1 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2009 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 02/24/2019

When driving the vehicle, the eps light would arbitrarily turn on and go away when the ignition key is cycled off and back on. When the light comes on, it immediately becomes difficult to steer. The car reverts to manual steering mode and requires significant amount of effort to control. We have had the eps light turn on multiple times without warning while driving and putting us in dangerous, unsafe conditions on the road. Recently, the eps light is staying on and not going away. We visited the local dealer to report this issue and their diagnosis resulted in error codes related to the steering angle sensor-electrical, torque sensor main signal fault, ecu (brake system) hardware error, can time-out ems, and motor. When asked, they were not willing to perform an evaluation as per the technical service bulletin. They recalibrated the steering angle sensor and stated that if the problem reoccurs, we would need to return to the dealership to replace the steering column (part number 56310-2h250 as1) and pay full cost of repair (part and labor). This part number is listed as a replaceable item per the technical service bulletin. Please note that the dealership performed an eps s/w chk/ecu upgrade in 2015 when no issues were present and refuse to further assist when the issue is present when the recall campaign information letter in March 2015 clearly states that the final remedy has not been developed at this time. the diagnosis shows that a faulty part was installed by the car manufacturer, as stated in the recall, and the dealership is refusing to address the actual issue. Instead of solving the problem, they insist that we drive this potentially unsafe vehicle until the issue reoccurs. This is a safety related concern as there is no warning to when this issue will occur. Their recall notice states that the eps problems could result in an increased risk of a crash. .

2 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2008 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

The car [ Hyundai Elantra 2008 -manual trans] has just reached 23,630 mi. Today 11/15/2018, { I purchased of the car new 11/2007. I saw that kuhmo solas kh16 tires were on the car. } a tire lost air shortly after an air fill on 11/15/2018 and was totally flat by 10p that evening having sat parked only 7hrs after an air fill. I measured the tread depth level and about 1/16 inch left. These identical four tires wore out pre-maturely and the sidewalls look dry. Rot. As precaution I now must find another complete set of tires that will have structural integrity reliable of warranty mileage limits. Cannot risk a 260mi drive. Just refilled with air to get me to a tire retailer for replacement tires of another brand.

3 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

These new cars do not have a manual release for the trunk anymore - making them extremely dangerous. The only way to open the trunk is by releasing the level on the very front driver's side or you must have the keys in your hand. So the car is parked and my son goes out with a friend to get a poster out of the trunk and shuts the door on his hand by accident. - or should I say the trunk came down on his hand and locked his hand inside! and now he can't open the trunk door - and neither can his friends because there is no manual release anymore! and they are all to young to know there is a release on the front driver's side. If I had not been close by - my son would have lost his little pinky finger. It was cut all the way down to the bone. When I called Hyundai to let them know - the first and last response was, "MA'am, could you calm down before we continue?" I said "sure. I am going to calm right down and call the press. " and I hung up and have already notified abc, nbc and the automotive news - this is so dangerous. How could anyone allow new cars to have no manual way to open the trunk anymore. This is not evolution of the auto industry. This is a huge strep backward and it could really prove to be harmful to many people out there. It's one thing to shut the door on your finger or hand - but a door that can not be opened . . . Why in the world would they come up with this faux pas? jill gatsby (310) 359-5164.

4 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 05/30/2017

After two weeks of consistent steering wheel locking up and not being able to turn key in the ignition I brought the car into the dealership on June 6, 2017. I also turned the wheel counterclockwise and did as the manual instructed. It took several attempts, frusteration and being stranded at work several times and it finally unlocked. My husband had a difficult time unlocking the steering wheel as well. When I bought it to dealership it wasn't locking up and the service advisor said it would be looked at but that was a very common happening in these vehicles. It was brought to 6251 grand Ave. Gurnee, IL. The service advisor was jeffrey vlach #49715.

6 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2012 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

I bought the Hyundai Elantra 2012 and has been giving me problems. The car will not start sometime till I start moving the steering wheel and the shifter. It has done it to me several times since I bought it and I took it to the dealer I purchased the car and the mechanic said there is nothing wrong. I argued that there is they expect me to leave it at the dealer for a while till they find the problem but the only thing is that it's my only transportation. The shifter locks on me while I'm holding the brake down, I have to use the manual button to unlock it. I notice that when it doesn't want to start and I manually shift the gear to neutral the car starts. The dealer wants me to replicate the problem and I ask my self how??? it doesn't do it all the time. I have roadside assistance and I called them but by that time they get to me I got the car to start.
