general problems of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata - part 2

The connection between the brake light and the socket is very poor and the motion of the vehicle often causes them to go out. I have replaced the bulbs and sockets multiple times and I find myself routinely conducting this same repair. This is a safety issue as functioning brake lights are a crucial safety feature for night time driving. I have had this issue diagnosed and repaired by an auto service professional a year ago and I am still having the same problem recur. No warning lights come on when the brake lights fail so I am required to routinely check them myself.

Driving down highway the car just stopped going. The steering wheel got increasingly harder to turn. Once on side of road, I noticed a bunch of the warning lights lit up the dashboard. I turned off the car and tried turning it back on, however, it would just make a weird clicking noise and not start. I scheduled an appointment with a Hyundai dealership, so I’m not sure what is wrong with car.

My husband took car to rainbow city, al location to have some recalls fixed. 2wks later we go to pick up the car & as we go to to leave, me following behind him, I noticed passenger brake light out. I call & tell him, then I notice the middle brake light isn’t going off at all- it’s staying lit. I then notice, when he adjusted the headlights the passenger brake light came on & driver side brake light went off. But middle brake light wasn’t going off, it continued to stay on. I looked it up & it’s a known issue with this model. I then look up for any further recalls and yes there are but my VIN isn’t attached to this recall as it obviously should be. We took it back to dealer & call then go rounds with them and they blame it to be cold weather, absurd, but looking into this issue it could result in an accident if driving because I nearly rear ended my husband not knowing if he was on the brakes or not on his way back to the dealership service center. I also know if the car recognizes the brakes to be pressed while actually driving it could easily jump out of gear! being that the lights no matter if altering sides when on stated off as if someone we’re staying on the brakes. This needs to be added to your recall listing immediately! I’m afraid of driving it! All the lights appear os dash. Tpms, taction control, maintenance check engine, , brake malfunction message power steering light. Car start beeping alarm. Transmision weard beheaving. Brakes weard, acceleration. Scare moments, stop the car. Dangerous driving. After 5 mjnutes problem desapear and afret 10 more milles problem appear again. Bring car to the dealer February 10th for diagnostic they charge 457. 38 dolars fr diagnostic. Almost a month after they found anything nothing. Feel robbed by dealer.

Was driving fine for a few minutes, made a stop at a light then when I proceed to make my left turn, my steering wheel was completely hard to turn. A light eps came on right away and I was able to move forward but made it completely hard to turn towards my destination. Drive my car home at 10 mph I could not steer my steering wheel.

On my 2011 Hyundai Sonata both of my brake light bulbs and wiring caught fire and started smoking from the inside of my trunk. I have notified Hyundai of this and they refused to do anything about it even though it is an extremely dangerous issue that Hyundai should fix free of charge!!!!! now I have no brake lights on my vehicle because of this !!!!!!.

Start losing speed cutting back overheating ac stop function then smoke from good and cut out had it towed and seek what the problem is this occur on 08/24/2021 just purchase on July 7,2021 from dealer in auto land of thornburg paid cash.

Well my break lights keep burning out the whole harness and light part were the bulbs go burns and melted the harness completely on both sides I have had to replace them twice for both break lights the satellite antenna on the roof of the car is completely out and doesn’t get a signal the key keeps getting stuck in the ignition where the battery had to be disconnected to remove it.

The taillight socket is melting disabling the effective use of the brake system to alert other drivers the vehicle is stopping. The light works but can not be reinserted into the given space because it has melted close on the tailight cause my entire tail light to have to be replaced. The light bulb then melted into the trunk space and could have caused a fire but luckily we smelled it and moved the placement. I have almost been rear ending multiple times cause long the oncoming driver to swerve off the road to avoid hitting me because they were not able to see I was stopped. I have been stopped by law enforcement and given a warning thankfully. I have sent a complaint to Hyundai and have seen multiple complaints and myself seen multiple Sonatas on the road with no tail light/brake light issues. My dealer wants to charge over $600-1000 to repair this imperative issue. There was no indication they were malfunctioning until they had melted into the socket. On both lights. I have read multiple complaints on this same issue. This is an important part of the car that needs to be fixed for driver safety.

