Engine over heats and won't start for several hours. It doesn't matter if the engine has been running for 5 minutes or an hour or more. When turning the key the engine clicks and won't start. You have to turn the key on several times (when the engine is cool) to have the engine start running. I have read this problem has been under recall by Hyundai, but my VIN number is excluded according to online information. I have received recall notices on issues and believe my car's VIN should have also been on the engine recall list.

I was driving my 2012 hyundia Sonata down the road, and all of a sudden, the whole car shut off. This caused the steering wheel and the brakes to fail. Fortunately, I was able to make it to the side of the road, and I smelled smoke. At first, I thought the engine was overheating, so I opened the hood to see what was going on. I saw a ball of fire, and quickly grabbed my 4 year old and 10 year old out of the car. By the time I got them out of the car, the whole engine bay engulfed in flames. After telling my story, I have had multiple people reach out to me with similar stories.

Air intake was replaced 3x. 3rd time lead to turbo failure. Thompson Hyundai replaces turbo but doesn't put antifreeze, tighten oil screw (which blew oil all over engine), and they didn't even test drive it. Drove vehicle, smoke starts pouring from the vents, engine overheats. Vehicle gets towed back to dealership. Currently vehicle has check engine light on, rough idle and doesn't accelerate. Almost got into an accident because loss of acceleration. Also, the sunroof winddeflector which was recalled is now coming off again. Dealership used a small amount of glue to adhesive it back to the car. The glue has failed. Hyundai needs better service techs. They have destroyed my car.
