1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

First we heard what we thought was making a belt loose driving down the road in our local area of denver, then suddenly acceleration was not happening. Giving it gas and nothing. Check engine light came on. Made it home, thank goodness as acceleration was intermittent( and nothing over 25mph) but immediately had it towed to mechanic. Mechanic fixed one sensor and more problems arose. He felt it should be a warranty item but surprisingly its not. Now he thinks the resolve will be in the form of replacing the engine as he's run every other diagnostic test he could.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

I was driving my vehicle at rate of speed of 75-80 mph on the interstate in considerable traffic. I began to reach slowed traffic and pressed my brake to slow down, when I did the engine completely stalled putting myself and my children in grave danger as we were surrounded by vehicles also going at 75-80 mph. No warning lights proceeded this happening. I was able to get my vehicle restarted and off the highway, still no alert lights appeared. I checked all belts, hoses, fluids and nothing appeared wrong. At a later stop, 316 miles from the initial incident, to refuel, the engine began clicking as I pulled off from the fueling station. I stopped again and checked all components and fluids, which all checked out ok. I tried to reenter the highway in hopes of getting closer to home when the engine again stalled. I pulled off the highway and got a hotel room and called Hyundai to state this was the problem stated in their recall. They have been very resistant to help, even refusing to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. They are also refusing any reimbursements without signing a release of liability waiver that states I "release hma from any liability with respect to any claim that hma failed to conform the vehicle to warranty in connection with your concerns and the vehicle's repair history to date. You also acknowledge that any such concerns have been resolved as of the date of signing this letter. " to date, nothing has been done other than the dealership looking at the vehicle and stating the vehicle is covered by the recall. No work has been started! I will gladly provide letter if requested!.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

I was driving the vehicle to work and the engine stops and all the dash lights are on. The vehicle will not even turn over let alone start. I had aaa tow the vehicle to my house and after putting a wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt and physically trying to turn the motor over I realized the motor is seized. I had noticed after draining my oil during all the prior oil changes, the vehicle was losing oil. There is no signs of the engine leaking oil externally so it has to be an internal malfunction on the engine. Knowing this I would check and add oil as needed between y oil changes. The engine had plenty of oil before and after the engine failed. Something was wrong with my engine from day one from the factory. I guarantee this engine failed because of the factory that assembled the engine.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

There are two separate incidents where I experienced complete engine failure in my sante fe sport 2. 0t. Invoice number 359131 first occurred at 47,031 miles. On February 16, 2017 I was driving my vehicle with my son on the freeway when the check engine light appeared and my vehicle began jerking and making a loud clicking tapping sound slowing me down almost immediately. I lost power in my steering, vehicle was hard to maneuver. Hyundai attempted to repair the problem returned my vehicle and charged me partially for repair. Made contact with them about repair being a misdiagnosis as they first blamed the incident on air filter, serpentine belt, spark plugs, fuel injector cleaning, they replaced my fuel pump and engine block at no cost but charged me the other items. Work order number 201868 the second incident occurred at 50,897 miles on July 14, 2017 I was traveling across states from el paso, texas to colorado springs, colorado with my 5 yr old son and my husband. We were traveling north on highway I-25 when our vehicle began to lose power and starting making the loud vibrations and tapping sounds like it had done the first time about 3,000 miles ago when I had the engine replaced. We were over taking a semi truck on the road when this happened we were barely able to recover our lane and pull off to the side of the road as we slowed down almost immediately the semi was able to brake and avoid rear ending us. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere about an hour away from alburquerque, new mexico. This was terrifying for my family and I. We had very little time to react and find a safe place to pull over. I believe my vehicle was not inspected properly through their quality control personnel. If there is debris inside my engine and it has continuously presented itself it will eventually travel through the rest of my engine ex. Turbo seals bearings.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2016

My check engine light came on in my Hyundai on Saturday. The next day, Sunday, I took my Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2013 to the car repair for a diagnostic. The tech said the codes were related to a timing belt and that we could drive it short distances and bring it back later before closing (5pm) because the repair mechanic would not be in until Monday. On the same day, Sunday, we drove to pick up a rental car so that my huyndai could go back to the shop for the mechanic on Monday. While driving to the car rental, we pulled into the car rental parking lot and my Hyundai just stopped/shut down while driving. It would not turn back over. I called a tow truck to have it towed back to the car repair. The next day, Monday, the car repair called and told me that my engine had seized and that a new engine would have to be purchased. I had my Hyundai towed again on that same day to Hyundai service center for a second opinion and they said something about my camshaft and that the engine had seized and that a new engine would have to be purchased. My Hyundai had just had a tune-up and it had oil in it. We checked the oil on Saturday. A brand new car with regular oil changes and maintenance does not just decide to go kaput! I am thankful that we were not driving on a highway and that we did not lose our lives on that Sunday.
