Hyundai Palisade owners have reported 269 problems related to wiper (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Hyundai Palisade based on all problems reported for the Palisade.
Vehicle has approximately 41,000 miles on it; rear view mirror broke loose from the windshield; had to have the windshield replaced as it pulled some of the glass from the windshield when it broke loose; went to safe-lite glass shop and the owner told me they see lots of Hyundai Palisades with the same issue; $2,000 at the dealership and $1,200 at safe-lite. The oem windshield glass in this vehicle is a safety hazard. Who knows how it would react in a collision?.

Small rock chip in windshield and the next day when turning on the defrost a long crack formed that is approximately 10-12 inches. The windshield is very flimsy and driving with a cracked windshield is a safety issue. The dealer confirmed that several others have called with windshield repairs and that they don't do the work themselves and told me to call safelite.
Large crack formed without any projectile involved. Car was sitting in the garage and temperature was around 40 degrees. Crack starts from the bottom of the windshield near the driver's side and extends upward about 12 inches. The car had been sitting in the garage for 4 days without being driven. Vehicle only has 21,455 miles but is out of warranty due to age.

My driver windshield wiper stop working when driving. It was snowing out and it stopped working. Dealership has been notified. Put myself and my children in the car at risk because I was unable to see out the window. There was no warning light that came on, did not smell differently, just stopped working. Nothing has been inspected as it happened less than 24 hrs ago. Dealer has been notified. They said someone will call me back. Have not heard from the device manager yet.

Small rock chip in windshield and the next day it was already a long crack formed that is taking up the entire driver view. How this cracked after sitting in my garage overnight is beyond me. I have now been told by the dealership (northwest Hyundai in houston) that my dealer windshield coverage only covers up to $1,000 and the replacement is almost $1. 900. He said there is no aftermarket options to get it for less. When I bought the car, they said the overage would cover the cost to replace the entire windshield if needed. (I know never buy the dealer add on, but it was a crunch situation to get the car I needed, and I got it for msrp with the dealer add ons anyways so figured hey if something happens at least I dont have to pay for a new windshield. . . . Welp-- didnt expect to deal with a chip during into a long crack over night.
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the passenger’s side windshield wiper failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the part was covered under warranty and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that less than a month after the repair, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Windshield wipers got crossed in the middle of snowstorm. Drivers side wipers not working properly since. The windshield wipers on my 2022 Palisade are crossing and failing in snow, which is the exact safety defect described in recall 243. Even though it's listed as closed, the part has failed and it's a safety hazard. Now the cars wipers will not work properly in heavy rain or snow. Reached out to both local dealerships and Hyundai customer care. 1 local dealership refused to take the vehicle. Other local dealership was prepared to charge me to refix despite asking for a goodwill refix. Asked customer care Hyundai corporate for a goodwill fix override and was not given one upon asking.
2022 Hyundai Palisade had issue with wipers (stopping at 5 inch from designated place), it was reported and repaired previously in 2023 by Hyundai dealer. However, recently after cold weather, drive side wiper arm was bent inward and passenger side wiper was not working. It is physically impossible for some one to bend wiper arm inwards and provided Hyundai with pictures and dealer is claiming improper use even when we didn't touch or changed wipers previously. There was a recall previously on this issue but don't remember if my vehicle is part of that recall.
Drove vehicle approximately 1 mile ro mcdonald's went in to eat. When I came out, front windshield was cracked on passenger side. I do not recall anything hitting windshield that could cause it to crack. Took car to Hyundai dealer. They looked at it and said it had been hit. Has a very small spot. I do not recall ever having anything hit windshield. I believe it cracked spontaneously for no apparent reason. If it was hit it was a very small something that should not have caused windshield to crack. If windshield cracks that easily, it is unsafe.
While driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy at about 30 mph on a small paved street, the sunroof suddenly exploded with a very loud bang. There were no other cars nearby, no debris, and nothing hit the vehicle. Thankfully, the inside sliding cover was closed, so no glass entered the cabin, but the sound was extremely alarming and could have easily caused an accident if conditions were different. The dealership refused to cover the repair under warranty. After looking online, I discovered many other Hyundai owners reporting the same issue with their panoramic sunroofs, so this does not appear to be an isolated incident. This is a major safety concern. If the interior cover had been open, shattered glass would have fallen directly onto me and my passengers, likely causing injuries. The sudden loud explosion can also startle drivers and lead to loss of control. I believe this is a dangerous defect that requires investigation.

