt indicating the force retract never engaged upon air bag deployment and seatbelt was not ever retracted after the acciedent -- meaning the way it was extended is the way it was at the time the air bag deployed. Body repair shop has been instructed to return the broked seatbelt assemble to me up on completion of the repairs to the car.

Vehicle was involved in an accident and the engine compartment caught on fire. The consumer believed the accident was due to recall (04v178000) regarding the fuel tank.
2004 Hyundai Elantra. I purchased the car in may of 2004. Since then on two occasions with adults sitting in the front passenger seat the air bag off light has come on. The Hyundai dealer says they can't recreate it and there is nothing they can do about it.
Consumer received NHTSA recall 03v322000. When front passenger seat is unoccupied or is occupied by someone lighter than 56. 4 pounds, the passenger's air bag deactivates, and will not deploy if a crash occurs. This recall applied for those vehicles manufactured between 6/12/2003 and 18/11/2003. However, consumer's vehicle was manufactured on 6/18/2003 and dealer won't honor the recall.

I owned 1 2002 Hyundai Elantra, in which I was involved in a serious accident on the freeway. My car was only 5 months old when this accident occurred. This car was purchased because it had been equipped with 4 airbags, which included head protection. This accident occurred on February 19, 2003. I was hit by a semi truck, mainly on the drivers side, to which none of the 4 airbags deployed. Hyundai had been contacted, to which they claim there was no possible fault of the manufacturer. I am permanently disabled due to this accident, which left me with a brain injury as well as numerous permanent issues. We are working with senator timothy grindell in the state of ohio, to make "road rage" (which had been the reason for this accident), in trying to make road rage a punishable crime in the state of ohio. We have not been compensated in any way from Hyundai motor company, not even another vehicle, since my car had been totaled. Can you please tell me if anything can be done since I recently found out that there has been a recall on the exact part that they found to be faulty, in that none of the air bags deployed. I am eager to get some kind of information, with the hopes of helping others in the future, in that these cars are unsafe, and that Hyundai will not take any kind of responsibility in this case. I appreciate any kind of help in my case, thank you very much!.