I almost got into an accident on the highway with my family when returning home with my family my car started to sputter and the check engine light started blinking the car wouldnt accelerate on the highway almost got into an accident with a truck. My family and I was terrified. I took it to autozone they notified me its an problem with my engine, rod bearings, the representative ,informed me alot of Sonatas have came in with the same issue. That occurance reminded me on the letter I received few months back informing me on a national recall. I truly need assistance fixing my car ive lost days from work due to my transportation not working properly. Please help.

Headlights have burnt out 4 times in 1 year w/install, break/tail lights have burnt out 6 times in 1 year w/ install. Cruise control isn't staying set and airbag light is on unknown reason after obd scan. Break lights have burnt thru the connection piece, causing damage, overpower from the wiring harness has caused over load of power which caused lights to burn out and even burst. Multiple drivers with similar problems, airbag may still deploy for no reason or not deploy at all. Cruise control malfunction possibly due to airbag issues, but may also be from faulty wiring throughout the vehicle and ultimately into the sterring console. Computer or motherboard may also now have damages cause by over amped volts of electricity without a serge protecter. Possibility of electrical damages, caused by overload from power supply and directed throught the vehicle may have cause exponential damages to electrical in the Sonata. Causing a serious safety concern and hazard. Exterior lighting requires new wiring harnesses and connection pieces as well as new casing from over amp overload, resulting in overheating and bulb combustion damages. New airbag assembly is probable and reset of mother board with upgraded features and completely new wiring with serge protection is necessary.

I was driving approximately 55 mph on a highway and it started raining. I turned my headlights on and the traction control light came on. I also lost acceleration power until I completely let off the gas pedal. This has happened several times over the last month. I also am unable to set the cruise control if my headlights are on.

Radio went completely out. Head lights and tail light always going out.

Total loss of car due to engine fire. On Dec 30,2020 at mile marker 31 on i95 south outside of stoney creek va, when I was driving, all lights came on the dashboard at the same time-then we lost ability to accerleate-gas pedal not working. We pulled over on the side of i95-smoke came out of engine and within 10 minutes the entire car was engulfed in flames.

I had transmission problems my transmission stop working and I could not change gears so I took my car to Hyundai shop and paid out of pocket over $900 and come to found out it was a recall #123,so Hyundai call me after I left the shop saying they not gone reimburse me which is not right.

As I was driving my car's engine started to smoke and within 2 minutes the fire started.

Started to drive on a highway, vehicle cut off in motion. It will not turn back on anymore.

My car changed to cruise control on its own. I couldn't get out of it until I parked. My lights don't work the constantly flick on and off while I'm driving. The dealership also failed to replace my airbag deployment sensor after I reported that they never fixed it. They put it in the database that it was repaired but I was still waiting on a part I never received.

I am consistently having to replace my tail and brake lights on both the driver and passenger side every 2-6 months. I just replaced the bulbs in July and now in September, they're bad again. But now even with new bulbs in, the tail lights do not work but the brake lights do. I am also having an issue with the interior dome light not turning off while set on the "door" setting with all doors closed. For this, I have checked the door jamb switch and the inside of the dome light switch and there are no obvious causes for this issue. I'm not sure if these light problems are connected or not, but the dome light worked perfectly fine until I replaced my tail/brake light bulbs yesterday and discovered that they aren't working at all.

All the electrical on the drivers side conti ues to fail. The blinker on the driver side only works if the headlights are on and the brake/blinker lights constantly go out even though the bulbs are fine.

Lights occasionally shut off while driving. Happens on its own but happens more often when switching on high beams. All lights shut off inside and outside car. Has happened many times since owning the car.

Having problems with my door locks. I look on forums and its a known problem. My passenger front door lock makes a loud noise, and my drivers rear door will not open from the inside or outside. Any help would be nice.

I cannot wind up both drivers and passengers seats windows on my2011 Hyundai Sonata.

Tail light burns out after being replaced. Brake lights out; got hit from rear. Window brake light came on in the middle of night while car was parked. . . I was indoors, happened to notice it while looking out house window, apparently had been on for hours until I went outside and turned key and stepped on brake pedal repeatedly. I'm concerned that there's a electrical issue.

