The vehicle shut down on 4/23/21 while sitting at a red light on a city street and became inoperable. The battery was jumped off and some wires started smoking and the engine would not turn over. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and the battery was replaced. Once the new battery was installed, the engine lights blinked continuously, but the vehicle would not start. The starter was replaced on 4/25/21. The vehicle started and was taken for a test drive on the highway and ran for about 5 minutes before it began producing a knocking sound. The vehicle shut down again on the highway, and when it was started again, there was a loss of power and acceleration. The vehicle coasted to the driveway of the residence, then needed to be pushed back into the residence. The vehicle would not start again and made a clicking sound. Wires were also smoking again. The vehicle will be towed to a dealership on 4/26/21 for diagnostics.

I heard a ticking noise that was coming from my motor today 1/28/2021 at 7:15am while the car was parked. I drove straight to the dealership the noise would occur at when the car was idling or I my vehicle was accelerating. I arrived at the dealership at 8am. At 9 am I was informed that a bearing in motor dropped in my motor and caused metal to fun through my motor and that I would need a new motor. I bought my car brand new in 2015 and have kept up all the maintenance. The dealership told me there is not a certain reason why this has happened.

Driving down the road at 65 mph, the engine started making a ticking noise. Further down the road the ticking became knocking. This prompted the command center to tell me to turn the vehicle off immediately. The vehicle would no longer crank and was giving a camshaft sensor code. I received a recall notice 5 days later. It has now been 2 months and my motor is supposedly on back order, but coming in weekly. Hyundai seems to really be dragging there feet though they lost a lawsuit over motor issues before.

While driving home I heard a ticking sound that had sounded like the ticking when the oil gets low, but I had got the oil change done about 2 months ago. The next morning I had a important appt and while driving on the freeway there I heard the clicking turned into a very hard clanking sound while I pulled off the freeway cause it was a scary noise I went to pull over and the power surged like it was going to shut off so I immediately turned it off. After a few mins I tried to turn it on and it was making the sound still when I pressed the gas pedal it only went louder, I then turned it off and had to walk to the closest store that sold oil and walk all the way back I recently had heart surgery and I had stroke 3 weeks ago I can not be over exherding myself like this when adding the oil it made no difference the clanking sound got worsen and now I'm without a car when I have important apps to go to along with my terminally ill child there is major issues that need repaired immediately.

Mileage approx 68,000 with regular oil changes, the engine made loud clanking sounds upon startup. However, my VIN number references no recalls. Meanwhile, the long block engine in my model is no longer available or manufactured. A short block would have to be adapted. Hundyai offered a 75% of repair "good will" payment, but that was before their admission of problems with the connecting rods. I notice on your site that others have the same problem. I've had to rent a car for twelve weeks with no end in sight. The dealership would charge me at least $1600 as my 25% of the repair. Hundyai should pay 100% and reimburse me my car rental expenses. I still have no idea when the car will be repaired. It is sitting at the dealer.

Driving home from work one day at 55miles per hr my engine just stalled out and turned off , since then the engine makes a clicking sound and has lost all power , and the tires make a clicking sound when I turn.

When accelerating there is a ticking noise coming from engine. This has been happening for a while after I got the update and new wiring harness from the campaign. I'm scared to drive my car, I accelerate slowly because I get nervous it will blow up. I took this car to a Hyundai dealership and they quoted me over 500 dollars for this repair and it might not even fix it.

When the temperature is +95 the car will drive for 15 mins and an alarm sound warning you that the "hybrid system warning - safely stop and do not drive" the vehicle is not responsive and the the engine is making a cracking noise.

Took my car to (Hyundai sanota 2013 turbo) to dealer to get brake lights fixed and the steering wheel fixed acouple of years ago. . . Which was covered by my warranty the underwriter notice the paint had pealed from the front bumper and stated he will have them paint the bumper after he checked with someone they stated the other owner had bumper wrapped so Hyundai not responsible. . . Since then I've seen many of Hyundai bumbers with the same problem 🤔 #2 while driving my car last this weekend a tapping sound coming from engine so I chaged my oil. . . After I chaged the oil the I drove my car not even 2 miles and it seemed the tapping sound was getting worse. . . The oil and check engine light came on and it started knocking and shut off now my car want even start my extended warranty expired 2/2020😖.

