While traveling @ 50 mph, remove foot from accelerator and car failed to slow. Depressed brake an car still failed to slow. Turned key to off and pulled to side of road to full stop. Restarted engine an it again over accelerated so turned it off. Depressed accelerator several times and restarted, drove to work area to have inspection of problem.

2 Fail To Slow Down problem of the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/28/2012

The contact owns a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle unexpectedly increased acceleration. The brake pedal was applied repeatedly; however failed to reduce speed and crashed into the proceeding vehicle. There were no personal injuries and a police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the front end bumper and was not towed. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
