My car started making a loud ticking noise in the engine, I took it in and they told me it's normal but when I bought the car it was not making that noise at all. It no longer fills to 410 miles when I put gas and the gas does not last as long as it used to. When parked and the car is on it will start shaking.

Takata recall back in may I discover a noise from my engine a ticking noise I was worried so I took it to the dealership to get looked at I was told it was my brakes so I paid to get the work done but Saturday morning I got up to warm my car up to go get an oil change I notice a knocking sound from my engine along with the ticking noise so I told him I'm going to call the dealership so I arrive at walmart my car cut off while in motion the engine and the oil light came on when I just got an oil change Saturday so I had it towed to my house what I'm not understanding from the dealership if I have these recall on my vehicle campaign 174,162 shows complete but how when my engine gone I called the dealership and explain my problem with my vehicle and was told they automatically check to see if your car have recall and fix the problem ok my question to her is why is my airbags not fix it's a safety issue it's shows complete for campaign 162 but my engine gone I have several recalls on this car needs answers.

Arriving at busy intersect when accelerators and brakes ceased to work all dash lights began flashing and I was fortunate enough for light to be green and was able to coast to a stop at shoulder through intersection w flashers and horn blowing ! I restarted car and pulled into a local business w a clunking noise!! was told by my mechanic who has regularly serviced this vehicle that it was the engine ! why brake/acceleration not working ?? I was told he's had 3 other Sonatas in this month that �just burned up all the oil � without a light on or anything. I could have been on s busy highway and killed in addition to risk to others.

Engine suddenly lost power while making a clattering sound from within the engine as we were driving on a highway at about 55 mikes o'er hour. Local mechanics say it is in the lower part if the engine. There are articles in the internet stating that there was a recall due to metal shavings but I cannot find the actual recall.

I've had the car since July of 2017 and about 3 months into owning it I noticed a loss in power during acceleration. I also noticed that while it's parked, after it's been driven, the car makes a popping sound in the engine area. Recently I was waiting in traffic at a stoplight and the car shuddered and acted as if it was going to shut off but then smoothed out. It has happened twice more during idling since then. When accelerating from a stopped position the car doesn't shift smoothly.

The car was serviced and when I picked it up got about 10 miles from the dealership and the above happened on a highway. Returned the car to the dealership and they have not had it real close to 4 weeks. The do not know what the problem is.

On July 10,2018 I took my 2013 Hyundai Sonata limited to mccafferty Hyundai service in langhorne, PA for a routine front brake job. As I drove home afterwards I notice a �pulsing� when applying the brakes. I called the svc dept and was instructed to return. I was then told I needed new rotors even though they had just done my brakes. Driving home after this visit my car began stalling when I would come to a stop. In the ten minutes it takes me to get home my car stalled 9 times, and by the time I got to my street there was smoke coming from under the hood. On this visit to the svc dept I was told the starter had failed and need replaced and that it had ruined the battery, so they replaced both. I drove the car for a little over two weeks and on July 26 it began make a heavy tapping sound during acceleration, but would subside when idling, so I made another appt. For July 30. On the morning of July 27 I got in my car to go to work and when the engine started there was a �chirping � sound and the tapping sound became louder and more constant and was accompanied by a rattling along with the �chirping � so I drove right to mccafferty. I am now being told that I have �metal shavings floating around in the bottom of the engine� and that � Hyundai has been having some issues with these engines�. So now my engine is being replaced.

Hear a clicking noise around 2000-3500 rpms, and going up slight inclines. It's about 4-7 clicks back to back.

Our car was serviced by southwest Hyundai dealer in albuquerque on 7/6, and although it was idling rough, they told us our car was safe to continue our vacation to CO. The next morning, 30 miles later on I 25 we were traveling the speed limit, and a clanking noise started and smoke poured out from under the hood. . . We pulled over immediately. Billows of smoke. We called 911 and road assistance. Santa fe fire dept forced hood open and flooded the engine. Car was towed to sante fe Hyundai fiesta. Our insurance company inspected and said the car was totaled. Hyundai corporate will be inspecting the car to try and determine cause. According to geico adjuster, that may not be possible. Everything melted.

While driving my vehicle when I go to accelerate there is a clicking or ticking noise and the car acts as if it doesn't want to accelerate. Takata recall : Hyundai Sonata limited edition had proper maintenance on it while driving it shut off on me made a click noise wouldn't start at all thought it was my starter had a machanic to fix it later found out after spending over $300 it's not the starter it was my engine that burnt out and burnt my starter now I need for someone to explain to me how this happened with no warning at all no lights came on the dash to warn me it just completely shut off on me and my grand daughter in this terrible heat. . . . .

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and I'm constantly having to change the back/front lights. They keep going out and the light bulbs are cheap. The back tail light has melted the socket and plastic so now I have to purchase a whole new one. Also everytime I turn the steering wheel there is a really bad clicking sound and the engine also stalls and the thing goes all the way between 3 and 4 and then the car finally jerks and moves forward.

While driving car on rt 50 west bound towards the bay bridge, an engine popping noise occurred, then fumes starting coming from vents. Pull car over while getting out flames were already coming from the engine. Within minutes the whole car was engulfed in flames. No time to retrieve any items inside the car. The MD transportation authority police were on the seen and called fire dept. Fire department said it was an electrical based on sparks as they were putting out the fire. I have been noticing a exhaust smell every time I start my car, it gets worse after I drive, then get out of the car. . . I can't stand on the passenger side of my car because the smell is so bad. Its a 2013 I get regular oil changes and check ups. . . Also, I have noticed when I put my car into gear there is a clunking sound.

