The valve cover gasket is leaking oil on to the alternator. The alternator is covered in oil, possibly causing it to short out which could lead to a loss of power while driving. This is a dangerous condition.

2 Engine Head Gasket Leaking problem

Car wont start, took it in to the shop found out oil was leaking on to the alternator and that the vale gasket it leaking oil. Took it into the dealer 4 years ago to get it fix for the recall. Had the car for 5 years and have changed 5 alternators, and 5 batteries, now that I have put a new battery and alternator again, the car wont start now without getting it jumped off. We have tried disconnectioing the terminal when not driving but that only works sometimes. Called the dealer and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong and that the car was okay even when it wouldn't start in there shop and they had to jump it off and even pitting a new starter on.

3 Engine Head Gasket Leaking problem

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. When the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. In addition, the electric power steering and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nalley Hyundai (located at 7909 mall pkwy, lithonia, GA 30038, (678) 509-824)8 where it was diagnosed that the valve gasket was leaking and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 14v415000 (engine and engine cooling), but the repair did not correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,700. The VIN was not available.

4 Engine Head Gasket Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2013

2007 Veracruz alternator valve cover gasket defect. The consumer stated on October 4, 2013, the vehicle staled in rush hour traffic. A tow truck was able to start the vehicle when the booster battery was disconnected. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The consumer was informed the valve cover gasket leaked oil onto the alternator and destroyed it. The alternator and the valve rocker cover was replaced at a cost of $758. 46.

5 Engine Head Gasket Leaking problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

Rack and pinion assembly leaking the power steering fluid from both side boots. The fluid is spraying under and on the tires. Very unsafe to drive due to a possible loss of traction. The undercarriage is completely covered with over-spray. Front valve cover gasket leaking engine oil. The dealer promised to repair both problems.
