Hyundai Santa Fe owners have reported 3 problems related to power steering fluid (under the steering category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Hyundai Santa Fe based on all problems reported for the Santa Fe.
The vehicle was moving about 35mph on a street when the power steering high pressure line failed, we were traveling on a straight road and by the time I heard the whining of the pump, the power steering fluid had leaked out and of course we lost power steering. The failure was due to corrosion of the the metal pipe where the it couples to the flexible hose from the pump. Fortunately this only resulted in having to drive home without power steering. The high pressure line was replace by a local shop. The vehicle has 67k miles on it and has not been used in any extreme corrosive environment. I contacted Hyundai to report this as well, waiting for a response.

Subframe/engine cradle rot to point of separation, loss of steering and vehicle control. My newly licensed grand-daughter took it for a short about town drive, not getting more than a quarter mile before the wheel snapped out of her hands and the vehicle headed for the center line. She managed to get it to the side of the road. Both front wheels were in different directions, movement forward was sloppy. Aweful noises coming from below. Fluids leaking. I knew there was rust underneath but not such greatly weakened parts. Img_6087. Jpg.

I bought a used 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe with 71,500 mile, seemed in good condition when I paid for it, don't know much about the previous owner's maintenance history. About 1000 miles later this hiss/rattle sound came from the engine as I was driving it, I also noticed when making turns a rubbing sound came from the steering that got worse as the turning angles got more acute, and I began to notice a small leak of reddish fluid I thought may be transmission fluid (turns out to be powering steering fluid). Took it in to the local Hyundai dealer who told me that the power steering return hose line was corroded/leaking. They charged me $250 to fix it. The fix corrected all three observations. . .
