1 Radiator problem of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

I was driving to norwood on a residential road and the car began overheating so I pulled over, let it cool down, and added water to the radiator. I didn't know why it would overheat, but once it cooled, I drove back home. We checked the oil and other fluids to be sure it wasn't low. The fluids were fine and we thought it was going to be the radiator. The next day, I went to a local restaurant in eastgate ohio. When I pulled into the drive thru, it felt like the car wasn't getting power and then shut off. I went to start it, but it wouldn't start. The engine wouldn't even turn over. I had to have it towed back to my apartment by our mechanic. The mechanic looked under the hood and explained that the engine is locked up. I still owe on the vehicle so I parked it and have been trying to save money to get an engine.

2 Radiator problem of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

When driving on the highway for a short road trip the engine warning light and bell came on saying that the engine was overheating. Pulled over on the side of the road and popped the hood to find the radiator wet and smelling sweet. I limped the car the few miles and had the car towed to the local dealership. The dealer ship stated that the radiator fan was loose causing the blade to rub a whole in the radiator causing a hole to form. They also replaced the oil in the car to ensure that the oil was not compromised after getting so hot. Replaced with havoline synthetic.

On rt. 29 north in maryland, rush hour bumper to bumper traffic, this vehicle, rear ended another vehicle. There was over $8,900 of damage and the driver injured his left knee by hitting the dash. The car stalled before the crash and the air bags did not deploy. The fan was pushed into the radiator and both headlights were completly, and totally demolished, with damage including from the front bumper to the two front doors, and e everything between the bumper and the engine block. This is the second front end accident for this car. The first being 3 weeks after purchase and again the air bags did not deploy.

4 Radiator problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 09/18/2010

2003 Hyundai Elantra, 138,000 miles. When driving on highway 9/18/10, suddenly began to smell (burning), white smoke from engine, then check engine light came on and temp gauge showed extremely hot - no warning before the engine overheated. Mechanic says problem was clamp in radiator that either corroded or somehow came off. Result is that the entire engine is damaged, and we have to replace it. My concerns are (1) this seemed to happen with no warning. There was no leak or symptoms of problems before the engine overheated and was irreparably damaged. (2) we had this exact same problem about 2 years ago. Same scenario - driving on highway, engine overheated without warning, caused much engine damage. At that time, we were able to fight for some warranty coverage from the dealership. Now, we are well past the limits of the warranty. I just find it extremely strange that this would happen twice to the same vehicle.

5 Radiator problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 09/02/2009

Ck engine light came on 3 times took it to dealer said no problems just needed to reset codes??? about 2 yrs. Later was driving in my 2003 Hyundai Elantra in sept. Of 2009- a very hot day101-without warning no temp lights (nothing) I saw white smoke coming from the hood at first thought maybe heat waves- then car started to loose power-pulled over (very dangerous) due to loosing power on the highway quickly with many people due to fri. -labor day weekend 5pm- anyway pulled over to see that car was smoking (white smoke) engine was so hot it melted the radiator-went to dealer (bill dube Hyundai) said warranty just ran out- because car engine was seized and did not work plus that fact that I still owed so much money on bank loan they could not possibly trade it in-so I had to replace the engine and radiator and still pay bank loan.

6 Radiator problem of the 2000 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 04/13/2006

This vehicle was purchased as a used vehicle in April 2004. It only had 38,000 miles on it. I replaced all the belts, tires and fluids in the vehicle. In August 2004, the car overheated. I called atlantic Hyundai in east islip and they told me to have the car towed there. Three days later they informed me that the heat of the engine had actually melted the radiator. They also told me that it had blown a head gasket. The car was still under warranty but they didn't want to honor the warranty. After much arguing with them and the warranty dept. , they finally agreed to do the repairs. Much to my disappointment, the problem was not fixed. The car continually overheated. I took it to another mechanic who said the thermostat had not been replaced and it looks like they never replaced the head gasket. I then paid to replace the thermostat. The car continues to overheat if driven at speeds over 30 mph. The car has been towed 4 times in the last year due to overheating. The car cannot be driven more than 30 miles because it will overheat. The car has been serviced 7 times for overheating issues. The latest issue is that the engine coolant does not circulate and causes the car to overheat. My 19 year old daughter, for whom the car was purchased, was recently traveling on the sunrise highway, less than 4 miles driven, when the car overheated again. The car currently has 46,000 miles.

9 Radiator problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 05/12/2004

My car problems started approximately 6-8 mos after purchasing the vehicle. I was having problems with the car starting, engine, radiator, gasket, alternator, and fuel sector just to name a few issues. Over the years, I had this vehicle in and out of mechanic shop & Hyundai dealerships. The vehicle was brand new, and I left off of the lot with no more than 10 miles on it. I am furious because I knew that the vehicle was a lemon, however the Hyundai dealership kept fighting me on the claim. After 9 yrs. With this vehicle, I have spend approx. As much the vehicle, just on repair alone. I contacted the bbb and Hyundai about my concerns and would like for my claim to be reviewed in its entirety. The car fax report will show every repair on my vehicle. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at[xxx] or [xxx]. Thank you for addressing my concern.
