I was driving on the interstate and the car just shut down.
I was driving down the interstate and the engine shut off. My luck after looking into this my VIN does not meet the recall for the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 2. 0t. But the dealer who sold me the car will gladly take my money for an engine replacement.
Takata recall. We were driving on a state hwy at 55mph and starting to hear a knock from the engine. In the year and a half of owning the vehicle there were no issues. No indicator of issues or anything. We even had it serviced 2 weeks prior and there were no problems. Within a 2 mile span of the knock starting the vehicle engine seized and shut down. Fortunately, no one was behind us because there was nowhere safe to pull over to for about 1/8mile so we coasted and crept at about 5mph to a driveway where we then were towed to a safer location. No lights or indicators came on until the moment the vehicle shut down. Apparently, this is common with 2013 model Hyundai Santa Fe sport engines after discussing it with their customer service representative.
Was driving for an hour on the highway and just after I took an exit and was driving about 60km/hr my car shutdown and I had to come to a rolling stop off the side of the road, lights came on the dash, and I was unable to start the car again. Initial thoughts was the alternator as it was a hit day with the a/c full on. Then I had the vehicle towed an hour to a local shop, who informed me that the engine had blown up.
While driving straight down a busy city street at about 35 mph, the engine stopped and the car shut off without warning. I was nearly hit by a passing car when I stepped out of the vehicle. It would not start again. I was towed to the local Hyundai dealer who said the engine needed to be replaced. They also said it is still under warranty with just 40,000 miles, but that Hyundai may not cover the replacement/repair. The authorized dealer was required to send a detailed description and photographs to Hyundai for them to determine if they would honor the warranty or not. I did receive an engine recall notice and had it inspected. I'm baffled as to why Hyundai may not pay for it.
Accelerating from 0 to 50 miles per hour onto route 50 ( major highway), going west bound, the card shut off completely. The vehicle was in motion, pressure was applied to the accelerator and the car shut off. I had to pull off the road to safely. I believe the issue was caused when I tried to accelerate. The car reacted to acceleration and started to go, but then froze up, and died. I call a dealer in preston, MD and they said if might be a recall issue. Got the car towed to them for analysis. After speaking with the dealer today, the 22nd, they said it appears it is an engine replacement. They are reaching out to Hyundai for assistance.
My husband was driving and car shut off on him, while in motion, and wasnt able to be restarted. It had to be towed to an auto shop where they told us the engine needs to be replaced. No warning light ever came on to indicate engine problems.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle shut off and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later towed to larson Hyundai (7601 s tacoma way, tacoma, wa 98409, 253-474-0621) where the technician stated that a diagnostic test would be done and the results would be sent to the manufacturer for advice. The contact made the manufacturer aware of the failure and stated that the dealer did not properly handle the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling) last December. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 103,176.
