1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2020 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

This is brand new car that I purchased 35 days ago that now has 1295 miles on it. I entered the street from a parking lot, there was heavy traffic at the time so I did need to excellerate rapidly when I pulled out. Unfortunately once I was in the road the car had no power and would not pick up speed. The engine rpm was increasing but the car was not picking up speed. Cars were on my bumper blasting their horns and I can't blame them, I'm lucky I didn't cause an accident. I tried to manually shift the car to see if it helps but it would not change gears and I was slowing picking up speed. I had to call Hyundai roadside assistance to come tow the car.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

takata recall I have noticed that my transmission skips or jerks randomly. As I'm driving on the streets or on the highway. . . My rpm's will jump up to 3, 4, or sometimes 5 when I'm driving and holding steady at 2 rpms. I always drive the speed limit and never floor my gas pedal. It also will feel like it's not catching the gears correctly and will jerk. This is something I have noticed over the years with my car but seems to be getting worse over time. I do also have trouble if I change my drive mode to sport. The transmission doesn't seem to grip the gears when needed so I never really use the sport mode.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

I'm writing to notify you of my reoccurring issue on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Upon purchasing my vehicle on or about 5,000 miles, my car would have false starts. I brought the issue up during one of my early maintenance visits at danbury Hyundai which was on December 1, 2012, in which they stated to me that they were my headlights. Any individual with common sense knows transmission and starter issues have no correlation to headlights. In any event, my car began not igniting at all on or about 56,000 miles (video footage of this will be provided if needed). Prior to this, it would have false starts occasionally throughout the year but never on a daily basis until recently. I've had my car towed twice in the month of August to danbury Hyundai and both occasions they said there is nothing they can do for me. As you can imagine, having lemon of a car since the purchase is extremely frustrating and I warn everyone around me to never purchase a Hyundai unless you want to pump your gas and wait an hour for your car to start, if that's the kind of reliability you want then go for it. On September 9th, 2015, my car was returned to me and was working properly until yesterday September 16th. Please be advised that at 4:08 p. M. Leaving work my car would not recognize the gears and would not start and at 7:19p. M. The same issue occurred. . Read more...

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

Car would not go in gear. Was towed to the dealer. Dealer said transmission was shot. Would not fix it under warranty because they claim it was because of the wheels spinning in the snow. The car was never spun as it was on cleared roads. They said tires show spinning wear. This is the second time we had transmission problem. Dealer replaced under warranty with a rebuild tranny. I think we are getting the run around on this problem.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 03/10/2005

I own a 2003 Hyundai Elantra gt from a month after purchase until 3/10/05 I had brought the car back to motor world (wilkes-barre, PA) for service 4 times for the same problem "check engine light was constantly on". One time the service guy told me to just put black tape over the light and I will not see the light . Throughout my ownership of this car I had it service every 3,000 miles for oil changes and 1 time for tires / brakes. I have all documentation for all services. On Sunday night 3/20 I was driving my mother and 10 year old brother home when the car started smoking and would not go into gear. Monday morning 3/21 I had to take the day off work and arrange for towing down to motor world (Hyundai CO. In wilkes barre, PA that has been servicing the check engine problems). I received the call on 3/22 that the transmission needed to be replaced and would not be covered under the warranty as I did not have the transmission fluid replaced at 30,000 miles. The owners manual states that it is recommended to have the fluid changed at 30,000 miles if necessary, it was not necessary. The car has 34,000 miles, there was no signs that the transmission was bad. I have made contact several times with motor world and the Hyundai rep. Who made the decision and they will not speak to me as I have a case with the lemon law. I have made arrangements to have the car picked up from there location , however I did not have the money to pay for a new transmission engine) and pay $ 300 a month. The last time it was serviced at motor world for the check engine light the rep. I dealt with (mike taylor) told me to relax there was no problem with the engine or the car, this kind of thing is simple and continued on that I was blowing it out of proportion. I asked to speak with that same rep. And for the service manger at motor world to speak with that same rep. And I was told he does not work there any longer.

10 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2000 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 08/27/2000

There are two problems, I am not sure if they are related or not 1) car will not shift out of park if on an incline. In order to get it out of park, you must force the shifter. 2) car has problems with initial acceleration after a stop. Will not go into first gear, transmission will "thump" into gear. Transmission fluid level is adequate.
