Engine Shut Off Without Warning Problems of Hyundai Veloster

Car spontaneously loses power to engine while in motion. When starting the vehicle, the engine sometimes struggles to turn over and does not correctly read rpm as this dial will read 0 rpm even while in motion. When this occurs it is accompanied by difficulty accelerating uphill and bucking. On 2/24/2021, while driving up a small hill on a city street, the engine shut off and the no key detected light turned on. The engine turned back on about 1 second later and dash read 0 rpm even though the vehicle was accelerating. On 2/25/2021 while pulling forward in a drive thru restaurant line, the vehicle's engine shut off and the no key light, battery light and check oil lights came on. I took a picture of the dash at this time. I turned the vehicle completely off and restarted it. Dash continued to read 0 rpm but was able to accelerate. I turned the vehicle off again and then restarted it a second time and the vehicle then seemed to be functioning properly for the remainder of the drive.

This cars engine just shuts off when driving, it will not go into gear even though it says it's in drive etc. My husband parked the car in our flat driveway and the car went forward crushing him against the house. I pulled the car backwards even though it was it said it was in park to free him. Contacted Hyundai corporate and they said they were not responsible. Will be contacted a lawyer because this was caught on video from my ring doorbell. This happens all the time where it will not go into gear and you have to shut the car off and on 3xs before it will go into gear. Hyundai dealer says they can't duplicate the problem.

While going at slow road speeds,on a city street, it threw a rod with no warning. There is only 54,000 miles on the car, we hadn't even had a chance to take it in for the recall software correction, since they just recently notified us of that. We had no warning signs, and the oil has been changed regularly, the last time being just a few weeks, before this incident. Given the number of complaints I have found, some involving vehicles with as low as 4,000 miles on them, and the lack of support from Hyundai, I do not think they are fully looking into the dangers of this issue, and that they are not taking it seriously. If we had been going faster, when it happened, it would have caused a very serious accident, since the car just shut down with no warning, and all we heard was some sudden noise. The car is currently with Hyundai of renton/carpros. So far, they have refused to accept these occurrences as being related to the recall issue from high pressure weakening the rods, and have refused to help people with warranty replacements. We can provide more information, and oil change documentation, and etc. , upon request.

The engine light came on 2 weeks earlier took car in and they claim they made an adjustment and I was also told might happen again and the would need to replace valvu 4 or cylynder 4 not sure which then I was driving home down the block from my house engine light came on and then major noise in engine and all lights came on engine shut off had to push car home. . . Had towed to dealer next day they told me rod went thru the rengine and needed a new engine. The dealer has had my car now for 6 weeks and they cannot tell me when it wil be repaired (prefer to be replaced) I am not a hppay camper at all.

For the 4th time, my 2012 Veloster literally shut off while being driven. It does not stall. It shuts off entirely. No electric. No power. No nothing. Luckily, this has only happened when doing under 15mph or stopped at a light. If this were to happen on a highway or at high speeds, it is quite certain that I would be in an accident as there would be no way to alert other motorists that my vehicle cannot be driven - there are no brake lights or anything when it shuts off. When it shuts off, it is in drive. It cannot be put back into park. I have to put it into neutral to restart it. It does restart without hesitation. I did take it to my local dealer once and they were not able to locate any problem. I have done research on this and see that Hyundai has the same kind of problems most often with their santa fe models. I have checked to see if there has been a recall for this issue from Hyundai, but so far they have not addressed this issue.
