I have a pending case no. [xxx] with Hyundai. My sons vehicle has been at advantage Hyundai in hicksville, NY (the "dealer") since April 5 pending a recall repair (NHTSA campaign id no. 09v125000). I contacted the dealer again today and spoke to michael keily (516-465-7700) who informed that he had no idea when the needed part will be available and therefore he was unable to give me a date by which I can expect the vehicle to be repaired. Mr. Keily also informed me today that Hyundai corporate will only pay $35 per day for a rental replacement vehicle. I contacted enterprise car rental and they informed me that a compact vehicle will cost $58. 50 per day given that my son is 21 years old. My son has been without a vehicle for a month, has no means of transportation to get to his summer job and cannot afford the economic hardship of paying an additional $23. 50 per day. I contacted Hyundai corporate (1-800-633-5151) and after being on music hold for over 2 â½ hours, two different customer service representatives informed me that they would need an additional 2 to 3 business days before they could provide me with an answer as to whether Hyundai would absorb the full cost of a rental vehicle. Hyundai has failed to repair my son's vehicle within a reasonable time" (page 14 NHTSA "motor vehicles safety defects and recalls- what every vehicle owner should know") and therefore they should be compelled to pay for the full cost of a rental vehicle without further delay. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Hyundai recall campaign 091 - late recall notices, inability to fix the problem due to lack of parts, putting the drivers at risk.
I have waited nearly 3 months due to backordered parts to remedy Elantra suspension recall. (NHTSA recall 09v125000).
2002 Elantra gt made r turn from full stop onto chester pike. Heard grinding from passenger front wheel. Car came to complete stop. Front wheel fell off. Fractured suspension arm was seen. Axle failure was found when care was inspected. Recall was issued 7/10/09. I am the original owner and have not received a recall notice. I do receive weekly ads from Hyundai suggesting trade in, so they know where I am. I now need to jump through hoops to get Hyundai to pay, as I did not find out about the recall until my car was towed to and repaired by an independent garage. Police were on scene with lights flashing to protect disabled vehicle until tow truck arrived. No report was filled as there was no accident or injury.

We purchased a used 2001 Hyundai Elantra for our son to take to college. On Monday evening (9/21/09), he was stopped at a stop sign when the wheel fell off of the vehicle and the front axle fell to the ground. The policeman at the scene informed my son that he avoided a serious accident because he was stopped when the incident occurred. Upon researching a "carfax" site, I found that the vehicle was subject to recall for corrosion and fracture of the suspension system. We were never notified of the recall, neither by the manufacturer nor by the dealer from whom we purchased the vehicle. \ my concern is that this was a potentially deadly condition and we had no idea that it existed.
Air bag light is on when car is on and started. Also when turning left or right my car is making cranking noises up in the front of the car.
I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra that wears the front tires unevenly. The original tires had about 28,000 miles on them. The tires looked fine on the outside but were worn down to the steel belts on the inside. They also had a diagonal wear which made the front end hop. After replacing the tires with snows I took it to a service auto center for an alignment and was told there was no adjustment for the tire wear. I then took back to dealer and was told the vehicle was in specs but they could not correct the problem. The service person said I should rotate the tires every 5,000 miles. I have done this to no prevail. The snows had less than 8000 miles when the noticeable hop returned. Spring came and put new all season tires on. I just hope the tires don't blow out while driving.

My wife was driving to work and had just come to a stop when the front suspension collapsed. She had the car towed to our preferred repair shop. They told use that the suspension had rusted out and that they had never seen that before.
Rear camber goes out of factory specification with loads 75 pounds and over causing unstability in the rear end causing the rear of the car to over react when steering the car.
Alignment on my vehicle (2007 Hyundai Elantra se) is not adjusted properly, and cannot be adjusted properly. Vehicle is unsafe to drive on the highway. Rear end goes sideways because camber settings are creating oversteer situation.
2002 Hyundai Elantra, consumer took vehicle to a local garage for an inspection, on 6-20-05, and mechanic rotated/ balanced tires, and replaced two tires with new ones. Also, replaced fuel injection system/ replaced a gasket/ front wheels were aligned/ steering wheel was centered, and they checked caster and camber angles. Then mechanic told consumer that vehicle passed NY state inspection. The consumer started traveling from NY to va on 6-30, and on 7-2 vehicle stalled, check engine light came on, vehicle had completely stopped although engine was still running, oil gauge warning light came on, it went up to highest point. This was first time vehicle stalled. The consumer had the vehicle towed to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle and told consumer that he should take it to a dealership because of the warranty. Dealership ran a diagnostic and then replaced radiator and radiator pump. They told consumer that was reason for vehicle overheating and stalling. This was after consumer was told by dealership that vehicle was safe to drive. So consumer traveled back home, roads were wet and it was late in da. The check engine light came on again. As soon as light came on the speed reduced but the engine itself was still on but, the vehicle was not able to move at a safe speed and stalled. Consumer's and his family lives were in dangered although there were no actual accidents. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. They told consumer that problem was with transmission. There was a hose not connected properly which caused vehicle to leak transmission fluid.
The steering wheel and front wheels shake above 65 mph which can also be felt throughout the front of the car. I feel the excessive shake could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle.
Right front end vibration. Dealer contacted.
While traveling 70mph vehicle bounced, the tires blewout because vehicle was off balance. Prior to this incident, dealer/manufacturer were notified.

Purchased the car 7/98 as a demo with 5500 miles with full factory warranty. 1 month later in 8/98, had driven 5100 miles (which included vacation to north carolina) and both front tires showing belts. Sent to local tire alignment place for 2 free tires and alignment wheel balancing for all 4 tires. 2 months later (10/98), car is pulling to one side, sometimes the other. . . Tire worn again, replaced tire again after 3,800 miles driven on new tires free of charge. Again alignment and balancing completed. Have now put an additional 12, 500 miles on these tires, purposely not rotating this time, as I did not want to wear out front, switch to rear and wear front out again in short time. I wanted to see how long it would take to see wear. Car shakes badly over 55 mph, also pulls to one side, but switches occasionally and will pull to opposite side. Dealer states problem due only to not rotating tires. I strongly disagree as this has been 3 sets of tires ruined in 21,000 miles. Several tire alignment reps have stated that they are constantly adjusting alignment to Hyundai Elantra specifically, including rep who my dealer has sent me to. One in particular stated almost identical problem in very short time with same type of vehicle with another customer. Will be getting a second opinion from alignment rep of my choice 4-28-99, but feel car is virtual hazard and anticipate continued problems, even if tires replaced a 4th time. Please advise of any suggestions or ideas your department may have regarding my situation. Thank you, kim chronister.
This is a 1998 vehicle that is giving consumer problems with stalling. Also the front end shakes very hard while driving at 40 mph. Dealer has been contacted.
While driving vehicle it pulled to the left. This happened at various speeds. Took vehicle to dealership & mechanic realigned vehicle. Sometime later, problem of alignment reappeared. Took vehicle back to dealership, which had changed hands, & was informed alignment machine is broken & problem can not be corrected. Vehicle has also had transmission problems.

Car has been at dealer over 10 days for front end pull left at highway speeds--zone rep was called and claims pull is normal. I feel it's very unsafe at highway speeds.
