Tl the contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v746000 (engine). The contact stated that while driving and coming to a stop, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who had replaced the engine previously due to an oil change that was serviced incorrectly. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle was over the 12,000 mils warranty coverage for the engine. The vehicle was then towed to automax Hyundai (3221 e central texas expy, killeen, TX 76543) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle showed the symptoms of the recall however, since the original engine had been replaced, the manufacturer would not honor the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.

While driving on interstate 30 in little rock arkansas going about 70 I put the car in cruise control as were approach a hill the car shot up to 6000 rpm and would not shift, I had to take cruise control off and use manual drive. I thought it was possibly just a fluke accident but this problem continued and eventually when I put my car and drive it won't go it takes a while for it to take off and when it does take off it jerks into gear . . I has been running rough and feels like it missing. . Then on the interstate 67 /167 I was trying top accelerate and the car stalled for a good moment, enough to scare me to I had to pull off abruptly. .

On my way home from work my car stalled out on the highway. Luckily traffic wasn't heavy and I was able to make it over to the shoulder accident free. My car wouldn't cut back on so I got it towed to vandergriff Hyundai in arlington TX. They quoted me $12,322. 45 to fix my car. Said there was a hole I my short block. The cause of connecting-rod bearings in the engine that wore out and made a hole my engine. The car is only worth 6,000 on kelly blue book and that repair coast is more than I owe on the vehicle. Hyundai needs to recall the 2017 model and make it right. The specs on the 2015-2016 is no different from the 2017. And there is no denying that the engine problem is the same.

Im writing to complain, that Hyundai had a recall on my vehicle engine malfunction. This apparently was known of early December and I just found out. When I looked it up they have not started the recall process yet. Possibilities are engine fire, stalling and accidents. I wanted to make people aware of what was happening. Thank you.
I was driving home from work my car stalled out going thru an intersection. I went about another half mile and pressed the accelerator to climb the hill by my apartment and I herd a loud bang lost all power and oil at the same time I was able to coast into my apartment where it is still sitting I had recently had the catalytic converter replaced at voss Hyundai where nothing was said about the noise it was making prior to my visit witch shows there lack of completing a vehicle inspection. Now I see the 2016 Veloster has a recall for exactly what happened to my car I would like to see if my car can be added to the recall . It was made in oct of 16.
Vehicle stalls when taking foot off the brake. Won't properly drive.
The car stalls in the middle of traffic. As I come to a red light, or try to accelerate when a light turns green the car stalls. Takes a few restarts / a few minutes to work again. But then happens soon after. It has been happening for a few days now and I thought it would be a one off situation.
2013 Veloster non turbo, stalls while driving. When starting vehicle, shifter moves but transmission does not engage. Car must be shut off and restarted after a short period and car will go into gear. This issue has been sporadic, the vehicle is unreliable and the stalling is extremely dangerous. A similar stalling issue recall for the 2013 Veloster turbo model was issued in 2019. This may be a similar issue and should be extended for all 2013 Veloster models. Dealership has checked the vehicle an has stated that no codes were found in the history so they could not resolve this issue.
Veloster Hyundai's 7-speed dct contains a design defect in the transmission control module (tcm) that causes, among other problems, failure to shift, stalling, delayed acceleration, or loss of power. these conditions are hazardous because they severely affect the driver's ability to control the vehicle during normal driving conditions and prevent drivers from accelerating to maintain safe speeds in traffic,.

