My son was driving my 2007 hyundia Tiburon, on the highway, when all of a sudden the car lost all it's stearing capability, he hit a speed limit sign vered off the road and went about 50 feet into the woods, the airbags never deployed. Luckly my son is ok, the car is a total loss. Why would the airbags not deploy with the front end is destroyed and the frame is bent.

My wife was in a rear end accident at approximately 30 mph, air bags did not deploy, air bag light is on. My wife got whiplash from the accident. Reading similar complaints, I'm almost glad the air bags did not deploy because her injury could have been worse. Hyundai needs to fix the issue with their air bags immediately.

I hit a cement barrier my car flipped I hit the steering wheel and hit my head my air bag did not deploy. I already had the airbag fixed once in this car. I was wearing my seat belt. I had just called Hyundai two days before to tell them I had read numerous things on line with problems with the air bag in my year and make of car. They told me if I wanted it fixed they would charge me another 100 dollars. They knew of this defect and never told anyone. They could have prevented some of my injuries.
My 2008 Hyundai Tiburon has been involved in 3 accidents (none my fault). The impact was of enough significance that the air bags should have deployed. The first collision involved a deer that was being chased by another vehicle, and it hit my car so hard, the deer exploded and the air bags did not deploy. I was told the crash was equivalent to 80 mph head on. Also, since I have owned this vehicle it continually revvs itself and no one can figure out the problem. It does it all the time and is very dangerous as I cannot stop while its revving like this. I have to throw it in neutral, hit the gas, then it will stop revving. This is especially dangerous (and very annoying) in rush hour traffic. The electronic stability control will randomly shut itself off and quite frequently. I did not buy this as a used car.