While driving at highway speeds, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. No rocks/debris were found to have caused the sunroof to shatter and we were not manipulating the sunroof in any manner. Luckily, the manually operated internal sunroof cover was in place, or more shattered glass could have entered the two front seats which were occupied. We could have ingested shards of glass, been cut by flying glass, or shards could have entered our eyes, causing a major incident/accident. We could have panicked and swerved aggressively, as the incident was loud and shocking, causing an accident to either us or the surrounding highway traffic. The closest manufacturers shop to the incident did not have the replacement part on hand, so we had to wait until we returned home for replacement parts. The problem was reported to the dealer and the manufacturer inspected the shattered sunroof. Since this is a relatively new vehicle (2024) with appx. 22,000 miles, the manufacturer is covering the repair as a warranty item, no need for an insurance claim. No police report was filed/needed. No warning lamps, annunciations, or aural alerts were heard/visible prior to the sunroof failure.
Sun roof exploded and there is a football sized hole in the roof.
We have had two chips in the windshield in approximately 7 months of ownership, which have resulted in spiderweb type cracks in the windshield. One of the cracks is in the field of view for the driver which creates an impairment/distraction. I believe that the windshield may be defective based on the numerous reports of this issue that I have researched on the internet.
The windshield (visibility system) on my 2025 Hyundai tucson (VIN: [xxx] ) was cracked on [xxx]. I immediately contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (in new york), and later local Hyundai dealers in florida where I now reside. I was informed that the windshield is on a nationwide oem backorder with no estimated time of arrival (eta). As of August 6, 2025, the part remains unavailable, and the vehicle has been inoperable for 57 days, parked in my garage. The crack makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, and due to advanced driver assistance systems (adas) such as lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning, the windshield requires proper oem calibration post-installation, which cannot be performed until the correct part is secured. The issue was confirmed by multiple Hyundai dealers and 3rd-party glass installers, all of whom indicated they are unable to acquire the correct windshield due to Hyundai’s ongoing parts shortage. No resolution has been provided by Hyundai corporate. Although one vendor was referenced by the dealer, they too did not have the part available locally. Hyundai has offered limited rental reimbursement, but not enough to cover costs during this extended downtime. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer or insurance company beyond initial confirmation of the damage. No warning lights or messages preceded the incident — the issue is entirely due to the unavailability of a critical oem part, making the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am paying monthly for a financed vehicle that cannot be driven due to a manufacturing and supply chain failure beyond my control. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was driving down the street in my neighborhood and heard an extremely loud explosion. I pulled over to check that it wasn’t the tires and that there wasn’t anything on the street. As I pulled into my driveway I heard rattling on the roof, I got out the car to check and saw that the sunroof was shattered and there was shards of glass everywhere. There did not appear to be any impacts though, just shattered glass. I had the sunroof shade closed so no glass fell on me, thank god.
I purchased the 2025 cpo Palisade calligraphy in April 9, 2025. Two weeks after I purchased it, I started noticing abnormal scratches and chips in the windshield. I had not driven behind a vehicle that threw rocks, I was not a beach for sand to scratch, nor had my vehicle been exposed to a creature that could have scratched the windshield. I reached out to my sales person and he said he'd connect back with me. That never happened. A couple months later, after getting my car detailed, I noticed many more scratches and dozens of chips. I reached back out to the dealer and my salesperson had left. I connected with a manager, as the chipping and scratching was causing a safety issue as I was focusing on it while driving and the way the sun would hit it caused awful glares. After speaking with a manager and then general sales manager, they agreed to replace the windshield. It was not until after this situation and my moonroof randomly exploding that I realized there were a number of windshield complaints on Hyundai's, specifically Palisades. While most reports are from 2020, I wanted to report to nthsb that the issue is still happening.
Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. I will be seeing my dealer tomorrow 4/22/25 huntington Hyundai in new york to further evaluate it. There was no prior warning or symptoms before the exploding sunroof.
Ac failire im summer, just outside warranty but TSB issued. Holler Hyundai service wants to charge me $350 diagnostic fee to take a look and diagnose. Extreme heat while having to use vehicle to go to work, run errands and transport children. No alternate vehicle is available and dealership is unreasonable to work with. Due to high humidity in florida windows fog and hard to defog, visibility is impaired suddenly while driving.

