3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 04/18/2020

Drivers chest seat belt is loose and the sensor in the seat belt you snap and lock it in place makes the "air bag" light for the driver only come on. Ive had it diagnosed and checked by a licensed mechanic, and was told the seat belt is defected, and currently, as long as the "air bag" light remains on, even if they turned it off, the drivers air bag would not deploy if impacted hard enough in vehicle collision. The air bag is okay and in working condition, its the sensors in the seat belts in the driver's seat that are out of date. The "red light" remains on from the time I start the vehicle and its in psrk, idking, moving, up until we are back idking, and the engingevis off.

4 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/05/2019

On Dec 5, 2019 at 7:50 am, I was stopped at a red light waiting to turn west at a city intersection. When the light turned green, I accelerated and drove towards the middle of the intersection. There was no oncoming traffic, so I continued and was about to make a left turn when I got hit by 2018 Ford escape. The driver ran the red light and hit my vehicle in the front drivers side quarter panel, causing visible damage to my fender, wheel, panel and bumper (more damage will be determined by insurance adjuster). The impact was so hard that it moved my car, pushing the front end of my car towards east of the intersection. I had my two children and my dog in the car. The airbags did not deploy, at all. The other vehicle hit us head on and their airbags did deploy. My head and upper body slammed into the drivers side window. Everyone in my car had their seatbelt on and my dog was tied, by his leash, to an anchor in the back. The impact to my head was so hard, I went to the er and they did a CT scan to make sure there were no fractures or bleeding. I was diagnosed with a concussion due to the impact. I am attaching photos of the scene and the damage to my vehicle.

5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 11/13/2019

My airbag light came on and stayed on just before the 60k mile warranty expired. I called the dealership and was advised to bring it in to the dealership because the airbags might not deploy if we were in an accident. They said it just needed to be reset. Well, at just over 62k miles, it came back on this morning. A quick google search indicates it is a known problem across Hyundai's entire fleet of vehicles. How has this not already been addressed?! I have 4 kids and cannot take the chance of the airbags not deploying.

6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/25/2019

We were hit head on by a large pickup truck. We sustained a lot of damage from this head-on collision. We were traveling around 10 miles an hour but the other car was going at least 20 miles an hour. The airbags never deployed despite being hit head on and suffering a lot of damage upon impact. We were slowing down for a stop sign. The other car turned into our lane and was accelerating towards us.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 04/25/2018

The vehicle was stationary stopped in a line of traffic on an exit ramp. Another vehicle, traveling at high speed, failed to notice traffic was stopped and struck my vehicle from behind. The force of the impact caused heavy damage to my rear bumper, bent the frame and crumpled the rear passenger side quarter panel, etc. It also launched my vehicle diagonally into the guard rail causing heavy damage to my front bumper and driver side quarter panel, etc. The impact launched me forward and my face smashed into the steering wheel, breaking my nose, injuring my eye socket, causing a concussion and whiplash in my neck. I was wearing my seat belt. The air bags never deployed. Had the airbags deployed, it may have saved my face and preventing other injuries.

9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/20/2018

I was in an accident traveling approx 20mph on a city street when I hydroplaned and hit a stationary light pole head on. My frontal air bag never deployed. My head struck the windshield, created significant winshield damage. The over all damage to the front end, winshield, front end under the car damage that resulted in the car being totaled out. My concern is that my frontal driver side airbags never deployed.

10 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/03/2017

My airbags were defective. I was in a car accident, and the airbags did not deploy. After the accident, I was taken to the hospital to treat multiple bodily injuring, which could have been prevented if the airbag had deployed. I was driving in town when the accident occurred. I overshot a turn and hit a poll on the left side of the car. The car flipped and was totaled. Again, no airbags were deployed. I have included pictures of the car after the accident. My main concern is the issue with the airbags. I feel as though these should have worked properly and that I am fortunate enough that the accident was not any worse, as more serious injuries could have then occurred.

14 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

Air bag light keeps coming on and off(every day , several times on a 30-45 mins drive ) on dashboard as I am driving on regular basis . . Seems like airbag won't deploy while light is on , and if there is an accident and light is on I think the driver airbag will not deploy . Hyundai dealers already know the issue and apparently is a bad electric connection on the seat belt click that needs to be replace . . . They are willing to "diagnose it" for $125 . . But many people says the cost of repair is $490 . They wont acknowledge is a defect on the wiring and want people to pay for it . Is very scary driving knowing that my airbag may not deploy.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/28/2017

Driving in the far left lane on the interstate at roughly 55 mph I attempted to avoid a drifting car as I corrected the steering wheel and accelerator failed to respond. As a result I struck a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the interstate. The airbags in the other vehicle deployed. The airbags in my vehicle did not deploy. The front end collision was bad enough that the SUV was declared a total loss. The adjuster also found that the firewall had split and appeared to be faulty. Due to the airbags not deploying during the collision I suffered a concussion and various other injuries as well as loss of hours at work, loss of pay, medical bills and expenses in addition to owning money on my car loan as the insurance did not cover the cost of the loan.

24 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/25/2014

This vehicle was involved in a recall, Hyundai states there is nothing wrong with airbags, after successfully proving the passenger side airbags were faulty as defined by the bbb, I was offered $800 fort car that blue books around 10-12k. Since the law firm in charge of the class action only provided for themselves, there were no further steps I could take. October accident car was hit by another vehicle at a high rate of speed head on and the drivers side airbags did not deploy. There is something seriously strong with this car.

25 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

Air bag red light on failed to turn off after first starting the engine (normally it would turn off after about 5 secs after starting the engine) and remained on at regular driving speeds. It never went off regardless of speeds ranging from 0 (standing still) to 70 mph (the latter speed on interstate highway). It never went off regardless of whether or not a person was in the passenger seat. I took the car to the dealership, where it was purchased. After diagnostic tests, I was told by the service representative the problem was a bad sensor in the passenger's seat, and it would cost about $2,600. 00 to fix it. Since the seat would have to be taken apart to fix the sensor, a replacement seat would probably have to be ordered, thus the high cost. . I was also told that since the airbag light now remains on, the air bag system is no longer functional and the airbags will not deploy as designed. I did not elect to fix the sensor because of the expense and also needing to fix the air conditioner, which cost over $600. 00. I am now driving a vehicle without a functional airbag system.

28 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

We bought this vehicle in June 2013. We had it almost a month when the steering locked up on me. The power steering pressure line blew out. We took it to the dealer that we bought it from and they fixed the line. Three days later the steering went again we got it to the dealership and they were going to charge us $300. 00. I got upset but the most they would do for me was split the cost. Then a few months later I started to smell gas. I didn't see any thing on the ground so I left it go. Then in November 2013 the air bag light came on and also the seat belt light would come on and go off and the bell would ding as if the seat belt wasn't buckled but it was. I just had it tested by a Hyundai dealer and the mechanic said that there was a defective sensor in the seat belt assembly that causes the airbag light to come on and the seat belt light and bell to go off. The mechanic also said that there is a leak somewhere in the gas tank. The whole repair will cost me about $2000. 00 to have repaired and I don't have that kind of money. If the sensor is not replaced he said the air bag will probably not deploy in a frontal collision. There should be a recall on the sensor at least because that shouldn't be suject to wear and tear.
