5 Engine Funny Noise problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

Was driving down the road at regular speed 55mph when the car quit with out any lights coming on or any weird noise after we got off the road we tried starting it again but nothing happened so we had it towed to the nearest garage where we was told the motor was locked up. It has around 124,000. Seems to me that this is a occurring problem with this motor and do not understand how they pick and choose which ones are recalled. So what's a person supposed to do when it's your only transportation and your on a fixed income.

6 Engine Funny Noise problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

I was driving down the road my car stalled and I pulled off to the side of the freeway. I pushed my push to start button and nothing happened. I pushed it again and the car started right up with no weird sounds. Then I pulled back into the freeway and got off at the next exit to check the oil. I wasn't due for an oil change for another 500 miles, the oil was low so I added a quart that I bought from the chevron I pulled into. I then got back on the freeway but my car would not shift, so I changed it to manual mode and started shifting myself and it got up to like 60 mph but then wouldn't accelerate any more even with my foot all the way down. I continued for a short period of time until the car started to sound like it was going over those bumps in the road that are meant to keep you awake. Once I pulled off the freeway the car began to make an extremely loud knocking sound. I parked it off to the side and called a mechanic out to look at it. He found metal shavings in the oil (as seen in the photos attached) and told me I needed a new engine.

7 Engine Funny Noise problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/04/2017

Transmission replaced. . Starter taking more battery power to start car so starter was replaced then catastrophic engine failure. After replacement of engine- it was found that there is an electrical short that will not allow the alternator to remain charged. When the engine failed we were driving 68mph on the highway all lights, dummy lights and the power to the car started to flash, increase then decrease quickly then again and again. . Thumping noise lights continued to flash/on off/etc car lost power engine died. The dealership is now saying that I am responsible for paying for diagnostics to find the underlying cause of electrical short . . I am responsible for any electrical repair that needs to happen. Electrical system was not faulty prior to engine failure. Hyundai should be responsible for finding the issue and correcting the problem. . The car had no alternator charging issues prior to the engine failure. A total of $13,800 has been spent on repairs and the car is still non functional. This is just not right.

9 Engine Funny Noise problem of the 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 03/17/2017

Was backing car out of our garage and the check engine light came on (solid and not blinking) so drove car back into our garage and turned it off. No unusual sounds observed when backing out or pulling back in to garage. From that point on the car would no longer start. Car had to be towed to dealership. 110,618 miles and was told engine needed to be replaced as permanent timing chain had jumped time. Dealer could not provide any reason why the chain would jump time. Learned that recall exists for newer models of Sonatas that have same engine that have issue with internal oil distribution trouble that seizes engine causing timing chain to jump. Engine replaced by dealership with used 62,000 mi engine.

11 Engine Funny Noise problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/21/2015

Takata recall this has been the worse experience of my life. In may I was driving west on hwy 40 towards raleigh nc when my car just stopped and made a funny noise, when I pulled over and tried to restart the engine smoke came from under the hood. I had it towed to southern Hyundai in raleigh on wake forest rd. It initially took three months to get a response from the manufacturer to pay 50% of the cost. Then 2 months later or around October when the car was ready I didn't have the other 4500. 00 to give them being a single parent of five. When the notice came out I asked them to see the manufacturer for the remaining balance. It is now December and I still don't have my car. I have been through so much and barely hanging on to a car making payments and haven't driven it in 7 months. The dealer still has possession of the vehicle, why can't the manufacture pay for the cost. I feel like I have been a victim of some cruel crime. What to do.

I was driving to work when I heard some weird noises and the car's engine stallled and I rolled to a complete stop. The engine was dead. I had the car towed to my mechanic and he said he found "shavings' when opening things up. He could not figure out what had caused this failure and basically told me. . . Parts failure. I called the dealership and they said that since I was a second owner, the 100,000 mile warranty did not apply to me. So I had to pay 5600 dollars to have the engine replaced by my mechanic. Now. . . I get a recall notice saying that my car was being recalled for "excees metal debris may have been generated from factory machining operations. This debris can be forced into the connectiong rod oiling passagesrestricting oil flow to the bearings and increasing of premature bearing wear. " do I need to be reimmbursed for a new engine?!!!!!.
