I looked up under the hood, it start rusting in frame in driver side. I checked other 2020 Sonata from dealership and those car are even worst. Those car rusting driver and passenger side too.

The front tires were replaced; however, the subframe remained rusted. The tires needed to be replaced four times. Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated when vehicle was taken to took a auto center for maintenance the technician noticed the sub frame on vehicle was rusted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer suntrup Hyundai wentzville located at (4410, 971 wilmer rd, wentzville, mo 63385 (636) 887-8711) where it was diagnosed that sub frame was rusted. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure a case was filed. The failure mileage was 11,0978. As.

Purchased car June 4, 2018. Told by mechanic frame is rusted out and unsafe to drive. Will not pass state inspection.

Today I took my car to the dealership for a recall on the rear cross member. I also wanted to pay for a four wheel alignment at my own cost. I dropped my car off this morning only to be called a couple hours later. The gentleman stated that he couldn't do an alignment on the front tires because "the front subframe is rotted around the control arm mounting points. " he said that my car was "very unsafe" and that I really shouldn't drive it. My ride had left and I was 40 minutes from home. I had no choice. Thankfully, I made it home safely and now it's parked for awhile. But after some research I saw that 2001-2004 Hyundai Sonata were recalled for the front subframe rotting away. Not only that, I saw many cases of owners of 2006 Hyundai Sonata with the same problem that I am having. He told me that the cost to repair would be over $1,300. Oh my. So, many other 2006 Hyundai Sonata owners are having the same problem with the front subframe rotting and rusting out. I really feel like something should be done about this.

The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 5 mph, the front passenger side wheel detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an auto shop where the failure was diagnosed as a control arm failure and rusted subframe. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The sub frame in the front rusted out just like the salt belt 1999-2004 the car has only two spots of rust at the back fender. No other rust I took it to a service station because it was pulling to the right he lifted the car and the sub frame is rotted out just like they did on the 1999-2004 but Hyundai will not fix because its a 2005 I think the part is the same as the 2004 and they cant tell me that and wont help me.

Failed inspection in part due to front subframe rust through. Called Hyundai and spoke to a claims rep. By the name of nathan & tier2 rep tim. Both told me there were recalls on Sonatas up to 2004 for this problem, but not 2005. The 2005 model is the same model as 2004. The model year didn't change till 2006 so why was 2005 excluded from the recall? my car has 120k miles on it. Both told me it wasn't under recall or warranty, and that Hyundai would not be able to do anything for me, . How is it the a car 11 years old has a bad frame? hope you will be able to help us.

The vehicle started making a noise and driving weird. It looked like one tire was pointed straight and the other tire turned slightly. I stopped at a gas station to see what was wrong and they said the a frame was almost rusted into. I had already had the metal in the rear of the car replaced from being rusted out near were the shock attaches. I have researched and seen where several Sonatas have been recalled due to severe rust issues. The body even has been rusting badly. The bigger concern is the frame. I am afraid to drive it now. Do not know what recourse I have. This happened while driving. The car is now parked and am afraid to move it, even to a garage.

Hyundai 2000 Sonata subframe rust caused wheel failure.

Backing out of drive, right front fell. I am told the sub frame is rusted.

Recall on 2004 Hyundai. I called 5 dealers to have them inspect my car, due to the recall I received about possible frame rusting. The wait is any where from 10 days to a month, just to have them look at the frame. I explained that my car is showing the signs of damaged rusted frame. I requested that they either. Pay for my room or pay for my car rental.

Excessive sub frame rust caused it to brake, and as a result practically disabled driving and almost led to an accident on highway. Control of the vehicle is very dangerous, as the wheels are angled differently because of the sub frame bent.

I was driving and the tire fell off the front frame from being rusted.

Our 17 yr old daughter was driving 35-40 mph when all of the sudden the car started shaking violently and the ability to steer the car was non existent. She fought with the steering to try to get it off the very busy road without success. Car had to be towed to our mechanic who found the sub frame had rusted out. The car then had to be towed at our expense to the dealer. We now have to rent a car for the duration the Sonata is in the shop. Hyundai is not taking any responsibility for towing or rental expenses, or any other damage to the car. This recall was issued in April of 2009, it is now October 2009, why were we not notified of this very serious recall? thank heavens nothing serious happened to our daughter. Hyundai needs to take more responsibility for this I for one feel there should be a class action suit brought upon Hyundai and cover every car in all states regardless of "salt" and make restitution for all expenses incurred, such as towing, car rental and all other vehicle expenses that were caused as a result of too little too late. Bottom line, they are negligent by not sending all owners of record a recall notice!!!! we are the original owners of this car, same address and phone number that they have on record in their database. . . Why were we not notified???? they need to be held accountable.

I was approaching a red light and when I pressed my brakes my driving axle separated from my front driver's side tire. After that happened a mechanic lifted my car up and we saw that the frame was almost completely covered with rust. I called the customer service number for the company that makes the vehicle where I was informed that the vehicle frame is under recall and is to be replaced. Once the vehicle was taken to the car dealership, the service department informed me that the bolts had seized to the frame because of the rust and the only way to replace the frame would be to cut the bolts off. By doing so other parts would have to be replaced resulting in fees coming to a total of $3500, which is more than the value of the car. Because the frame was under recall, I was under the assumption that all damage to the car resulting from the recalled frame would be covered but the dealership refuses to cover the parts and labor resulting from the rusty frame.

Driving down the road the car began to pull to the right. Could barely drive to the shop. They found out the frame was rusted so bad it was not drivable. The tire which were new just 3 months ago were totally bald. The car, a 1999 Hyundai Sonata, is now not drivable.

Including possible damage to transmission, if I did get frame repaired. . . Many conversations with Hyundai, never told there was a recall on this problem with this vehicle. . . Junked car. . . . Found out about recall nbr-78622 after getting rid of the car. . . . Hyundai told me, since I no longer own the car. . . . I am out of luck. . . .
