The contact stated that the tail light bulbs overheated, which caused the bulbs to burn out quickly. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed tail light harness. The contact was informed that the tail light harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description, however the contact stated the recall notification was not received. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 199,500.

2 Tail Lights Bulbs problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/10/2022

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated when replacing the rear driver side taillight bulb, he pulling out the sock out the assembly, the plastic melted onto the sock not allowing the bulb to come out. The contact was able to pull out the sock, causing the light bulb to broke. The dealer was contacted and they stated that there was nothing they could do because there's no recall and that he needed to pay out of packet for the repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 167,000.
