Recently suddenly airbag light came on and it now stays on all the time after starting the car. When I start the car, it blinks once and then remain lit. I used the code reader to get the codes and it gave two codes for airbag system, b1102 and b1448. On further googling, the 1st code indicates low input voltage and 2nd one indicates passenger occupant detecting system fault. Now I am concerned to use the car as the air bag system is turned off .
Air bag light on drivers side dash has come on for no reason and is staying illuminated. Passenger side sensor that shows a person is sitting in the seat without a belt on is flashing. Both occurred at the same time. Seems like a recurrent problem that the manufacturer won't deal with due to the numerous similar complaints read online.
My airbag light is illuminated and seat belt light blinks on the passenger side. It seems to be a known problem with the Hyundai Sonata. Dealer needs to recall the passenger seat/faulty sensor for the safety of the passengers.
Air bag light came on in the dash at approx 86,600 miles; for no apparent reason. Also noticed that the passenger seat belt sign near the center console is flashing even if there is no one seated in the passenger seat.
My 2006 Sonata only has 65,000 miles. But the airbag light always on from this year and brake line was rust. For the airbag, the light in dashboard is on when car starting, and the passanger airbag is off even if someone sitting on passanger seat. For the brake, the front brake line was rusted last year and all the brake oil is totally leak out, so there is no brake when driving it. And the rear brake line is broken this year due to rust. I am in freeway when the rear brake leaks, so image how terriable it is. Never seen this from other 10 year old vehicles.
Airbag light on for a couple years.
Takata recall. . We've owned this car since November, 2015. About 2 months ago the red airbag light appeared on dashboard and has remained red whenever the ignition is on.
My airbag light and passenger wear belt light came one even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. The car had never been involved in an accident so I don't know why the air bag light came on.
My airbag light randomly came on last week and has not gone off since. I have never had any lights on my dash board illuminate. The mechanics are quoting ridiculous prices to fix it and I am nervous to drive it with the light on.
Airbag light came on for no reason.
First, oil is leaking on alternator and area around, car needs a valve cover gasket, driver airbag light stays on, passenger sun visor wont stay up, the vehicle has 149000 miles on it. There are to many complaints for these subjects, a recall needs to be issued.
It has been a year since the air bags light been on in the dashboard. I did not have time to take it to Hyundai dealership.
Air bag light comes on the dash. Have tried to reset by pulling the fuse as well as disconnecting the battery for 2-5 minutes, but to light comes right back on.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the electronic stability control indicator illuminated without warning. In addition, the rear passenger side brake light failed to illuminate after being replaced several times. Furthermore, the air bag indicator illuminated without warning. Ken garth Hyundai (10770 auto mall drive, sandy, utah 84070) was made aware of the failures and requested that a diagnostic be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was unknown.
Air bag light in instrument panel remains on at all times. Esc indicator turns off at random times while driving. Rear suspension knocks when fuel tank is low (I. E. Near empty).
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, in the night time, the head lights had not illuminate. The contact stated that the check engine and air bag indicators had illuminated. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that it was a evap and O2 sensor that was needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. In addition, the contact stated on another day the abs indicator had illuminated, causing the brake lights not to illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. Kc.
I wish to make a complaint on the safety operation of this car. Since it was bought new from sansone auto mall the air bag light has come on 4 times and now a 5th time in may of 2015. The air bag light on the instrument cluster always points to the seat belt buckle on the drivers seat. Every time we take it to Hyundai they have no concern of the issue even though we complain. They say there is nothing they can do except replace the seat belt buckle assembly. They will not warranty anything. Also talked with Hyundai and they have no concern either on this safety issue. We fear the safety of not just the drive but the passengers should an accident occur and they air bags don't deploy or the seat belts work correctly. The front passenger seat cushion also became defective which had to be repaired as well. Hyundai and their dealership is charging us and average of $350. 00 each time for this issue which we believe is theirs. Apparently as we see it they have no concern for the safety of this model car series. We have to take it again for the same problem prior to motor vehicle inspection in July of 2015.