The contact owned a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact swerved into another lane to avoid a crash but was unable to gain control of the steering wheel. As a result, the contact crashed into an embankment and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained chest injuries, a fractured nose, a fractured right foot, a torn ligament in the right foot, and bruises that required medical attention. The passenger sustained a cut on the lip that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The VIN was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
I am almost scared to drive my Tiburon. I have read many stories about airbags not deploying when the light had been showing. Both my Tiburon, and my mother's sonata had the airbag light steadily on. I was able to fix hers by adjusting a few cords, mine to no avail. I have been told not to get it diagnosed because problem returns.
The contact owns a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when a vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact. The air bags did not deploy and she sustained a concussion and whiplash. The police were called and a report was filed. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where they deemed the vehicle as destroyed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileage was approximately 103,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. The contact was driving approximately 50-55 mph on normal road conditions. The contact had fallen asleep and veered off the road and went through a chain link fence. The vehicle continued to travel and crashed into a gas meter and utility pole. There were no personal injuries. The police was called to the scene. The air bag system failed to deploy with the level of impact. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to the residence. The failure mileage was 36,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I CO-own this car with my daughter. The air bag light came on and would not go off. We found out about safety recall 02v290000 which specified that on 2003 Tiburons the driver seat belt buckle could be damaged by the height adjuster mechanism, resulting in failure of the air bag or the permanent lighting of the air bag light with failure to deploy on impact. The dealer refused to fix it because Hyundai claims the problem was fixed by March 2003 and will not agree to fix cars manufactured afterward. Hyundai protection plan refused to cover repair because they say this is part of the cars restraint system excluded by the warranty. Paid to have it fixed Jan 2009. Problem has now reoccured in sept 2010 and dealer says I will have to pay to repair again because parts and service are only covered for 12 months. Meanwhile, my daughter is driving a potentially unsafe car.
My son had a accident in a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. He hit a pole going approx. 40 mph. He bent both frame rails and did major front end damage to the car. On impact his air bag did not deploy. The car is currently in the body shop waiting on the insurance company. Hyundai told us both front sensors must be hit to deploy airbag. The frame is bent and that wasn't enough to deploy the airbags. I have been reading on the internet that many Hyundai vehicles have been in severe accidents and the airbags didn't deploy. I would just like it to be known that Hyundai vehicles are very unsafe. Luckily he wasn't severely hurt just back pain but it could of been alot worse. My son is very lucky he wasn't hurt worse and after reading all the trouble with Hyundai airbags I am wandering why something hasn't been done to help correct the airbag issue since there have been many complaints on the internet. Hyundai evidentially doesn't want to take responsibility for this problem, the only thing we were told was that the only way the airbags will go off is if 2 sensors are hit. Well he took out the drivers side front end of the car and I can not understand how they consider this a safe car.
Bcm (body control module) defective on my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. Airbag warning light stays on so don't know if it will deploy in a crash. Door locks don't work. Cruise control doesn't work. Left blinker stays on unless disconnected (police gave me a warning regarding this) many others reported similar problems online. All seem to be due to a defective body control module which costs $700 just for the part. There should be a recall on the bcm since so many others have similar issues! especially worry about airbag not deploying in an accident.
The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact crashed into the passenger side of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel and no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The police was called to the scene and a report was filed. An estimate has not yet been generated concerning the extent of the damage. The failure and current mileages were 11,000.
Driving west bound on interstate 10 fwy approximate time 2:30a. M. I had a tire blowout. The blowout in turn made me lose control of the vehicle and I went into a spin causing me to crash into a post on the side of the fwy. Upon crashing into the post my head hit the steering wheel at which time the airbag did not deploy. I have never had an accident in this car before, my assumption was that the airbag functioned. The airbag feature in my car proved to be totally non-functional.
I CO-own this car with my daughter. The air bag light came on and would not go off. This caused her to fail inspection in virginia. My daughter's car was produced in may 2003, making the window between eligibility and non-eligibility only 32 days from March 31 to may 1. We have spent hours trying to get this problem fixed. Hyundai cannot explain why, if the problem was fixed as of March 2003, there are cars suffering from the exact same problem and manufactured less than two months later. I am still working to get them to underwrite repairs. Meanwhile, my daughter is driving a potentially unsafe car, we've spent hours going to dealerships to get them to look at it and arguing on the phone with Hyundai and its dealers, and we have both lost a lot of time from work and suffered great aggravation.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag does not deploy unless the passenger weighs over 115 pounds. The dealer has not yet inspected the vehicle. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 100.
I was involved in a car accident: a front-end collision. The insurance company has totaled my car. My drivers side air bag did not deploy. The passengers side did. I have injuries. And most likely will be going for surgery. There was smoke from under the hood. I really want to know if my air bag was faulty. I see there are recalls on my car (Hyundai Tiburon) for faulty seat belt mechanism, which effects the fuse, which blows out and never sends the signal to the driver airbag. Was this the cause of my faulty airbag? or is it something else? was my individual car recalled for that faulty devise? was my car overlooked because of the timing of the recall and the time of my purchase? I am the second owner. Is there anyway to check my individual auto? I bought my car certified pre-owned. And it was only dealer serviced. We buy new cars for safety features. We get discounts on insurance rates for: having these features on our cars; there are lights on the dashboard that tell us we need fuel; that our doors are open; that we need to check the engine; that we have abs breaks; even to tell us that we need to wear our seat belts. There is even a light that says we have an airbag. But nothing, to my knowledge, says check the airbag and make sure it is working. This is a life saving devise. Why are there no regular check-ups, for the airbag, to make sure it works when you need it? this should be mandatory for all vehicles!!! why did my airbag not work? again, is there anyway to check my individual auto? I feel that if it worked, I would not be permanently injured!.
The contact owns a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon. In 2006, while driving at an unknown speed, the driver side air bag deployed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not find any defect. The contact's son was involved in a fatal crash with a school bus. The seat air bags failed to deploy. The contact feels that if the seat air bags would have deployed, his son would still be alive. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The powertrain was unknown. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was not applicable.
On October 28th at 11:00pm, we were driving at the rate of 55 to 60 mph and we hit a deer. The deer was a buck and from my understanding, it would be worth 8 points while hunting. The deer smashed into the front my car and rolled many times on the left of us. The deer died instantly from the accident. When the impact happened, the car shut off and the only light on the dash board that was on was the airbag light. We could smell a burnt powder smell inside of the car as well. The airbags did not deploy. I am very concerned about this since we were going so fast and we hit a large deer head on. Even if the car is able to be fixed, I am going to be afraid to drive the car again or sell it to anyone due to the safety issues. I have called the dealer regarding this situation and I am waiting to hear back.
2004 Hyundai Tiburon gt collided, bumper to bumper, with a stopped passenger vehicle at 5-10 mph. Impact was on the driver's side at a 40 degree angle to the vehicle centerline. Bumper damage was minor and there were no injuries nor realistic potential for injury. The vehicle's supplemental restraint system (srs) deployed the passenger front airbag even though there was no passenger, presenting a risk of injury to the vehicle's occupants. The driver's front airbag did not deploy. The Tiburon's srs computer activated the passenger airbag prematurely and was too sensitive to a minor, non-threatening impact; that is, defective. Bumper cover replacement $500, airbag repair $4,500. Defective devices are in my possession. Hyundai owners with a similar experience are invited to join a potential class action by e-mailing contact@airbagclaims. Com, established for this purpose.
The driver side airbag failed to deploy in the consumer 2004 Hyundai Tiburon . The driver lost control of the vehicle while driving in inclement weather and hit a tree. The passengers frontal air bag deployed but the driver's frontal air bag did not deploy. The driver sustained injuries to her chest, neck and back. The vehicle was totaled.
On Friday, August 25, 2006 my son was driving in a residential area when he attempted to turn left and the steering locked up and he had no control and could not get his car to stop and he hit a tree. He and his passenger were fortunately wearing their seat belts and did not get thrown out of the car. The air bags did not even deploy. None of them. Car taken to body shop for repair as it was undriveable. Driver and passenger did not go to er, however, they did have whiplash-type injuries and passenger jammed his finger.
I had a 2006 Tiburon Hyundai. On June 25th I was in a role over accident and not one air bag deployed. I feel Hyundai has given false advertisement. Now the insurance is claiming it a total loss and Hyundai is wanting to take over the vehicle and use it for salvage with out recognizing there was an issue with the air bags not deploying. Due to information given by police Hyundai is fighting for the release of the vehicle. However they continue to refuse to acknowledge their was a defect with their air bags.
A car speeding ran a stop sign causing accident with the Tiburon with most damage to the entire front of car. The airbags did not deploy. The impact caused total loss to the Tiburon and injuries.