Purchased the vehicle today and odometer reads different than reports. Report show it should 151,000 while the dash shows 92,583.

Engine has been replaced 2 times doing 65 mph on freeway loses power in addition air bag light is on when they had car for 3 weeks they gave it back and said they didn't know what was wrong with airbags I had vehicle towed there 2 days ago again and spoke to eric at palm springs Hyundai and he said they were trying to figure out problem with engine they installed and if I wanted him to diagnose airbags problems it would be a 150 diagnosis fee they had the car there the first time for 3 weeks and released it and til my daughter that they could not figure it out airbags issues are dangerous if they are not working correctly and deploy on freeway I told eric service guy this but he giggled and said it would cost 150 dollars diagnostic fee which he said they checked several months ago I lent my daughter who drives my 8 year old grandson my vehicle because I was concerned of their safety I am a cancer patient and need a vehicle to get back and forth to my doctors when I asked eric about a rental he brushed me off and said there were none available at this point I am going to call abc investigative reporters because I am at a wits end I really need help with this matter thank you steve rivera airbags also 7608986963.

My husband and I are the owners of two 2011 Hyundai Sonatas. Our complaint is based on the fact that we feel that Hyundai has either purposely or in ignorance created an inherent defect in its battery system. Over the course of the past nine years, on a number of occasions, we have had to have our batteries changed or disconnected to repair something else. Each time this happens, when the battery is disconnected or replace by an auto shop other than Hyundai, the check engine light turns on and there is an warning that the map sensor needs to be replaced. There is not enough room to clearly explain the problem here. I have, therefore, attached a letter below.

Everything worked good until I had to take my car to the dealer for knock sensor, air bag check, software update, and my engine was also part of the affected engine recall. . . Well ever since then I have had to replace my car battery a few times and now I just invested in a battery charger because now my cars battery gets drained whether or not I use it? I asked the dealer on a couple of occasions to check out why my dash and lights flicker and shut off and come back on seconds later when I turn my lights on at night? also told the service writer that I noticed this happening when I used my turn signal, because I could notice the dash lights and head beams behave erratic and most dangerously? I know I was told more than once that they could not find nothing wrong and there were no codes either? I have to disconnect my battery now because of this dangerous issue and just gets very frustrating that now I have a car that sits there in my car port more than its driven nowadays but because car prices are high I really need my car repaired so that it could work safely like it used to before. I'm afraid that my car will catch on fire because of this and just wished that Hyundai motor corporation would look into this matter more seriously and more importantly find a solution for this big safety mater. I just finally got tired of all this that I have to go through and still probably wont ever hear of a safety recall for this big problem. . .

This is the second time the left rear lamp has failed showing signs of burning. The lamp assembly was replaced by the dealership approximately 2 years ago. When the turn signal failed recently I went to change the bulb and discovered that's a socket showed signs of being burnt again.

Smell of fuel & starting issues. The car has been taken to the dealer multiple times regarding gas fumes and they could not find anything. And it is currently at a mechanic shop to for same reason. When you start the car it doesnt take long before the whole car smells like gas & the smell is so strong it is suffocating. The car is health & fire risk. Also the car sometimes doesnt want to start for days but the starter, battery, alternator all work & even the mechanic doesnt know whats wrong with it. Apperantly there is no recall & if you search online there are alot of people with same cars complaining about gas smell & starting issues. .

I parked my car after coming from work, went back out to change my brake light that was out, after I couldn't change my bulb because its toasted to the harness, I tried starting up my car which it did, but my shift lock was locked on on park and my traction control came on and I have no brake lights.

My Sonata when I'm driving turns off and I have to be pushing the ignition several times until I can turn it on. I changed the switch battery and it still does.

This vehicle has stalled on me while driving on the highway and streets. I've taken it into the shop for the problem was told the pc module is going out. The price to fix this a 2300. 00. This should be covered on a warranty. They've me told that it's not. This is a major componet for these vehicle it should be cover. This has happened several times prior. When the vehicle accelerated there is smokes for the tail pipe.

Cruise control works off and on one day it works fine and the next day it don't work! very annoying I just don't understand how something will work and then it won't work.
