1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 05/02/2021

The transmission slips when trying to accelerate and on inclines - losing power to the wheels (feels like you are in neutral, and the rpm's go way up). A very scary and dangerous feeling when merging onto a highway for instance. The car has been well maintained and had the transmission fluid replaced per schedule. As seen from others, this is a common complaint for this vehicle. Nhtsa should order a recall. Have also noticed a clunking noise when coming to a hard stop.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 03/17/2019

Bought my car used to find out that the transmission is slipping. I've looked online to see that I am not the only person with the same problems. Going on to the highway I've noticed that my rpms go high up to 3rd and dont kick into gear until I'm on flat surface on the highway also with a rough slam into the right gear, barely feels like I'm getting the right power. Even driving in the city my car has a rough jerk when going into gears. I cant believe this is not on a recall!!!?.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

Transmission slips and jerks going to third gear and sometimes takes about 5 seconds to downshift if acceleration is needed as I'm entering a highway. My car had about 45,000 miles when this started to happen. A lot of people have the same problem according to online forums but the manufacture would not issue a recall on these defective transmissions.

6 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

I bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra limited edition at the end of 2016 it had 43 miles on it. I have taking it to about 6 different dealerships due to transmission issues and engine power loss and out if the 6 I have gone more the a few times. Their response to my concerns about the car is we cannot reproduce this so there is no problem or there's not a check engine light on. Every dealership that I have gone to repeat this saying over and over. When my car shifts into second gear it's almost as if that gear has two more like driving a stick shift but you're shifting too soon so it spits and sputters, in addition to this 3rd 4th 5th gear has a long delay in shifting it also feels like the transmission is slipping as the rpms and speed come up it feels like the transmission grips and you can feel the torque kick in if you will. There's been many times I have to manually shift the car out of 5th into 6th and a few times out of 4th. My car has 38970 miles on it. I had the transmission flush and the engine, ignition coils have been replaced, I use premium gas and fuel injections clearer. Nowadays when I'm driving I have to push the gas pedal halfway down for the car to actually move. This has been going on about six months after I got this card.

7 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

My transmission slips. There are an alarming amount of online forums showing this is an all too common problem with this vehicle yet no recall has been issued. I am also having problems with 3 out of the 4 power windows. The issue seems to be amother default in this model car because there were also plenty of others with this same issue. All 3 went out at the same time. The mechanic tried replacing the motor and other internal parts but it still will not work. The mechanic was unable to fix the problem.

8 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2012 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

While on a trip engine light came on and transmission started to slip. Dealer told me it was cheap gas, which I just filled up with mobil gas. Also I just changed oil and told it was caused by a pint overfill. They must have put on computer and adjusted specs and turned enging light off. I lost 5 miles to gallon, also dosent shift just right. I read some complaints on internet about transmission trouble on my touring model. They stopped making the model in 2012? the dealer was in cocoa beach FL. Car bought at dealer new in npw FL. I plan a 3000 mi return trip soon, afraid to take car incase I get stuck on hwy.

9 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 08/10/2011

The problem started around 31,000 miles and continues now with 85,000 miles, while driving 40mph at stop and go or even uphill transmission seems to slip into neutral and will then be back in gear without any banging. The dealer changed the filter and fluid around 40,000 miles and blew us off. The time it takes to get back into gear is longer now than in the beginning. There's too many transmission complaints to be ignored. I recently received an unrelated recall for this car but will find another dealer 50 miles away to fix it.

10 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

2009 Hyundai Elantra brand new bought. 1. When the car is put on 'parking' on a hill, it slips back about couple of feet. It seem like gears were not working properly (not in position) because I felt and heard clicking noise that sounded like gears slipping by not being in correct position. 2. It doesn't happen all the time but quite often when it's parked on a hill. About 1-2 times a week. When it happens and I try to see if it repeats, by going back and forth the car and put on parking again, it does not seem to repeat. 3. I haven't done anything to fix the problem because it works after the slippage. But I am thinking to take it to the dealer as in worry of further transmission failure. Only concern is that because it doesn't happen all the time, not sure if dealer will be able to fix it because they usually don't care unless they see them with their own eyes.

13 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 1999 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 03/18/2000

We've had the Elantra in the shop 7 times and the transmission replaced 3 times. The case number with Hyundai is 508316, the case number we had with the bbb is hyu-9980560. The transmission will slip into neutral when passing or accelerating, creating a possible life threatening situation. After the last time it was serviced in December, the car ran fine until just last week. Now it is happening again. Therer is a recall NHTSA campaign id number 99v178000--and according to the dealer, this has been serviced. We are not getting the support we feel we need from the dealer, and also feel that this could be a problem with others based on the number of transmissions that have been replaced in out car.