: the contact stated while driving 45 mph a vehicle pulled out of a side street hitting the passenger side causing it to spin and the side curtain airbags did not deploy. The passenger side window shattered and the side mirror detached. The driver was wearing a seat belt and a police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop for inspection however; the mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.
I rear-ended someone on an icy road going approximately 30 mph. My airbag did not deploy, but the passenger's did, with no one in the seat. Hyundai claims that this is normal- designed to deploy at slower speeds without the seat belt buckled, but based on the research done on injuries without a seat belt worn, I find this design to be faulty, or I must wonder if their claim is true.
Front end collision driver airbag did not deploy, passanger side did, wire harness was defective at firewall.
On icy road conditions on December 24, 2004 my car slide down a hill and crashed into a car in the ditch. Driver air bag did not deploy, but passenger side did. No passenger in the car. Safety concerns over air bag not working properly.
Vehicle was involved in a crash. Consumer hit vehicle that turned in front of consumer's vehicle at about 35 mph. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained injuries.

Vehicle was involved in a head on collision and the air bags did not deploy. The passenger of in the vehicle was injured.
Driver swerved to miss moose, ran into back of parked semi trailer. 2000 Hyundai Tiburon air bags failed to deploy. Severe crash damage to the car, frame bent, motor mounts sheared horizontally, digital photos available. Hyundai says crash was not directly on sensor so air bags did not deploy. System checked and verified error free by Hyundai. This is either a design defect or someone trying to cover up a problem. Damage to car is so severe the air bags should have deployed. Neither air bag driver or passenger deployed.
