My 2005 Hyundai Elantra hydroplanes even at low speeds and skids very easily on slightly wet pavement. My daughter has complained about this to me many times. Tonight she hydroplaned and went into a wooden pole. She wasn't injured and the airbag did not deploy; however, the front fender was damaged. I am going to have it fixed then see about getting rid of the car. It does not seem to be safe.

2002 Hyundai Elantra, consumer took vehicle to a local garage for an inspection, on 6-20-05, and mechanic rotated/ balanced tires, and replaced two tires with new ones. Also, replaced fuel injection system/ replaced a gasket/ front wheels were aligned/ steering wheel was centered, and they checked caster and camber angles. Then mechanic told consumer that vehicle passed NY state inspection. The consumer started traveling from NY to va on 6-30, and on 7-2 vehicle stalled, check engine light came on, vehicle had completely stopped although engine was still running, oil gauge warning light came on, it went up to highest point. This was first time vehicle stalled. The consumer had the vehicle towed to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle and told consumer that he should take it to a dealership because of the warranty. Dealership ran a diagnostic and then replaced radiator and radiator pump. They told consumer that was reason for vehicle overheating and stalling. This was after consumer was told by dealership that vehicle was safe to drive. So consumer traveled back home, roads were wet and it was late in da. The check engine light came on again. As soon as light came on the speed reduced but the engine itself was still on but, the vehicle was not able to move at a safe speed and stalled. Consumer's and his family lives were in dangered although there were no actual accidents. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. They told consumer that problem was with transmission. There was a hose not connected properly which caused vehicle to leak transmission fluid.

The contact owns a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. The contact noticed that the air bag indicator light kept illuminating. The dealer repaired the failure and diagnosed it as the air bag sensor. Approximately 60,000 miles late, the failure recurred. Also, currentl ythe electrical system failed. The contact stated that the radio activated automatically, the volume increased, and certain lights inside the vehicle, such as the air conditioner controller lights, failed to illuminate. The contact had the radiator replaced . In addeition, the tires were constantly wearing out, and she was about to purchase fourth set in less than two years. She has not spoken with the manufacturer about the failures. The current mileage is 73,000 . And failure mileages was 45,000. Abl. Pco.

3 cooper tires - 19560 hr15- blew out on separate occasions while traveling on interstate highways within a period of 1 month. All three tires were purchased new 1 year ago and had less than 11,000 miles on them. The fourth tire was removed due to the high probability that it would fail as well.
Steering wheel vibrates @70 mph. Vibration could lead to a loss of control vibrations can be felt in front and rear seats as well.
While driving on wet roads, the car hydroplaned several times. This is not the first incident of this - it is a common occurrence with these tires. I barely escaped an accident in December, 2003, after hydroplaning. I have driven for 22 years in the pacific NW and never have I been so scared about driving in the rain as I am with these tires.
2003 Hyundai Elantra makes loud noise and thumping sound from front tires when driving at highway speeds. I have seen many other complaints of the same problem on the internet, (msn autos).
The steering wheel and front wheels shake above 65 mph which can also be felt throughout the front of the car. I feel the excessive shake could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle.
There is a terrible howling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle while driving on the highway. The rim's on the car are so flimsy that I have had to rims bent in the last 3 months. They can not handle non paved roads. Th front seat belt does not retract properly causing the seal on the door to be torn when the door is shut. The gas mileage is terrible. Supposed to be upwards of 35+ mpg on the highway and I only get approximately 24 - 26 mpg. The insurance on this vehicle is ridiculous!! you think that I had an Audi. The cost of the insurance is the same. I have brought up my concerns with the dealer that I purchased the car from and they don't seem to think that there is a problem with the howling since they couldn't get it to do it while they were driving the car. The gas mileage they said would improve when the engine was broke in at about 20,000 miles. Well I am past the 20,000 and the mileage has not improved. I am not at all happy with this car. I would get rid of it in a minute if I could get out from under the payments.
Consumer was traveling at about 63 mph when the rubber started peeling away from the left front tire. Tire did not go flat, the rubber peeled away and caused some damage to the left front fender and side molding on the driver side. (ohio traffic police report).

Michelin all season steel belted tire (p195 60 r14) experienced blowout, the blowout caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a concrete divider, during this the airbag experienced no deployment, the vehicle is a total loss because of the accident.
The entire tread section debonded and seperated from the rest of the tire. The tire immediatelly lost all pressure. The vehiche became uncontrollable and left the right side of the interstate. The vehicle became airborne for 40 to 50 feet and impacted on the right forward quarter panel. The vehicle then rolled four times coming to rest on it's wheels. All the occupant were wearing seat belts, which saved their lives. All were airlifted to good samaritan hospital in phoenix az. My wife suffered two dislocated carpels in her left wrist, bruised left shoulder and bruised right arm. My daughter's right wrist was severly lacerated that required intensive recontructive surgery. My son's suffered only bumps and bruises and was treated and released from the hospital. My daughter is going to require extensive rehab for her right hand, but the doctor is optimistic for recovery. These tires were recently rotated, were properly serviced and inspected before my family left on their trip. ( dot number: tire size: p175/65r14 ).

Uniroyal yoldypri 476 (p175) tires did not hold air properly causing excessive wear and failure.
Defective steering system caused loss of steering control, resulting in an accident. Prior to the accident, steering had a vibration and tires were worn too quickly. Also had a problem with vehicle overheating intermittently. Dealer cannot determine problem.
Air in the tires keeps coming out, causing the consumer to keep stopping and putting air in the tires. Air is coming out of the tires from the metal part on the rims.