In the mid of April, I received a extended warranty letter from Hyundai for my "air bag" light that has been on. It was for the air bag light due to resistance within the connector for the front seat belt buckle. On April 27, 2015 I scheduled my first appointment at savannah Hyundai. On invoice it stated: 135681 check and found history codes b1701 drivers seat buckle pretensioner resistance high b176 passenger seat buckle resistance clear codes no codes reset. I was told the problem was fixed. As I drove off the service lot, my air bag light went back on. On may 4, 2015, I went in for another diagnosis and was told that they needed my car to stay at the shop and they gave me a rental. They said they needed to send my seat off to be fixed. It was a few days that they had my car. On that invoice it stated: check air bag system for codes b1701 and b1706 driver and passenger front seat belt buckle pretensioner resistance high found service bullentin 15be002 install tie strap on driver and passenger seat belt buckle pretensioner connectors. On June 22, 2015 I came in savannah Hyundai once again because my air bag light warning came back on. I was told that my warranty was already extended was no longer under warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket if I wanted to fix this problem with my car. Which I had the extended warranty and had no idea why they were fighting with me with this. Fix the safety issue! on invoice it was noted that the TSB for pretensioner connectors were already performed and that the vehicle needs passenger buckle pretensioner and the TSB does not mention any warranty covering the replacement, only the zip tie installation. I called corporate and on may 29, 2015, they ordered the passenger seat buckle pretensioner and supposedly they fixed the issue. Today is July, 15, 2015 and my air bag warning lamp is on once again. I am very disappointed.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact started that vehicle and the front passenger's side air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously with an occupant present. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three separate occasions and serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 08v161000 (air bags ) however, the remedy was insufficient. After the most recent repair the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,700. Js.
I have been getting an airbag light on my dash. The problem was traced to the drivers' side seat belt. This is odd since I only have 67,000 on the car, and probably less than 10,000 on the car with a passenger.
The airbag light is on. The shop said it has to do with the drivers seat pretensioner circuit. In reading for issues, I found that the issue may be covered by warrant of 15 yrs or 250,000 as agreed by Hyundai to have you close your investigation. I have called Hyundai regarding your case NHTSA action number: pe14023. This case was closed because Hyundai said they would extend the warranty - I am calling the Hyundai service department - they say they don't know anything about this agreement. In reading the web for complaints about Hyundai, it looks like they are not recognizing this agreement with anyone.
My 2006 Hyundai Sonata's air bag light stays on. I took it to dealership. They said the problem is due to faulty passenger seat belt tensioner. This matches the description stated in NHTSA action number: pe14023. This investigation was closed because Hyundai will extend the warranty to 15 years or 250k miles. My Hyundai dealership does not honor this warranty because they did not get notice from corporate. I called Hyundai customer connect center 1-855-671-3059 with this issue and provided the NHTSA case number. I talked to a agent and his supervisor and his supervisor. Neither acknowledge the existence of this NHTSA action number: pe14023. They said I had to repair this on my own cost. I am surprised to hear that Hyundai just ignores the authority of NHTSA especially on the airbag issue. I have recorded the phone conversation with both supervisors for reference.
Since purchasing my car new in 2006, I have had to have the passenger side seat belt buckle replaced twice. First on oct 6, 2010, then on oct 25, 2013. Both times it was related to the air bag light illuminating on the dashboard and staying on consistently. In 2010, I was told it was a faulty seat belt part. Hyundai replaced it under warranty. In 2013, I was again told it was an issue with the same seat belt part, and this time I was charged $164. 31 for the replacement. This week, the air bag light came on again. I can only assume it's, once again, a faulty seat belt buckle. I called the dealership who did the previous repair (davis Hyundai in NJ) and they said it was only covered under warranty for 12 months. . So I would have to pay for the replacement again. I googled the issue and it seems to be under investigation by your group. It's clearly a safety issue. . I don't think I should have to pay to have it fixed again, and really I think Hyundai should reimburse me for the first repair. If they can't figure out how to make a seat belt buckle that functions properly, they have no business making cars. Any help would be hugely appreciated. I planned to go through the bbb as well, but wanted to add to the number of complaints filed. I have records of all previous repairs.