I was driving down the highway and suddenly heard a crack. One on the windshield and one on the passenger window.
The driver side wiper stopped functioning during a rain storm. Fortunately, I was not on a major road and was able to navigate. If I had been on the highway, I would have been blinded and potentially in a major accident if not able to pull over expeditiously. This malfunction occurred approximately one year earlier and was corrected by the dealer at that time. I believe some Hyundai Palisades have had a recall for this issue in the past. I am concerned that this has recurred and not been fixed definitively. This issue has potential fatal consequences. I am taking the vehicle to the dealer tomorrow to address the issue. I cannot take it today as it is still raining and I would be placing myself and others at risk.
Purchased car new on 01/10/2025. Drove across country to my home without any problems. At 3300 miles, on 02/21/2025, I was entering circular freeway onramp when a horizontal crack about 6 inches long in windshield suddenly appeared midway up on driver's side. No object observed striking glass either visually or audibly. After parking, crack was in outer glass layer with no indication of impact damage, such as spider cracking. Small glass fragments flaked off in area where glass crack originated. Crack has continued expanding horizontally to about 18 inches as of this writing. Crack is in direct line of driver's vision creating distraction. Structural integrity of the glass is now in question. Appears to be a stress induced crack. Due to recent crack, windshield has not yet been inspected by professionals but is available for inspection. Mild temperature in the high 50's and no rapid temperature changes. Car has heads up display (hud) which I understand has a different windshield from non-hud models.
Just stopped working windshield and rear wipers.
Passenger side wiper stopped working after being stuck by ice/snow. Won’t work unless assisted.
The passenger side wiper stopped working. Hyundai dealer denied warranty claim.
After removing snow from my windshield, the left (driver's) side wiper is not moving. I'm trying to make an appointment with key Hyundai of milford, CT - the dealer does not have an appointment until February. This is a real safety issue.
Recent snow in north east - removing snow and clearing windshield after removing snow from my windshield, the left (driver's) side wiper is not moving. Called key Hyundai of milford, CT - the dealer does not have an appointment until February. This is a real safety issue.
Snowing & my drivers side front wiper stopped working. Palssenger side ok. Had to pull over every couple blocks to manually wipe window clear to see to get home. It has been over a week and still does not work.
The driver side wiper stopped working after heavy snow. The right side under carriage screw came out so it was hanging but eventually got torn off.
Driver side windshield wiper has stopped working after encountering snow. The issue was initially intermittent, but now the wiper on the driver's side has stopped working completely. In searching, this is a known issue with other Palisades.
In January 2025, during snowy weather, the windshield wipers on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed mid-operation and began making a buzzing noise. After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA recall 23v-180 / Hyundai campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (fitzgerald Hyundai in gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in may 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue. This appears to be a recurring safety defect that puts drivers at continued risk.
Component/system: windshield. Description of the issue: my 2023 Hyundai Palisade’s windshield developed a small crack, which has progressively spread into a longer line over time. The crack appeared without any significant external impact, raising concerns about the overall quality and durability of the windshield. Safety risk: the growing crack reduces visibility and compromises the structural integrity of the windshield, potentially putting my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk. Reported/confirmed by dealer: I reported the issue to my Hyundai dealership, but they stated that there is no recall or warranty coverage for this problem. Inspection status: the dealership acknowledged the issue but did not provide any solutions, leaving me to seek independent repair options. I have not yet involved an independent service center, insurance, or other third parties for inspection. Symptoms prior to failure: there were no warning signs or indicators before the crack appeared. It developed suddenly and unexpectedly, despite regular vehicle use under normal conditions. Additional information: upon researching online, I discovered numerous complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners regarding the poor quality of the windshield. This pattern suggests a potential manufacturing defect that Hyundai has not yet addressed.
My windshield appears to be extremely prone to rock chips and cracks. My vehicle is available for inspection. My Hyundai is only a year old and has several rock chips and a large crack in the windshield. This is now beginning to affect the visibility through my windshield. The problem has not been reported to the dealer but it will be on my next service appointment. Im pretty confident that the dealer will tell me to contact my insurance. The problem has not been reported to anyone at this time. My other vehicles do not have this problem and they are a lot older than my Hyundai.
I was driving along the feeder road entering the on-ramp of the highway, going about 45 mph, when I heard a loud explosion coming from inside my vehicle. I was obviously startled and my first thought was maybe my kids left a soda bottle in the car and the pressure caused the bottle to explode. It was then I noticed broken glass all over the interior of my vehicle, as well as on my person. It was a clear, sunny day, about 75 degrees, so no extreme weather. There were no vehicles ahead of me, behind me or on either side of me. When I got to a stopping point, I searched my vehicle thoroughly thinking something must have come through the glass and shattered it. But I found nothing in my vehicle that would have come from outside and caused this to happen. While taking photos of everything, I noticed the glass that was left appeared to be bowed upwards instead of inward. It was then I realized whatever happened did not come from outside of my vehicle. I started looking things up online and realized the "exploding sunroof" was actually a very common issue happening to many other people's vehicles. Why a recall on this serious safety issue has not been issued is baffling. I could have been in an accident due to the startling nature of the incident, I could have been cut with shards of glass. Thank god my children were not in the car with me at the time as most of the glass went to the back seats where they would have been sitting. Prior to this happening there were no issues with my sunroof and no obvious warning signs of its impending explosion. I truly hope a recall is issued soon before someone is seriously injured, or worse.
The sunroof exploded. Nothing hit the sunroof. Glass shattered and some came down inside the vehicle. Was driving in the neighborhood to get gas, no cars, no trees overhead. Could have gotten glass shards in my eyes or injured a passenger should one have been in the vehicle. Dealership has not acknowledged it was spontaneous. They are turning it into Hyundai to check coverage. No warning was given by the vehicle.
When driving the car normally suddenly there was an extremely loud sound above us. After pulling off the road and inspecting the vehicle we saw that the front sunroof had shattered. Fortunately the bottom cover had been closed else the glass would have fallen on the driver and passengers and very well could have caused an accident and/or injuries. The remaining glass was bowed upwards and there wasn't any foreign objects inside the roof. At the time of the incident there were no other vehicles around us nor were we under any trees or highway structure. We brought the car to the dealer who claimed that something must have impacted the sunroof however that is not the case. The sunroof glass spontaneously just shattered without any warning. There had been no cracks or chips in the sunroof glass at the time.