On may 7th my car was completely dead when I tried to turn it on on the park lot of my work. Wouldn't turn on, no lights, doors wouldn't open or close. Car was jumped by the tow driver and when go to the dealership they couldn't not identify the problem nor could Hyundai. The tow driver told them the car was complete dead and still they gave me back the car saying nothing was wrong with it. But a about a month ago the car stalled and went completely off when I was driving on a highway 95 in miami, FL. At first I thought it could have been a human while sifting gears but now I know it wasn't. But after experiencing it a second time I know for sure it wasn't human error. Something is very wrong with this car and Hyundai have not been gable to find out what. At the event at the highway I was only able to bring the car back running by snapping the clutch and the gas. If it was an automatic car for sure that would have caused a big accident. After the last time the car died it took half a tank of gas to drive less than 30 miles. Hyundai, is sending the car home to me even though they haven't found anything wrong with yet. They are putting a "black box" for me to record the car engine activities as it happens. I feel scared and unsafe driving this car. It is such a serious matter that I want to share in case someone else experiences that same thing and I wan to make sure my struggle with this car is well known and hopefully will inspire some more investigation.

Car has began doing this often now. At 115k miles. Start the car, put it in drive, car won't move. Put it in reverse. Same issue. Have to turn the car off and on and repeat until it moves. Occasionally I'll stop at a stop sign and go to move after stopping and again, it won't move. Engine just revs. Have to repeat above until it moves. Replaced camshaft sensor and knock sensor. Didn't fix it. Now the car dies while in park and stalls between 15-2000 rpm. There are several forums with the same issues and no one has a solid answer. And no recall. Insane. Taking it to Hyundai and considering a lawsuit with my evidence and all the other forums and complaints.

takata recall my Veloster has been stalling since I leased it there's always a problem when speeding up and has been taken to the dealership for service more than 3 times for the same problem and has been out of service for more than 35 days this has happened to me on highway, stationary and on streets it's u just that I have to pay for a vehicle like this when I should be getting my moneys worth.
The car as I would describe it stalls randomly while driving under 40 mph, the engine doesn't shut off but I lose drive power and the rpm shoot up. The dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue and no engine lights come on when the problem happens. I fear this will end up causing me to get rear ended.

When stopped, car stalls occasionally. . Starts right up again, but then as I was driving car engine would occasionally feel as if it's going to stall & then surge up to power.
This brand new car breaks down on my teenager. It has done so on me as well. Had it into the dealer and auto shops and they cnt find anything wrong. This car lea ves my kid stranded in the middle of nowhere. Not safe. Goes into limp mode and stalls.
On Saturday 2-28-2015, I was driving on a major interstate highway when all of a sudden my car stopped responding. I attempted to accelerate, but the vehicle would not respond. Thankfully, I was in a construction zone so the surrounding cars were already alert and slowing down. However, I was rapidly losing speed and could not keep up or accelerate. I drifted the car into the emergency lane, where then the car died. I called road side assistance but was not able to get through. A police officer arrived. He could not get the car to start either. We had my car towed since I was interfering with a major highway's traffic flow. The Hyundai dealership I was towed to was just beginning to close. They said they could start the paperwork and store my car there, but they would not be able to work on it until Monday. Come Monday morning, the dealership said they could not duplicate the error and therefore there was nothing wrong with my car. However, since I was still within my warranty, they would reimburse me for the hotel and tow. In summer 2018, I took the same car into the shop to get serviced for a separate issue (the car's clock was constantly either too fast/slow despite taking it to a dozen dealerships to get fixed). At that time I also said the car jumps and doesn't respond smoothly. I was worried I was going to have another issue like the highway stall. After many conversations, the dealership & Hyundai corporate said there was nothing wrong with the car. However, research shows that there is clearly something wrong with the Veloster dual clutch transmission. A quick google/youtube search shows hundreds of other owners having similar issues with the car randomly revving or acting up. Attached is the phone call recording of my initial conversation with Hyundai as well as the receipts they reimbursed me for. (which took 2 and a half years).
My 2013 Hyundai Veloster almost stalled at least 3 times during the past 2 months. Whether I'm going up a slight incline (in California) or if accelerating after a stop. I've recently noticed that when the air conditioner and radio is on it sometimes will sputter and drop rpms and nearly stalls. I've taken it to the dealer and explained it to them. The service department claimed they couldn't duplicate the problem. [xxx] it's happened to me several times. There needs to be a recall due to all of the online similar complaints about Veloster stalls!!!! NHTSA please look into all of the complaints! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