First, my low beams quit working months ago. Bulbs are good. I even took it in to a shop to have it checked. They said they couldn't find anything and that it was an electrical issue. That makes sense since I just started having issues with the dome lights inside as well. Have to have the inside lights turned off or they will not go off. Most recently, on the highway on my way to work, my car lost power and the dash lit up with lights and I had to pull over. Started making a loud clanging noise as well. Took it to the shop again to get it looked at. They said my oil was almost gone. No oil on the dipstick. I just recently had the oil changed! should not be out of oil. They further noted that there were no signs of oil leakage anywhere. Suggested that the engine was faulty and was excessively burning oil. Not sure what I aza m supposed to do now. I have a issues with safety due to my lights not working, and a bigger issue with my engine not working properly. I need help!.

I had took the car to Dodge city KS to get the recall fixed for the engine and they said they changed the rods that where defective and as I was driving the engine started making a clicking noise and does not want to drive, shakes as I can tell nothing was fixed than I just got another recall for the fuel tube.

Driving car and it stalled and died. Engine making clucking sound. Had to tow to mechanic engine locked up. Also before engine failure car hard to start . The vehicle was in motion when died in the city.

My engine light has been on for 6 months and I had the timer sensor replaced twice. And it is still on. My car steering wheel vibrates at times. The steering wheel makes a cracking noise while parking or pulling out. Also my airbag light has been on continuous for 6 months over the steering wheel. Keep taking it to the shop and told to check recalls but my car is never listed.

The engine was replaced in 2018 on our 2012 Sonata hybrid under warranty due to contamination. Mileage was 82,,895. On 5/9/2020 while driving heard loud knocking/tapping noise (exactly like last time) along with strong smell of something burning and engine light came on. Noise continued to get louder so pulled over and had car towed to Hyundai dealer in pensacola, FL. We were told the engine would not be covered under warranty and cost to us would be appox. $5,500 for a used engine with 98,000 miles on it. We now have 107,000 miles which is appox. 24,000 on the new engine. Upon investigation we found that 470,000 2011 & 2012 Sonatas were recalled on sept. 2, 2015 after NHTSA raised the issue of engine noise and problems. It replaced engines and increased the warranty to 10 yrs or 120,000 miles. In January 2019 100,000 of these same engines were recalled again due to damaged fuel lines caused when the engines were replaced during previous recalls. Hyundai has declined our request for this to be covered under warranty because this is a hybrid. Other Sonata hybrid owners have had the same problem. We faithfully take our car to the dealer for any problems and oil changes and have all documentation if needed. We would very much appreciate any assistance you can give us. Thank you.

I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata and my car kept shutting down on me. Every time it does that I turned it off than it came back on. All my lights on my dashboard comes on. It was also leaking oil. So when it happen the third time I was on the highway and I was going like 80mph but it felt like I was going 50mph, than my car slowed down and I pulled over and turned it off and when I tried to turn on it didn't come on but it had the clicking sound. Car stop in the middle of the road when I tried to accelerate the was making a loud grinding noise. Prior to being on this road I was on the highway for about 35-40 miles before it stopped and wouldn't move. When I would put the car in reverse it would make a loud clicking noise. I called Hyundai they said that there was no open recall related to this issue.

On September 1,2019 my car wouldnt start. I purchased a battery and a it turned over. On September 8th I drove to get a oil change and tune up which seemed abnormal when I got home. There was a ticking noise. I wasnt sure what was causing the ticking noise so I didnt drive the car. On September 9th I got into car and started it when I noticed a knocking noise, the noise accelerated once I pressed on gas pedal so I didnt want to drive it. I have only had the car for about 6-7 months I bought it from a private owner I changed the oil and bought a new battery. The car did high milage at 194,000 miles I still bought the car. Tried to turn it over and not a thing happen sounded dead battery like it wanted to start but once I turned the key and it did not start if I tried right after just made a click click noise. I took my battery out and home to charge thinking maybe a bad cell or maybe alternator. Bought new battery and it not start so no not the alternator. I am at lost for words tried to turn the crankshaft and wont budge. Am I able to still get this looked at by Hyundai even if I just bought the car. Its registered to me if it is caused by these recalls does the car have to still be running for me to be able to recieve the benefits I have never had a car just straight die. Never made any noise or smoke or got hot. Also I noticed when I have the key and drop it down into all the gears it goes but when I slap it over to the manual side I can go from 1st to 2sd and that's it.