While I was driving on the freeway going 65mph, the vehicle began to make a ticking sound with no warning or indicator lights being illuminated. The vehicle then began to lose power and would not accelerate past 2000rpm. Electric failure at first, always stuck on road. Engine was replaced on recall, clunking sound underneath, struts replaced and had to pay, that did not fix problem, then they replaced coupling in steering wheel, noise still happening with clunking sound, which also is wearing out tires in front thst were replaced 3 x. Dealer did not fix problem, they dont know what it is. , clunking is while driving over a little bump or while steering car and turning.

Blown engine, bought 2015 Sonata with 36,000 miles, certified used, leased car. Driving home about 35 mph, the engine made a loud clunking sound, thankfully I was in the right lane, I pulled off the street into a parking lot when all of a sudden the car engine blew. Had to tow back to the dealership where they are to replace the engine. Hyundai USA needs send out recall for the gti engine that is causing a lot of issues.

My car model, Hyundai Sonata 2011, has been recalled for engine issues. I checked the VIN number of my car and my car has been affected. When I took my car to dealership they told me because my car is not making a clicking noise they will not fix it. I told them that my car has been recalled and I want them to take care of it. They refused it because according to them they did not hear anything. Recently my car started making clicking noises when I turn my wheel. It seems that the steering wheel is loose. I can especially feel it when I go through bumps. Even when I am stopped and turn the wheel from side to side I can hear the noise. I am hoping that when I take my car to dealership they will fix the problem as I saw a recall for this issue as well. Looks like the dealership only wants to fix the smaller type of recalls and not the major pricy ones.

The car was in motion at approximately 40mph when the oil light on the dash illuminated. The engine then shut off, causing a loss of power and absence of braking assist, which made the car very difficult to stop. The car did start again, but made a loud banging/clunking noise. I had the recall 132 inspection done on this car at 110,485 miles, and it passed at that time. Please note that this dangerous failure is still happening after the recall inspection is performed. The inspection procedure may not be sufficient to diagnose this issue.

When depressing the brake my car is making a clicking noise. Went to the dealer and he said it is normal. Previously it was little but now days it is making loud noise while driving. When we depress the brake and try to change the gear from p to d the gear rod is making same clicking noise. When read forums I heard that it is the problem with the solenoid but the dealer does not want to do because he has to do it for free. When asked the dealer he said that it does not come under warranty. Now the noise is really loud and no one is helping me out.

I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata and I have well maintained my vehicle but one day I hear a small ticking noise I took it to the dealership and they said it was the spark plugs so I got the full tune up. The very next day the car didnt want to start. Ive tried everything but nothing seems to work. I also did research and a few others were having the same exact symptoms in their cars. Also lots of people were complaining about the 2011 Hyundai Sonatas also. I also found out that they use the same engines for the 2008 I think we alll should get a fair play.

The starter on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata is inoperable. It doesnt turnover. Ive the key in the ignition several times. There is no clicking noise; it's silent. My Hyundai only has 67,281 miles. I've kept up with all recalls and the regular maintenance schedule of my vehicle. Please advise.

Vehicle is making a loud clicking sound in the steering column and while turning either left or right its a double clicking loud sound. While the vehicle is at a still position when you turn the wheel you can hear a clicking noise both right or left. If you hit a bump you can hear a loud annoying sound like something is loose. It gets louder and louder. You can hear it over the radio. This happens either on streets and the interstate aka highway.

My car is currently at a shop being looked at. I had to have it towed because I was driving it and it started making a knocking sound and died on the side of the road. I have constant lighting issues where I have to replace headlights and brake lights every month to 2 months. Lights are very dim all the time. It has a clicking sound that never goes away. I feel very unsafe in this car. I owe 2 more years on this car and I'm afraid it's not going to make it. I have no transportation to work now and I may be at risk of losing both jobs I have. On April 4, 2017 I was driving down a busy street in noon traffic, when my Sonata lost power. Startled, I tried to re-start it and it would not make a noise. Turned on flashers and called for tow. Once the car was in my driveway it tried to start it again, and it turned over once and went silent. My son is a trained mechanic, so he came for the weekend and it started for him. So, he put it in gear and the engine began makeing pinging/tapping noise. He was going to bring his diagnostic equipment this coming weekend as he suspected major engine issues. I drove my car to work and it was just fine, went to leave that evening and my vehicle started making a clicking noise and then would not crank at all. It then poured liquid from the engine and I knew there was a bad problem. I contacted Hyundai and they said there was a recall on my engine and that it would have to be replaced but it could take months to do this. I understand and am very grateful for this but I'm a full time college student and I have a job and I'm left without a vehicle. I've asked about a loaner until mine is done and they told me no because I'm not 25. I'm just out of luck and they will not help me and seem to be in no hurry to get my vehicle back to me. I can't rent one because I'm too young and I bought a $1500 to get me through and now it's not working. I need someone to please help me!!.

There is a strange metallic crackling noise coming from the engine during acceleration and sometimes at constant speed. It sounds like small loose pieces of scrap metal hitting one another.

There was a loud clicking noise and when taking our car in there was no problem at the time. All of a sudden there was a horrible loud knocking noise and then there seem to be no power when trying to drive it. When having a mechanic look at it they said that the piston was lose and also it looked like there was a problem with the flow of the oil that was going in to the engine. Basically he said the bearing failed and that's why our car stalled. Luckily it stalled while we were in our neighborhood. His conclusion was that we would need a completely new engine. It hasn't been drivable for months now. We can't afford to replace the entire engine.

The vehicle was then taken to johnson Hyundai of cary (5000 old raleigh rd, cary, nc 27511(919) 439-2059) where it was diagnosed with a steering coupler and axle failure. The technician stated that the axle damage occurred at the time of the engine replacement. The contact called the manufacturer again with a more accurate repair cost of $800, and was informed that they would only pay $500 towards the repair. The failure mileage was 90,043.