Air bag light on at driver side- Hyundai says it is caused by passenger side seat buckle. Dealer and Hyundai corporate office says this is not covered under NHTSA action number pe14023. Unless I am reading NHTSA action number pe14023 incorrectly I think it should be??? concerned about driving now.
Air bag light on the dash illuminated. Brought it to a mechanic and they said it was a faulty sensor in the seat belt latch.
The airbag light on the dashboard came on at approx. 101,550 miles and has remained on since. Mileage now at 102,049. Light remains on regardless on if there is a passenger seated or not. Please advise status on a recall for this defect which by all the readings complaints noted on line, is for sure an issue.
I notice the air bag light stays on. I took it to the Hyundai dealer with in a week to have it fixed they said I would have to pay to get it fix. They told me that it was something in the seat belt connection and it was electroanal or some kind of sensor to turn the light off. So I asked will the air bag still work if I was in a accident? they said no because its not making the right connection to turn off the light and activate the airbag. So thats the only car I have to go from home to work and back or for anything else. So what am I to do? thank you.
I started having issues with my air bag light coming on intermittently two years ago at about 55,000 miles. I brought it in to the dealer for a corrosion recall and spoke with them about the air bag light. They told me if it stays on solid then return and they will look into it for me. I probably could have had it repaired at that point had they looked into it further. So now light is on all the time, took it in today and it is "seat belt buckles" that is causing issue, repair is 700 dollars and need my car for at least 4-5 days. I am guessing it will take another class action law suit to have Hyundai stand behind their product again and issue recalls for it's customers. I called corporate and inquired about investigations into making this a recall but obviously didn't get anywhere. The service department informed me that the air bags do not work now at all. I saw many other similar complaints about this issue, Hyundai obviously does not have the satisfaction or the safety of their customers as a priority.
My 2006 Hyundai Sonata air bag light illuminated on my dash. I took my car into the dealer on 12/9/15 and after a $120 diagnosis fee was told that I needed to replace the seat belt buckle and that the cost would be near $500. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to replace the part and was told that my air bags will not work. I have seen many more complaints about this same problem. This is a safety issue and there should be a recall for this issue!.
Driving along, and the airbag light illuminated. Dealer says drivers side seat belt buckle failed and now, airbag light remains illuminated, possible failure of airbags.
I purchased this vehicle not even a week ago and the air bag light came on Nov. 25,2014.
Air bag sensor frequently mistakes an adult for a child and turns off. In addition, the air bag light has been on for at 3 years. Auto had about 125000 miles when thge air bag light came on. Took the car to a dealer and they informed me I would have to pay well over $1,000 to repair the air bag sensor in the passenger side seat. Instead, I bought black tape to cover the air bag light. I thought this safety defect woulh have been recalled by now. Apparently, none of the airbags will deploy in an accident. This does not make sense, given the remaining airbag sensors mosdt likely work. I am the original owner of things car.
Air bag light on. This is a continuing issue with this vehicle. This is a safety issue and I feel it should be repaired not at my expense. Contacted dealer and also contacted Hyundai customer assistance center. I was told that there was a previous recall but the vehicle is out of warranty it has to be repaired again at my expense. I feel that this being a safety issue, Hyundai should take care of their customers.
Air bag light came on. Had the vehicle sent in to dealership last year for the same problem. Car is in great condition do not know why the light keeps coming up. A recall needs to be initiated to fix the problem once and for all. This could be a potential danger for my kids.
Airbag light came on one day and just never went off. No accidents or damage to the car had been done prior. Went to other mechanics and they couldn't even figure out what the code on their diagnostic machines was. Hyundai checked it and told me it was the passenger buckle canister. That's fine, but 400,000 of these in the 06-08 Sonata models have now "failed" and at $100 for a diagnostics, then another $250 for a belt buckle repairs, I don't see how this could be wear and tear in the vehicle. Just seems like easy money for Hyundai. Hope this gets resolved soon.
